Dodi was a playboy who wasn't going to stay faithful to one woman for long. Diana was well aware of that, well aware he dropped his fiancé like hot potato for her, after all the trauma with adulterer Charles, I don't think Diana ever took Dodi seriously. Or that she was pregnant with him at the time of her death. She was just having fun with a billionaire's son, and his father tried to paint that relationship into smth more serious than it was, out of ego. Diana was (and still is) a powerful symbol, mother of future King, humanitarian and fashion icon, a name that won't be forgotten for centuries to come, she's part of the history that people will study in the future, to be part of that might have been so alluring for the Al Fayeds. I'm glad this show absolutely nailed that and didn't turn their fling into a passionate love story.
Imagine pimping out your own son just to get into the British Royal Family, it makes me sick to my stomach. And Dodi should have stood up to his old man, and said Look I am not interested in her, I am getting married, leave me alone!
Not to mention Mohammad Al Fayed was a publicly spoken abolitionist. And he's still insisting the Royal Family killed his son and Diana when everybody knows the drunk driver was his own employee. If you watch his interviews, he's just as detestable in real life as he is in the Crown
And lose the money??? He never loved that model anyway, he was a playboy to the core, he could never have stayed loyal or married for long. And Diana knew this.
Obedience is not worth it if money and power are your parents' only criteria. I felt sorry watching that phone call between Dodi and his fiancee whom the father must have already met and approved of. Oh, the emotional manipulation and where it led!
beautiful how the misogynists so neatly prove their own point... with reactions like that why ever in the world would women wait to come forward about men in the royal family???

It's no secret that Diana always went out of her way to introduce both her boys to all of her different boyfriends over the years. Charles didn't try introducing the boys to Camilla until they were older and ready. He never tried to force someone else onto children. He waited til they were grown up.
And maybe Charles made a mistake, maybe that's why Harry wrote nasty things about Camilla in Spare. You gotta live your life openly and proudly. Diana was a beautiful woman, she deserved to be happy and share her happiness with others. Charles was brainwashed into hating individualism and always putting the needs of others ahead of his own. The Queen was the same way, she put The Crown ahead of everyone else, including her own family.

This whole thing of Diana dating many men was kind of creepy. Did Charles tell her she can look for someone to get married?was she doing it for him or for herself or revenge? if he asked her to date, she would say it in the interview. women's usually will loose interest in dating men, after they have own kids, in Camilla and Charles case they wer in love(they met each other before) from teenage days so that's a different scenario altogether. I am shocked by the similarity of these actors from The Crown to the real people of the Royal Family
Me too!

Kelly also had an engagement ring from Dodi that looked exactly like Diana’s sapphire…

Was Dodi forced by his father to date Diana?
I bet he regrets it
Yes. But I’m sure Dodi didn’t mind as Diana was stunning and the most famous woman in the world!
With what we know now, it doesn’t bear thinking about what really happened…

The actor for Dodi is too young, too well-groomed, and not seedy looking enough.

Allegedly, he's dead, he has no opportunity to defend himself. I find it ridiculous how "victims" wait years, even decades, to defame people.
