I would hate for this comment section to turn into a contest of who looks more like Ms. Dandridge. How about honoring who she was as a person.

She was a black actress at the wrong time. She suffered so much, kept going and got tired to some point. She is just sleeping now. She would be feeling some kind of joy to see the evolution of black people on the screen. She inspired several women in the entertainment industry. Her history is as sad as it is fascinating. Sleep well angel.

This was her time. She was a pioneer for black Hollywood and opened doors for many financially. Pioneers usually have to endure ALOT.

She was truly A+, 100% class, beauty and poise. She paved the way for Diana Ross, Cicely Tyson, Whoopi Goldberg and many others. We should focus on what her image and accomplishments as well as remember the limitations that racism had on the careers of her generation of artists. But they knew the value of exposure. I wish we could focus on her as a hero more than a victim.

This interview is from March of '56 so Dorothy Dandridge is 33 at the time and just absolutely Gorgeous. But listening to her speaking she sounds alot like Dihann Carroll another All-time Great actress.
