I feel she was wasted by the studio system but I’m thankful that she created her own legacy her own way. She was also IMO the most beautiful, stylish and glamorous movie star of all time!

We know who and about Harold Nicolas. He is half of the famous Nicholas Brothers. He died in 2000. He danced pretty much up until his death. If youve ever seen the movie the five heartbeats, he played the dancing war vet, Sarge who was able to get the group "in step" with each other and help defined their style. As for Harolyn because of cerebral issues that were due to either a delayed birth or forceps used during labor, it's been reported that she lived to be 60 yrs old and in 2003 she died in the institution she lived in most of her life. With no one coming to claim her body she was lost in paperwork for years . Its quite sad the issues and hardships that plagued their whole family (extended included) . I hope Dorothy and all of her family are at peace. Thank you for the video

As a child I remember seeing Dorothy Dandridge in Carmen with Harry Belafonte, and being confused about the relative absence of publicity around this stunning and talented actress. This was one of the first indicators in my childhood that made me realise that USA was not a good place to be if you were black. It reinforced the social unrest and civil rights incidents that happened that we heard about in the 60s and 70s as we grew up.
Wow she was effortlessly gorgeous! her beauty is timeless! when I look at her style she's so classic - you could easily wear a lot of her fits today. She deserves to be at the top of any list.

Now I know back in the day that was very taboo and I want to say that was legal back then but see I love the fact that Marlon didn't care he just flat out did it because the man liked what he like and he liked miss beautiful Dorothy Dandridge. Dorothy was dubbed that name because of her affiliation with Monroe. But Dandridge's relationships with white men were frowned upon. This will always forever be a mystery to me, just hearing about her life story and also her daughter I know it hurt Dorothy to put her in a institution, but at the time there was just no support no family around no resources to help, especially being a young single black Mom at the time, I wish somebody could have helped Dorothy or assist her , could see why she fell into a depression. There’s so many issues going on, but not enough help for her or even support at the time, I can only imagine how lonely she must’ve felt with the people around her, especially those useless men! And to top it off not even be able to get the proper help and care for your own daughter I can tell she really loved her.
