I love how you showed the total disarray of photos before you started your organization!! I didn't have a helper, but went through the all my photos....years worth...of my three children & it took quite a lot of time & pain!! I think most of us go through that same process, and I'm so glad you finally got organized & am ready to create your layouts when ready without much torture!!
This is such a great idea! My mom is turning 83 and wants to get caught up in her albums. This is a wonderful way that we could work on her pictures together. Thanks!
Hi Amy. Thanks for the great ideas on storage. I'm glad you were able to have help organizing. Jack is so darn cute, you will have scrapbook material for years to come!
Great tips. I print my photos also and put them in chronological order in Creative Memory photo boxes and then they are all ready for me to scrapbook as I have the time. Just keeping them organized as I take and print them makes it that much easier for me when I do scrapbook.
Hi Amy! I love this idea, and the photo labels are great. I like how you use colorful cardstock and brush script to give it your signature style. Love it.
I LOVE THIS! I have been searching for ideas like this to organize my pre-digital era photos. I like the simplicity of the folders and the pretty colors. I am having trouble with the idea of plastic storage boxes, though. But then I don't like the photo boxes that much either. What do to?
+Alexa Weber Morales Aww thanks! You may be able to find a different type of container with a material you are happy with maybe at the Container Store? I honestly just wanted something easy and clear and something that would function. There are cloth boxes I have used for clients, but they are a bit larger. Sorry the manufacturer is not on there and I think they got the boxes many years ago. Hope you are able to figure something out!
Hello! :) I had to giggle when I saw your video, I've been doing this photo organization for years, only in a shoe box and index cards! To jazz it up sometimes, like for my Autumn pictures ( I take a lot of pictures! ) I would use an Autumy cardstock instead of an index card!! Hugs, Sue
I loved this video, thanks! I had to laugh when I saw your category ""Australia Spring 2015"" .... we haven't had spring yet, but looking forward to it ... (I realise we are backwards to you :D ) I hope you enjoyed your trip to Aus!!
How do you organize photos that go together in a category, for example a summer trip that has 20 photos...how do you keep those type of "sets" together so they don't get separated from each other? The problem is when other people sit at the table and we are all looking at the photos and reminiscing, they might get placed back in the wrong spot, this has happened numerous times and I have to sort through them all again :(
I LOVED THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I need to do the exact same thing and this helped me think about my own process! I will totally use your labels, I love them! I have a question or two if you have time. Your videos are so WHITE. I just love the color balance on them. I know you got that new camera, do you think that's why they're looking so great or are you editing the color? Are you using only natural light? I tape in a sun filled studio but it's almost too sunny and I'm just not getting the white light that you do but I'm using my iPhone. Mine are bright but yours are crisp and white. I hope that makes sense!!!! Sorry to ramble!
Tracie Claiborne I think it is absolutely the new camera. I don't do anything in post, just in camera I can easily bump up the ISO. Only using natural light. If it's too sunny or blown out, I can usually tell on the screen and then turn the ISO down a bit. The camera is AMAZINGLY powerful and compact and well-priced. Even professional photographers have commented on how much they love it. And a fraction of the cost and weight of the 5D.
Oh my goodness. I haven't even started on my scrapbook/photo album journey yet but I have 13k photos. 5 children 1 otw. My oldest is almost 15 so I am 16 years behind!!! 😩😬
fansue In batches I just order 4x6 typically if there's a 101 prints free from Shutterfly. If I order from Persnickety, I like that you can choose the different sizes and I like to order 3x4. I like using more than one photo on a page if I can and find this is a great size to work with. Hope that helps!
I was like this before I started scrapbooking. However, I am back to being like this again because I really don't scrapbook currently, but still have unscrapbooked photos & random new ones I've ordered & yes, it's a mess & I don't like it. But, I haven't gotten to the point of fixing it again yet. Ugh.
Photos should be stored with acid-free lignin-free materials (i.e. envelopes, folders, boxes, ink) or eventually they will deteriorate. I can attest to this as it has happened to some of my older photos. Look for archival photo storage items. Costs more initially but worth it in the long run.
Great question! This is something I'm still working on but I've found that if you need to declutter, often you have to be willing to let go of the extra things that you no longer need. The only way to do that is to sort through your belongings, donate or recycle items that aren't useful or enjoyable anymore and keep only the things you enjoy and use regularly. Hope that helps!
Amy, since I am coming in late, lol, on this video, where is the link for the photo organization labels? I got an "Oops" when searching for it. Thanks.

Super cool idea. I'm reading 'Spark Joy' by Marie Kondo and its such an amazing read. She really breaks down how to store items!
+fromthekiwigirl I'm reading it right now too!
Great share...! PS: Love your new Printable too and just bought my first set! Thanks to Jennifer for sharing! :)
Lisa ThePurplePlace Aww, thank you!!
I don't scrapbook, so I am going digital! I am going to scan all the old photos, back them up, and keep them this way.
Be sure to let me know how it goes!
@@amytangerine I will try to remember! I ordered a wand scanner, and it is not here yet.
I so need to do this. I just put them into photo boxes, but they are not organized at all!
God Bless you for even having them printed out!LOL
This is a great idea! I will try this and surprise my family with organized photos. They are still in boxes. :)
Genius!
Thank you!!
thx. . also I am converting tons of work into digitized form. I use a neat app to manage my files.. Google for FolderChanger, it helps
k
Good work
Amy, I really love all of your videos! And Jack is so cute! Thanks for this idea:)

I loved this video, thanks! I had to laugh when I saw your category ""Australia Spring 2015"" .... we haven't had spring yet, but looking forward to it ... (I realise we are backwards to you :D ) I hope you enjoyed your trip to Aus!!
Rhonda Woolf Ha - totally. We were there in March, so it was really our Spring. So funny!
It's 2020 and TH-cam thought I needed to see this one more time. Because, you know we are all taking so many pictures this year. 🤣😭
HAHAHA
Any ideas on how to start scrapbooking with photos that are on your iPhone? Any pointers?
Awesome!!!
Thank you, Amy, they're great tips. Take care, Kim :)
Nice idea thanks
I need your friend to come over to my place, great idea thank you!
AWESOME idea! Love it so much! Will definitely give it a try :-)

You can do it!
What kind of container did you put all the folders in? This looks so doable. I have outgrown my current system and I need to find a new one.
Anne-Liesse Ankeny Listed it in the description box, it's the Sterilite Storage container - goo.gl/w5oZGT
WHERE DO I FIND THE LABEL TEMPLATE?
Do you print all your photos in 4x6 or do you resize them before printing them in batches?
fansue In batches I just order 4x6 typically if there's a 101 prints free from Shutterfly. If I order from Persnickety, I like that you can choose the different sizes and I like to order 3x4. I love your printable label but can't find it.
Rita H It's in the description box below the video, but here you go - Free Photos download - www.amytangerine.com/blog/freephototabs

Still clutter.. I want to minimize clutter.. This is organizing not decluttering. I want more space. What do I do?

Why not just use photo albums?
love how it looks but paint, glue and post its are not a good idea to mix with your photos,
Just digitize them.
LOL you hardly have any photos printed!!!
