I am presently reading Pachinko by Min jin lee. It's a historical fiction, a family saga, spanning over generations and tells you about the ties of Korea & Japan. I am loving it. Hope you read it soon. I am positive that you will love it.

Isabel Allende is a great writer! I highly recommend you "The Japanese Lover" It's set in USA but it also has historical aspects. Allende's writing is supreme! Up to know there is no one of her novels that have disappointed me!

"Maus" by Art Spiegelman is actually a nonfiction graphic novel as it tells the story of Vladek Spiegelman and his wife's life (Art Spiegelman's parents).

One of my all time favorite historical fiction is The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak and I love reading about WWI WWII novels, Tudor era novels, and Flapper era. I love The Diviners series and The Last Magician series by Lisa Maxwell. I like historical fantasy novels as well.

I loved this video so much! The best part about it, for me, was that I had read so many of the ones mentioned, I recognized how similar our taste is with historical fiction (I’ve always thought it was) and anything I hadn’t read, I added to my TBR OR already have waiting on my shelves! I wanted to tell you that I read The Mercies and The Prophets at the very beginning of this year and still think about them. They’re some of my favorite historical fiction of all time. And I just finished Hamnet last month and after being so scared to read it, because it had been hyped so much, and it ended up being absolutely wonderful. I think you’ll really enjoy all three!

Ouch, my poor TBR list! Thanks for the recommendations. I would recommend Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi, I just finished it and loved it. It spans a long time period, following a few generations of a family across Ghana and America from the slave trade to our more recent past. The Sympathiser is another great book set during the Vietnam War!

Loved this! I love historical fiction and read a lot of it. If I had to pick a favorite time period I'd say probably Middle Ages or WWII. Some favorite historical fiction: Hamnet (so good!), Wolf Hall trilogy by Hilary Mantel, the Matthew Shardlake series by CJ Sansom, Burial Rites by Hannah Kent, Fever by Mary Beth Keane, All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr, The World That We Knew by Alice Hoffman. Oh, and To Kill a Mockingbird was a favorite of my too- I named my first dog Scout.

Historical fiction is one of my favourite genres, so this topic is right up my alley. Ancient history is my favourite time period to read about by far, but I tend to like anything up to and including the Victorian era. I also love reading books set outside of Europe, or at the very least outside of England (I feel like 90% of all historical fiction is set in London, lol).
Some favourites would include Mary Renault's Alexander the Great trilogy, Stealing Fire by Jo Graham, The Silence of the Girls by Pat Barker, both of Madeline Miller's books, The Conqueror's Saga trilogy by Kiersten White and The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee. Some of those fall more into the alternative history/historical fantasy category rather than "pure" historical fiction, but based on your selection I thought that'd be fine :)

i think one of my favourtie historical fiction books is Prophecy of the Sisters by Michelle Zink. it's set in like a victorian england and it's about these twin sisters and there's a boarding school as one of the places we're in and there's this sinister prophecy about then about gates of hell and stuff and it's very gothic and I love it. I've reread it a couple of times.
also, my friend recently got me The Moon and the Sun by Vonda N. McIntyre, which I've never heard of before but it's set during Louis XIV's rule and it has a bit of magic in it, so it's near the top of my tbr.
and i think this europe between 16th and 20th century is the historical fiction I'm most interested in.

I enjoy reading about the time between WWI and WWII in London. I enjoy the Maisie Dobbs series by Jaqueline Winspear. I grew up in the 50s and 60s and it pains me to read about those times because I’m embarrassed and appalled at the blissful ignorance of whites at that time (I’m white).
