Please just cover the whole album. Everyone like this.
That would be nice
YES PLEASE!!! i'm crying at the thought of how amazing that would be.
Leroy Price please
crack is good kids, really though - c'mon; unbelievable.never thought i'd like anything more than the original. but i do. i do.
So much YES!!!
Whatever engineer set up the sound needs a raise. Fat snare, clean guitar, and juuust enough reverb on the vocals
would never had noticed if you didnt point it out. Thanks Bro! Gotta appreciate it that much more.
These guys do near album quality production. Top class stuff, mixed to perfection
They really did, although Julia caught them out in the last chorus! It blows out a tiny bit with that surprisingly powerful voice after the almost whispered delivery of the first verse especially. Sign of a good singer to catch a good engineer out like that.
Whereas a good engineer i enough to catch imperfections like that and turn them into details that add to the warmth of the recording.
Great musician, great recording!
Sadly, the ABC has some of the BEST sound techs in Australia!
I'm fairly certain this is the studio recording of this cover dubbed over the video, unfortunately.
this cover makes the song so much sadder
Conor Orton most strokes songs are sadder the deeper you dig
And I like it
@@charliefuller4 finally found another human that sees the sadness in the strokes.
It is a sad song disguised as a happy song :T
@@Wingo537 The Strokes is literally my "sad band" lmao
It's actually embarrassing how many times I've listened to this.
Sindy Stokes your name is cool btw
me too! lol
Don't be.
Don't be embarrassed. This is the closest thing to magic.
Dont worry I think I only played it for the 78x times today
Julia covering Julian
Julia(n) Jacklin, or Julia Casablancas.
Marxer n
Never been so happy the my name is Julia😅
Singing like Julianne Pertersen
That roll she does on the "ooohs" after "fall apart" makes my spirit soar.
Same!
This cover really conveys how deep and meaningful the lyrics are.
In a way that the original, as great as it is, doesn't really, unless you're in a sombre mood. You're absolutely right.
All lyrics sound deeper played at half speed in a womans vocal
@@scottinbristol It's not half speed.
@@leosonic WwwWWoOOoooSSsSsSHHhh
Agree
Glad im still listening to this cover 5 yrs later
This is seven years old WTF, first listen and it's amazing!!!
That moment at 4:19, her face, her voice, that guitar tilt, and the camera going backwards, just wow!
That pan in at 4:44 was stellar as well.
I can't quite say why but it's a simply fantastic shot
Huh?
Luis Gonzalez 💯 💯💯
@@Fisky-ww6ee what
MAN those drums sound good
Really well mixed
And the drummer has a killer voice too, compliments Julia’s so well
Kind of a laid back sound, looks like the heads are a bit loose and the cymbals have a kind of bronze quality to them
@@williamoliveira1409 I don't know about that. The drums seem too loud to me, and I can't hear Jacklin's guitar at all.
It's funny that some people just hear that shit. Regular people don't recognize those things, but I'm with you.
i love this version. as a strokes fan i really appreciate it when artists who make covers of their songs respect the original but still successfully execute doing their own take of the song. and i love how julia jacklin's voice kinda reminds me of fiona apple's soulful music.
Facts
Now THAT'S how you cover a song.
EXACTLY. Don't make a carbon copy of the original, add a twist.
@@ColmK83I guess…maybe it will grow on me
its almost 2021, almost 4 years later. Still the best like a version ever. Can't wait to tour together Julia!
This blew my socks off, my socks are both off of my feet now and I have to pick them back up
ayy my man dom love your stuff
tough crowd
Teddy Holiday At least it's better than Pilot's cover of Hotel California with vocals way too loud and no guitar solo. Not to mention acoustic covers of The Eagles songs are just shite anyway.
tough crowd
Hate to tell you this but from what I can tell all you do is play video games and have no actual music talent or understanding of what goes into music. Can you tell me the signature they are plying in without looking up the signature for the original song? Do you understand why most covers are different from the original? You clearly are just one of those I heard someone say it so i say it like i know it myself type of people who think they know everything and clearly do not.
Sounds like a 50s prom. I love it!
That would be a 50s prom waaaaay ahead of its time, but I kinda see what you're saying
Never thought about it like that; makes it more beautiful somehow 😊
Agreed!
I wish I had somebody to share things with
David Matias someday
same
You always have TH-cam.
Amen
Just lost the person that i would send that..
With Julia singing, I actually listened to the lyrics and appreciated Julian's writing more.
This is by far my favourite like a version ever! I could listen all day.
l3apingLizaRds listen to oh my (someday) cover
It's really good...I'd put AURORA's cover of "Teardrop" above it though
Try this one for size
th-cam.com/video/Mwuq8GI8LME/w-d-xo.html
I do like it but the dmas cover of believe was just too perfect
@@MrDarkbob definitely not as good as this one
I just want a whole collaboration album now “Julian and Julia”
I didn't realize how beautiful the lyrics are until I heard this version
This may be the greatest cover of all time. This shit just hits me some type of way I’ve never felt.
My favorite song by The Strokes, interesting twist and introduced me to a new artist.
Haha, weirdest place to find you dude.
Me too ! Beautiful.
I just wanted to listen to this song on spotify.
I've been so addicted to someday (the original version) through all these years that finding a cover that actually gives the song an up, is mesmerizing.
Same!
Exactly!
It's on Spotify now!
Joost Leenen can you share the link pls
@@thisisiararat I don't think youtube allows that. Just go to Julia Jacklin's page on Spotify and find "Someday (triple j like a version)" under latest release or under singles and EP's.
Loved the new camera work! Didn't go unnoticed!
Discovering this is truly the best thing that has happened to me this 2022. I simply can't stop listening and i get chills everytime.
I really love female singers with this type of deep and reverby voice. Julia Jacklin did a cover of Nick Cave's Skeleton Tree and sang it phenomenally.
As someone who loves the orignal and played it during a "coming of age" period of my life I assumed the song could not be improved on. And then there is Julia Jacklin giving a whole new interpretation, introducing layers of subtlety the original did not have. Wow. Amazing.
the only complaint i have is that it ends
Lol that was cute
the only complaint I have is that your name is my ex's name th-cam.com/video/wQpkbxxXt9k/w-d-xo.html
💔
once the video ended i was like, Is this it?
@@KelWh underrated comment
this cover sounds like it belongs in an indie movie where the main character is reflecting about their life as a young adult with big life decisions to make
stop. theres probably a. million comments like this. "this sounds like in a romance movie and the guy gets dumped int the rain" stop.
@@michaelatias7021 lol💀
LMFAO
the original song is like that but in real life... like being sad, nostalgic, young and trying to make it in life.
Right before the protagonist makes the fateful decision that defines the rest of the movie plot - for better or worse
She has the perfectly strange voice for this cover. Love it!
Tony Baryenbruch agreed
Tony Baryenbruch aiiiu
Haha perfectly strange is a wonderfully apt description!
Perfectly strange like your name, eh Tony Baryenbruchstein?

Lyrics:
In many ways, still miss the good old days
Someday
Someday
Yeah, it hurts to say but I want you to stay
Sometimes
Sometimes
When we was young, oh man did we have fun
Always
Always
Promises they break before they're made
Sometimes
Sometimes
My ex says I'm lacking in depth
I will do my best
You say you wanna stay by my side
Darling your head's not right
I say alone we stand, together we fall apart
Yeah, I think I'll be alright
I'm working so I won't have to try so hard
Tables, they turn sometimes
Oh, someday
Now I ain't wasting no more time
Trying, trying
And now my fears, they come to me in threes
So I
Sometimes
They fade, my friend, you say the strangest things
I find
Sometimes
Oh my ex says I'm lacking in depth
Still I will try my best
You say you wanna stay by my side
Darling your head's not right
I say alone we stand together we fall apart
Yeah, I think I'll be alright
I'm working so I won't have to try so hard
Tables, they turn sometimes
Oh someday
I ain't wasting no more time
Ahhhhh what a good cover! They made it their own but kept the beauty of the original
cornflour your mom is a good cover.

This is when it starts . For all the people listening to it on repeat :)
why isn't this comment higher? let's lift it up, guys!!
Its also on streaming services. That's how I listen to it 400 times in a row.
That snare iS FACKin glorious
Nosaj you’re missing out on her vocals Bruh.... the passion, you can’t replicate that. One of the best covers ever, period. Wow
Tyler West let people enjoy what they want. This isnt a competition, as a drummer, hearing someone who knows how to tune their snare and play it flawlessly gets me excited too. It doesnt take away from anything else in the song.
drums are the first things that tend to hit my ears in a song and this was fuckin beautiful here here
@@tylerwest5623 whats wrong with u
Still one of the best recordings in history.
oF aLL TIMEEEE1!!!
Seriously though!!! It's so perfect!
What an incredible version! It sounds like a completely different song,
I'll never stop loving this cover. It breaks my heart every time.
this is absolutely phenomenal
I really want The Strokes to hear how how their master piece was made into another masterpiece. I think they would be very proud. So, so lovely.
Just cried listening to this version - simply beautiful.
Shaggy killing it on Guitar.
He killed it like he did god
Freddy on bass

This is one of the best covers I’ve ever heard, the guitarist in the middle has the most gorgeous tone I’ve ever heard
like this has to be top 10 covers of any song in existence
This version really helps you understand how much work was put into those lyrics. :)
The original is fave of mine...and from the first few seconds this was absolutely superb. One of my fave Like a Versions ever.
Is it just me or is this it one of the best front to back albums of all time. Every song is a memory
Honestly one of the greatest like a versions ever, I listen to this at least once a day
At first l didn’t like this but after the first minute of them playing I fell in love with this rendition. I respect it very much. Beautiful.
Her voice is so beautiful and I love the strokes. 🔥🔥
this is the most beautiful song ive ever heard
It's finally on Spotify. This is the reason I found Julia Jacklin.
Sometimes it's amazing how a song can change so much when you apply a different intention when interpreting it. Beautiful version!
I have been watching these Like a Version's for ages, this one hit real good for me. Amazing. I think I have couple of her tunes in my playlists, I think I will go and re-listen.
Just discovered this angelical melody. My ears were blessed.
Ahhhhh so amazing! Julia has such a gorgeous voice!
Gorgeous everything, am I right?
The sound mix on just about every Like a version performance I've watched has been wonderful.
She has a beautiful voice...it’s emotive and rather mellifluous if I say so myself. Fantastic job.
I NEED TO SEE THE STROKES LIVE! BEEN A FAN SINCE late 2001 0r early 02. When I got their album. Is This It and played it every day for over a year!
Drop into this one every few months or so. Beautiful.
love your pfp
when I was 18 my sweet lil boyfriend at the time would always say he sucked at gifts, but he showed me this cover- a gift i still treasure 6 years later
If I had the power to erase the first :54 seconds from existence I would
Nick Jennings The last three absolutely ruined my night
we would all be in your debt.
Harsh but I slightly get what you mean, only slightly mind...
Jimmy, he means the inane babble , not beautiful julia.
@@Merrykringles Well yea but she's part of that "inane babble", anyway the point is it's a fantastic cover. Something I'm sure we can all agree on.
damn. I have listened to this so many times. Ive seen Julia Jacklin live and damn... goose bumps every time.
this cover is incredible I don’t even feel wrong in saying that it’s even better than the original and I am a life long strokes fan
Strokes are one of my all time favorite bands, and I completely agree. I can't stop listening
🤨🤨🤨
It makes the song even more sad due to the melancholy sound of the instrument
@@trickassley i share this sentiment. it's dreamy and wistful.
It's beautiful. But not better than the original. Calm down.
I listened to this all the time during a break up. Now I this song reminds me of that memories and the pain... 😔
I just can't stop listening to this. Such a beautiful cover.
I am still listening it on repeat.
It's crazy how much I listened to this version
This cover never fails in leaving tears in my eyes.
I Really hope this goes up on Spotify omg :)))
Molly Standish "someday"
Agreed
Agreed
So neither act get any money for it 🤣
Still havent :(
I am absolutely dumbfounded at how good this cover is. Massive strokes fan here but I love indie music too. This is magical.
I feel like I've just struck gold. This is an absolutely incredible cover
Such a pro. The music starts and that light shines on her and it’s magic.
I am a huge Strokes fan and I love this, kudos to these guys!
I put this on a loop sometimes because it just hits so hard, I love the original but I think this might be better.
You might like a band called The Doublejumps if you like Julia Jacklin
i graduate tomorrow and i move in three weeks... this song seems to capture how i’m feeling right now. things are gonna change so much in just a few weeks and it’s so weird to be aware of that fact when everything is currently as it has always been. i’m going to miss so many things
Hey, how’s your life now? I graduated 3 years ago and life zoomed by so fast since yet not much seemed to have changed
Such a fantastic cover, Julia Jaclin voice beautifully conveys the raw emotions contained in the lyrics, the bittersweet feeling of surrendering to growing up, the nostalgia of remembering the good old days as they slowly fade away in time... Made me tear up a little in a good way :3

Lucindah Perry Is that her real name or was that a joke?
Since day 1 I have been a huge strokes fan. Travelled very far to see them live. This made my freekin day. Very very nice job. I would like the whole record on this style honestly. Bravo.
I love covers that are reimagined. Such a different perspective. Brilliant work 👌
I come here a lot by the way.
Isabel Paige brought me here! Thank you Isabel! Love this song!❤

I am blown away. The drummer's snare sound, the harmonies, the EVERYTHING. Fucking perfect.
this cover is one of my top listened to songs on spotify, it’s so so perfect
I keep coming back to this time and time again.
I never get tired of listening to this version. Thank you Julia!
Well I’m crying. This song’s lyrics make me so sad and the way they covered it was fulfilling.
She took this great song and somehow made it even better. Such a magnificent cover
here I am once again... this sends a certain chill down my spine that I simply cannot compare
Bautiful sound and the drums rock!!
Always have loved the Strokes. This cover is like none other. It's absolutely flawless.
I come back and listen to this like twice a week still
I listen to this on spotify pretty regularly. Already loved the original but this version is amazing as well.
New videographer? Impressive job. Thumbs up!
Guido Serrano hahaha i feel it too. all those cameras move smooth af :3
Guido Serrano this is what i thought too, the travels make it look like a music video. very impressed
cameraman -_-
That was incredible. Idk how I've went without hearing this!!
that was lit. takes a lot to cover the strokes and get away with it
Bryan Farrales very well put and true
Not "lit" though, never "lit" but yea I take your point and essentially agree with it :-)
who says she did.
Jimmy Colville l
agreed but dont think they got away with it
crazy that this is the first video that introduced me to the strokes. at the time i absolutely hated their sound but now they're my favorite band of all time
This makes me so happy. I love Julian and I love Julia. Fuck yeah 🤘🏽💕
