I've always fancied an NA Type R, but after having an M140i, I'm a bit worried that I'd find it way too slow. I'm sure the Type R would be more involving to drive, but I love the feeling of straight line power.
I had a stock one of these and it was plenty rapid enough, this must feel quick and I love the launch control,the cracks and bangs would get tedious after a while but at least you can turn the racket off, tdi North are the people to see with the ep3. 👌
Great work with the exhaust, map and the new bhp but lose the pops and bangs - sounds like the car has a dose of the shits or its fucked. The deep noise you get as you take your foot of the pedal and decelerate is a million times better.

@@adam_s2k You are right that different dynos differ from measurements but maybe just between 1 to 2 horsepower at most. There is a set formula to calculate horsepower so if you have a propper dyno it shouldn't differ that much. So he maybe didn't gain 15bhp from the exhaust but definitely at least 13bhp.
Jos Designs I’ve never been on TDI’s dyno so cant comment really. But it is well known amongst the Honda community for allegedly being a bit generous! And 15bhp does seem a lot from just an exhaust diameter increase on an n/a engine without a tune! I was at tegiwa when he had it dyno’d there and in his defence it was a very hot day and both our cars suffered for it. So there’s also that to consider! I’d be interested in getting mine on TDI’s dyno just to see if the myths are true or not!
Jos Designs loads of variables to consider unfortunately, air temp, humidity all sorts, how accurately the dyno is calibrated etc. I gained 13bhp once just by having the bonnet open! You can only really compare dyno runs from the same dyno on the same day etc. Great tools for tuning and comparing figures on the day. But not great if you just want to know what power your cars making as you’ll get slightly different figures all the time.

Liking that mid range torque aren't you? It's like a different car really. So much better to drive normally too, just feels more torquey everywhere. I have the car totally stock but with a map and it's already so much better. BTW can you tell me exactly what parts you have fitted to get 238? I know you have the gruppe m and skunk 2 exhaust but what about the exhaust manifold?
Yes Jesse I got my fn2 remapped with cobra exhaust and sounds similar to yours without the pops and bangs and your right after remapping it’s like a complete different car 👍🏻👌🏻💯

They are more expensive to buy out here because they are rare. In UK there are so many EP3s to choose from! But yes indeed finding a good one is difficult because alot of people have driven them like dickheads. To answer your question yes they are very strong engines and can take a beating but it still depends on how the car has been maintained. If it has service history then great! Mine didn't have service history but the engine runs very well. You need to listen to the engine and look for bad signs when test driving an EP3. Read this buying guide it tells you everything to look out for garagedreams.net/buyers-guide/honda-civic-type-r-ep3-buying-guide-history. So in conclusion yes the engines are bullet proof but not idiot proof.

I got my fn2 remapped with cobra exhaust and sound just like that without the pops and bang,and the car is totally different with remap 👍🏻👌🏻
