Not sure what you mean by a Royal Caribbean Travel Agent vs Independent TA. Royal Caribbean doesn't have any TAs, they just have employees. A Travel Agent will be independent. I recommend booking through a TA, not the cruiseline. This way if there are any issues, you have someone to advocate for you. They don't get kickbacks, but they get paid by the cruiseline AFTER you sail. They get a percentage of your fare. But you will pay the same price regardless, so it's always better to book with a TA
