Beautiful boat. That electric fridge door seems absurdly useless though. Another part to fail, takes up space within the fridge, and takes 10x longer to open than just grabbing a handle.
I think you are being harsh. This is the owner's 10th X-yacht so I expect they are highly experienced and know what they need. There may be a mobility or strength issue with one of the owners that necessitates such a thing, or something else. But, this is the internet, and judgement is everywhere...
Nice job Toby. With spring just around the corner I hope to see many more. I'm retiring as a Tugboat Captain for 30+ years in NY Harbor and some keen investments over the years will put me in one of these beautiful boats soon. Looking forward to that.
Nice job, Toby. As someone who has never sailed on a vessel with lines led aft concealed under the coachroof what happens when a line is accidentally pulled through without a mouse attached? Is each fed through individual 'electrical conjute' so you could feed fresh line through it or do you have to 'dig up the dexk'?
I’m thinking similarly - Personally I prefer the practicality of non- concealed lines, since I can replace a broken one quickly and without any hustle. Admittedly I don’t know how easy or hard it is to pull a new line on such boat (my boat doesn’t have concealed lines, and I’m dreading the day a halyard breaks and I need to thread it through the mast 😳.) But the optics of the flush deck is appealing …
Ball of cotton wool fluff + very light nylon fishing line + decent vacuum cleaner with plenty of suck. Goes through faster than you can sneeze. But, yes! Digging the deck also works.
Marina minded galey. Do people sail their yachts these days or paying for transit? (I believe that you will improve your audio with a wireless microphone.)
$1m boat seems super basic...except for that automatic/electric freezer door. lol. You can tell Toby wasnt feeling it. Then again, when its the base model, what are you going to point out that's exceptional?! *to credit the of the 11 time X-Yacht owner - im sure they just took delivery of the boat and will be adding all the other necessary features in later. Then again, where do you go after "electric freezer door"?! lol
970.000 Euros as a "start from" price? If I paid that amount, I would feel like I am paying for Danish manufacturing inefficiencies or subsidizing somebody's jigalo/mistress in Denmark. At that price range, why not go for a Contest yacht with its solid Dutch boat building behind?
Nice boats. They are built to a standard well above the usual pop outs that dominate the scene, which is why they are more expensive. It is a pity you did not detail that as opposed to your usual routine details on the interior design and decoration. Did you ever consider becoming an owner's wife sales consultant?
All due respect, I would never spend my one penny on a product from Denmark nowadays. Denmark is going through a strange period. One after another. Like committing human rights violations by stripping the refugees of their valuables. Letting USA's NSA spy on fellow European politicians (Merkel etc) by tapping on the communications cables. Any penny on Danish products is the support of such acts.
Completely agree. I used to have a high opinion of Denmark from 80s. They trashed all their reputation. Even my Bang & Olufsen that I paid a fortune in 1988 does look ugly nowadays....
@@michaelg7637 Well, Turkey has accepted more then 4 million refugees from Syria alone. What did Denmark do? Sent their navy boats to the Aegean sea for illegal pushbacks of refugees as a part of the corrupt renegade Frontex border police of EU. And Turkey is much poorer than Denmark. Yet Turks did not steal the valuables of refugees like those shameless Danes. It reminds me of what Nazis did in WWII. Real shame.
Like most people, I find this fridge opening system to be ridiculous. I wish we could have heard more about how the boat feels even in light wind and see how the grane works for the dinghy. Not impressed from this video at all. It did not teach me anything new about this boat.
Hmmm... -- QUESTION -- Why do you always hide your review with almost "no wind" when reviewing a new sailboat. Getting tired of the excuses. Next time, we want a proper wind and a proper review in those types of conditions. You are obviously picking review dates on days when there is little or no wind.
Thank you for the review Toby.
That spray dodger is slick af
that is a beauty - only things you need is a water maker and barbecue and your set for circumnavigation
Beautiful boat. As always interesting and informative. Thanks!
Is a stairlift in the companionway an option to complement the assisted fridge top?

Exactly, never waste time fixing a problem that doesn't exist
@@attonicuc44 Yeah, it does seem like an answer to a question nobody was asking. Party trick, but worthless otherwise in terms of everyday usability

fish tape or push pull rods, you'd never need to dig up a deck

Let’s see it go 20 knots
impressive, half the price of a swan that size and does seem to be of the same caliber.

Lol, he did say the owners will the ARC next year.
Absolutely agree.
Your opinion about furling boom ?
I'm sorry, but that super slow fridge door seems a bit annoying,,,
I like many things but that electric fridge opener is a joke and a waste of time and space.
It would get annoying real fast waiting for that fridge

How much is a new Contest 55CS? Seems the closest in size. I'll bet you won't be far off in price.
So, uh, news flash... Matching wind speed in light air on a reach is pretty standard these days.
Nice, open living, galley area. But the powered freezer lid seems like a waste of valuable space and power..
Dream boat.
I'm more in the Rapido 60, Bañuls 53 tri or imaginary ~53-60 feet custom full carbon Dragonfly category...
No no. You dont open a door for trash. Just make a hole. And ventilat with a fan. Plus sort and compost. Plastic grinder. 😄
Beautiful boat
But that electric fridge door are somehow funny :)
Ikea interior!..
sprayhood and bimini design strengthen the sporty look. nice

The X-Yachts are class and above the riff-raff sailboats. As you can see the elegant X-Yacht sailboat is caring a Norwegian sails for good reason.
@@kenhart8771 do you really call Contest yacht a "riff-raff" boat?

That price! She better be quick... shame with all these low wind reviews.
Pretty, but I’ll stick with my slow, pretty Hinckley Sou’Wester 59.
I can already hear the 'zero protection, not a real sailors boat, fine for the med etc etc' comments incomming
