    Pretty exciting presentation... For once, I might be willing to trade Azuree 46 or Grand Soleil GS 48 for this Swan...

    With this Swan 55, Nautor's Swan seems to be giving in to the latest trend of keeping the max beam all the way to the stern. This is one remarkable difference compared to Swan 54 which has beautiful classical lines. The sole reason of not updating the Swan 54 but instead coming up with Swan 55 could be hedging their bets in the market... The end result seems to be a great boat but I wonder if and how it changes the sailing characteristics from 54 to 55.
    I wonder if Euphoria yachts will do the same with their 54.

      I am sure you are on to something. This boat will not go upwind the same and lack the sea-kindly nature in bigger seas of a more traditional Swan hull shape.
      It will be faster downwind and be roomier aft. If you want "that" boat, buy a Club Swan.
      When I look at a Swan, I'm looking for a boat that handles weather like an Island Packet while staying fast and maneuverable like a J/boat. All while having a fit and finish complete unmatched.

      I think Euphoria 54 is to be compared with Swan 54 and not Swan 55.
      Nautor's Swan seems to have created "55" to keep up with the latest trend of keeping the max beam all the way to the stern. Given the option between Euphoria 54 and Swan 54, I would definitely choose Euphoria. Same designer, at least the same engineering quality and lower price.

    Compared to Swan 54, this Swan 55 has a beamy aft in line with current trends. Basically German Frers replicated in Swan 55 what he had already done for Euphoria 54.

    Great boat, anyone else wonder about sharing a bathroom with guests? I'd love to see more office options built into show boats. Toby, I think you're spot on. You're not really going to host two or three couples on a 55 anyway. I could see my wife and I picking up our son in port and just hosting one, where an office would be very appealing.

    Swan never disappoints, the boards on the floor creak a little, but nothing that a little moisture won't solve
    It looks as well made as other swan models
    BUT they have this weird space layout but I realized they don't make them for charter so they only have two cabin layout options

  • @puertola7186
    @puertola7186 ปีที่แล้ว

    Frers indeed seems to have adopted the latest trend of boxy aft design. The major difference between Swan 54 and Swan 55. Anynody knows how it effects the sailing characteristics?

    Swan know their market, they will sell plenty of these, but I find these big open cockpits with side seating only for the helm very insecure, exposed and uncomfortable for short handed offshore passages. The only reason we see this ubiquitous feature is to fit in fit in the dinghy garage, but this one looks as if loading an unloading even a modest rib & outboard would take some serious muscle. When I am alone on watch at night I want to be ‘in’ the cockpit, not perched on the rail, I also want the chart table / nav station at the bottom of the companionway for easy voice comms to the on deck crew. But for the Med / Carribs & the odd regatta I supose this ticks some boxes.

      For 99% of sailors boats like this are perfect. A tiny minority does offshore sailing. And even for offshore sailing a boat like this can easily handle anything thrown at it in speed and luxury.

    The helm stations aren't back far enough. Should of put them down on that beaver tail 2 inches away from the rear edge. The captain can will just have enough room for his tippy toes to stand and steer. What a ridiculous design.

      @@metegokce697 The latest Bavaria 55 that is no longer in production also has a similar dinghy garage. That boat has a manual back-up way to open and close that dinghy garage. There’s a Norwegian dude who is solo-sailing one of those here on TH-cam (Sailing with Thomas). He has demonstrated it on his channel since the motorized part of his garage door broke for some reason. Guessing some similar back-up way to open and close exists on this Swan… And: Aren't all boats compromises in some way. The pros of a Dingy Garage seems to be that the center of gravity is kept low, sun protection of the Dinghy and that it's a secure way of stowage in 'demanding' sea conditions... That Thomas dude also outlines his way of reasoning for choosing a boat with a garage in one of his videos...
