Let's summarize the issues I had in episode 9. The doll was supposed to be a part of Cody. The doll then wanted to have s** with a 14 year old and described his genitals in great detail as he was getting out of the pool in slow motion. So that means Cody basically wanted to have s** with a child subconsciously. She then attempts to get the child to have s** with the doll but fails and he RUNS away. Then Cody basically calls the child a liar, once confronted and plays the victim. That's all you hear about that and the show moves on like it never happened. I'm so disturbed by how they felt like it was okay to put that scene into the show.

This isn't due to feminism. It is due to hold over patriarchal thinking. The idea that a boy can't really be raped or sexually exploited by a woman predates feminism by hundreds if not thousands of years. The idea, and believe me I do NOT agree with it, is that a guy ALWAYS wants sex and since only straight people matter, a guy will ALWAYS want sex with a woman. So if a woman initiates sex, even sex with a minor, he is supposed to be happy about it and other guys are supposed to congratulate him on "getting some." Most of the people who have made movies/tv that show that POV have been men since men have traditionally made most movies and tv and still make a disproportionately high percent of it. I remember an episode of Glee where one of the male leads says he was sexually abused when he was a pre-teen and at first everybody is empathic but then he reveals it was by his female baby sitter and all the boys went "then what's the problem?" and "lucky dog" etc. The girls didn't make fun but weren't really supportive. The people behind the scenes of that show were predominantly male. They didn't even have any female writers at all for most of the show.

Imagine being able to afford Lego in current year (but money can’t stop me from getting at least 2 501st battle packs)

I'm glad I finally found somebody talking about this show. I get advertisements for it pretty often and I was surprised how little I've seen people mention it online.

This just sounds like Wilfred but with an insecure woman and a sex doll instead of a depressed man and a dog

I have to say, the idea is not what I was expecting. I figured it was like "Mannequin" or about a ventriloquist dummy or something.

This "show" is a memorial to the 1% overindulgence. This is a rich person spending thousands of dollars and using her powerful platform to vlog about feeling insecure.

considering the potential this show had, i'd call ur criticism is partly unwarranted. lots of great art comes from people dealing with their insecurities via fiction. u do have a point, tho. the fictionalization is just not strong enough. the way it blurs the line between reality and fiction just doesnt work

Key differentiator is that it's entirely her connections and money that got this produced, not just the fact that she's rich and overindulgent that makes her insecure feelings uninteresting. There are some high-profile artistic works that star an overindulgent rich insecure person that are considered masterpieces.

How did Adult Swim not pick this up? Do they not exist anymore? They used to have the 10ish minute blocks with Metalocalypse.

@@ajoajoajoaj Hmm, true. You'd think a show like this would be something they'd be all over though, given the premise.

Tbh I’ve had doubts about this show from the first couple seconds of the trailer who sees a piece of glitter and immediately jumps too “are you cheating one me”

The vibe of the show reminded me of Living With Yourself with Paul Rudd on Netflix. It’s low key sci fi and psychedelic, stuff you watch while high. And Paul Rudd was also working on a creative project but his clone is way better at it and he’s also jealous of his clone having a better relationship with his wife. Lol there’s so much similarities.
