to show this vulnerable side of yourself is definitely strong and admirable, journaling helps me a lot personally! just remember you will find your way out of this and everything will turn out okay!🧡✨
In Illinois the sun sets at 4:30 or just before, in winter. Then in summer could be light around 9 still. My Hawaii in-laws so confused why the sun was out after 7. It’s pretty constant there.
i really appreciate and admire your honesty in your videos, it’s interesting to see your life in Japan with both the good and the bad and i’m inspired by the effort you put into everything. i’m happy you got some good news at the end as well!! 🧡
I know times can be tough, but please don’t lose hope. Keep your chin up and remember that it's okay to struggle. You are a hardworking and talented person, and brighter days are ahead.😁🧡
This video just highlights the reality of living internationally on short-stay visas, and I just want to say thank you for showing this side of it! Living overseas is so over romanticised, that a lot of people don't realise just how hard it is being away from their support networks and normal comforts and that there is actually quite a bit of daily struggle regardless of the individuals situation. I'm proud of what you're doing Marmalade, and I love the honesty of your vlogs!
Talking with friends helps, but I also like taking showers without the lights on and sad music playing :D I might start going for night walks around Shibuya as well ~
If you still want to move I'd recommend specifically looking for female-only sharehouses - it's not a guarantee but you may have better luck with the cleanliness? When I did my working holiday year in Tokyo I lived in a dormitory sharehouse (female-only, I was in a 4-bed room, and there was also a 6-bed room. One bathroom, one shower) because it's what I could afford (by the end of the year I only had about 2K debt, mostly from the last month because I quit my job a month early to travel a bit more before going home). I'd been staying at hostels while travelling so it was comfortable compared to that. I bought a used sewing machine and kept it in the corner of the living room and used it when people weren't watching TV. My bed was spacious and had curtains and a little window so I could hide in there and be alone with my laptop and headphones. The dorm was 5 minutes walk from my part time job and I could afford it with just the pay from my part time job, so I liked it. I had to sleep with earplugs because I worked evenings and slept in the morning, but most of the roommates were Japanese so they weren't aaaanywhere near as loud as a dormitory at home would be (I'm from Canada). It wasn't particularly filthy because one of the residents got cheaper rent in exchange for cleaning, and there was a rule that you had to clean up the kitchen right after using it (that said, I still used flip flops in the shower). It was miles better than the larger, slightly cheaper, co-ed dorm house I stayed at for my first 2 months, so I considered myself lucky that I found the second place! I couldn't live in a place like that permanently, and now that my health is worse I would never consider sharing a room anymore, but when I was 29 it didn't bother me too much because I knew it was temporary and I was there to experience Japan rather than build a home. Personally if I was there for less than a year I would prioritize cleanliness and location, and not be too picky about how pretty it was inside because in the end you're there to experience Japan, not your apartment, so prioritize spending your money on experiences that you can only have while you're there; an apartment is something you can eventually get anywhere. Your current place looks very nice honestly; you have a whole room and it's not dark; if you're not stuck there forever it doesn't need to check every box. Of course this is just my own opinion (and I say this as a homebody introvert Canadian who now has an apartment and never goes out anymore LOL. I socialized more during my year in Japan than I ever have in my life and I don't regret staying in a cheap place at all, because I made most of my memories when I was out doing stuff
Thank you for sharing your experience! I’m definitely keeping those tips in mind, especially since this apartment hunt is so stressful right now. I'm definitely open to looking around more, I just really want my space like around 10m~ if not more with lots of sunlight! Luckily I'm not in debt, yet, other than my student debt but I have time to pay that off!
I brought my dogs over here to Japan from Canada and finding an apartment as a foreigner WITH dogs was next to impossibleeeeeee. After a (disgusting-ly) high cleaning fee I was able to secure a cute lil 1LK in Ikebukuro area, but man was the hunt dis-heartening...
Oh wow I can't imagine how difficult it was, that sounds like a real challenge! I have heard this from pet owners, I'm so happy you were able to find one in the end though omg!!! Good work!!!
Unfortunately as someone who lives in Shizuoka prefecture, I think higher price points just come with living in a big city and in Tokyo especially. Have you ever considered living further away from Tokyo? Or even considering other prefectures?
Its been almost 5 months since I have moved! House hunting was so stressful, especially with a WHV it felt like a race (and you find yourself compromising...) you'll have to look at many places but I am sure you'll find something just right
I felt you so much saying how hard it was apartment hunting, I've been looking at Universities and out of 5 only one of them really caught me as hitting all of my high points, the four not great ones I had seen steadily built a hard lump of doubt in my mind. It gave me so much imposter syndrome and doubt towards the job I want to pursue that I am still dealing with bit by bit. A lot of getting better is taking the time to be extra kind and understanding to yourself and keep talking with friends or family about what's up instead of bottling it up. 🧡
I hope that you can find something that you like and suits your needs!! It’s so difficult to make such life impacting decisions like this when there aren’t many good options 😔🧡
"Maybe I just need some food in me and then I'll feel better". Truer words were never spoken. Nah fr though, I always love the way you share your honest experience in your vlogs rather than acting happy 24/7. Super glad you had some positive news by the end :3
Heheh I’m so glad you liked the vlog! 🥰 I’ve started getting a lot better at separating when my body just needs food/water/sleep rather than emotionally drained 🥲💛
Unfortunately these are issues that come along with being young. It helps me to realize that others have felt what I have felt and to have realistic expectations of life
Awwh im sorry appartment hunting hasn't been the best, :( I let all the ads play when i watch your videos to help you get some money from youtube!!🥰 I think for me when im sad.. i just allow myself to get the emotions out and try not to feel guilty about it. I like need to let it out and not just avoid!
when i first started watching your vlogs, and in the comments you talked about your share house rent was so cheap i got so jealous i wish that was posible for me but ive been really unlucky with rent, wich is why i cant really live in japan for more than 2 months, even thou my visa allows 6 months, i cant afford that much lol
@@Marmaladecos no worries, knowlage is limited these days, so its only posible to get a good pespective thru your own research or interviewing others! ill find a good real estate agent eventually i got this
Great video as always. Also at 7:12 was that subtitle supposed to be "sh!thouses" or was it supposed to be "sharehouses" either way I think you meant the same thing. But good luck with things!
Unfortunately the rental situation is no better in Australia :( Do you have any family or friends you can move in to if you need to go back to Australia? Sorry to hear about the tax bill, we get charged way too much tax. Congratulations on the job offer! Are you able to tell us about the new job?🧡
Yeah every now and then I check Australian rent prices and also just feel so so sad because there are barely any good options for rentals 😭 I don’t have a place to move back into other than couchsurfing, so I really have to find a way to make things work
Thanks for sharing and being so honest and upfront about your experiences. If you end up with a tax bill, you can call the ATO and arrange a tiny payment plan if you don't have a stable income.
I'm sorry but what kind of job wants you to sing the abc song??? That sounds like a wild request. You might want to look at long term airbnb rentals. :) They have those open for options. I'm looking at those for myself.
It's an english teaching job actually~!! There's a fair bit of singing involved for it too!~ The Airbnb rentals I could find all seem to be extremely expensive from what I could find honestly!
i always love how honest these vlogs are, they are really true and emotional but your positivty always gives me hope
I'm happy that I feel so safe with you guys being able to express myself completely without any fear~!!
I love how raw you are, not sugarcoating things makes it more genuine.
I really want to document everything that I experience very clearly to show that life isn't always super amazing ~

Thank you so much Leo!! ☺️🧡 I hope so too!!

WOaahhhhh so early right~? I'm missing Aussie SUnshine right now, I bet Hawaii is soooo beautiful!

Thank you so much!! ☺️ I want to share a more realistic approach to life here and how things can be really difficult at times 😔
I know times can be tough, but please don’t lose hope. Keep your chin up and remember that it's okay to struggle. You are a hardworking and talented person, and brighter days are ahead.😁🧡
Awhhh thank you so much 😭🧡 It really means a lot to hear you say that. 💖
The emotional whiplash in this video ;n;
Oopsies 😭😅🧡 There’s more coming ahhaha

I heard from alot of people that apartment shopping in japan is harder for foreigners. You got this though ✊️
It’s very difficult!! Unfortunately it’s a lot more expensive too 😭🧡

I have taken a look at moving further out but I worry that I wont do well on my own without being able to see friends :(

Aw thank you so much, I really appreciate the advice! 🙏🧡 Luckily I worked it out with my accountant and now I'm getting a small refund!!~!
im looking for a new job myself really anxious about it and i havent evwn gotten an interview dont worry youll be fine
Good luck with your search!!! 🧡🧡💕
also my tax return was the worst i've ever had this year too, had to pay so much more even with PayG coming out of each payslip
Gosh Im so annoyed it wasn't just me!! I had to fight with my accountant because they weren't actually deducting my business expenses!!!
can you tell me more about this monthly rent please? i'm looking for a room to rent in or near tokyo for 2-3 months and im so stressed about it
You can find places ranging from 40,000-130,000 it really depends on where you want to live and what lifestyle you have!! (monthly prices)
real estate in modern economy is imposible, air bnb like situations are the only way to get a place to live unless youre super rich or can buy one
Unfortunately I really don’t know enough about it 🧡
@@Marmaladecos youre not alone in that, nobody knows anything anymore T=T everything is just chaos when it comes to real estate
