It was end of October. Perfect fall color time, but unfortunately water sources were pretty dry. I did a short section hike near SRWA in mid-September and water was a lot more prevalent then. I know I just gave you way more info than you asked for 😅 hopefully it helps you decide when in Summer/Fall to go NOBO
@Seagrass to Sassafras it all depends on this summers rain events. Last summer was quite dry compared to other summers I've seen out here. September and early October are the dates. I know where all the water sources are. We should be good. Until we are not. Also, we are hiking to Shining Rock tomorrow via Butt Knob and Shinning creek if you aren't already doing anything. Going with wife, and some friends.
