Still looking forward to a tig welding special took your advice on buying tig set to compliment my mig welder but totally different takes much more practice totally trust you all & your approach to quality workmanship please do a tig welding special
Hi Cal & Nat! My wife is from Alabama & we visited the Jack Daniel's facility. The smell was intense! It's in a dry county, so you can't buy to take away. However, you can order anything from one bottle up to a barrels worth delivered to your door! We also visited Gatlinburg Tenn' which is highly recommended. Cheers. Leigh.
That sounds so ironically funny (dry county etc..) I live in the U.K. and our government really encourage drinking as it is one of our main tax revenue providers. TV advertising for alcohol is massive over here…
Sonofagun!! You went from Nashville to Chicago, which takes you right past our shop in St. Louis. Not a hot-rod shop, but do we have 150-200 classics on site - anything from late 1800s electrics to modern supercars with lots of wacky stuff in-between. Would have been a joy to show you guys around just for a different sort of inspiration. Next time you find yourself in the midwest... :)
Dave when you look back in ten years time and see the superb results of your project you’ll be glad yo read this and finally made a start when you did. It will be worth it I’m sure. Kind regards
We had a pit where I worked and just popped in a set of thick floorboards over it when not being used. saved many nasty injuries. Didn’t realise it was legally allowed to be open like that? 🤔
Great video 👍 The braze welding is interesting would be nice to explain why it is a series of Stitch welds not continuous weld as flexibility is critical.
Hey lads great work. What do you wipe the lead loading with? Only asking as we used to wipe cable paper lead joints with a mole skin cloth (don't know whether any moles were actually used).
Excellent stuff, intrigued to know why the project Escorts are having their own bespoke wheel arch profiles. Not complaining just need to know (as opposed to the normal traditional bubble arches)…🤔? Thanks.
But probably won't be worth any more than a well-restored original example....(love the C.F. idea though - really inspired, my favourite project of theirs)
The E-Type and Camaro are just being done beautifully; I love them! Morris & Landcruiser? No thanks, not for me; Morris way too busy and the Landcruiser; well, I just don't like them.! Hehe I don't have to reiterate, that your standard of workmanship, is superb! Wish I could afford, to commission you with a job, just for the experience!
On the Etype steering rack you said "it's actually a left hand drive rack flipped upside down" would that not make the steering work in the opposite direction i.e. if you turn left the car turns right? I cannot think Retropwer would make a mistake like this...🤔
@@retropowercars Should be fine then, A friend of mine did flip a rack over once to fit his Pop,(many years ago) after several days of fabrication he sat in the driver's seat and to his horror when he turned right the wheels went left, luckily I was there to witness his reaction and offer my support 😂
2:06 - '61 pontiac - I WANT... But without those wank large diameter wheels that are totally out of keeping with the period and look, and a proper ride height!
How do you get a left hand drive steering rack albeit flipped upside down to steer in the correct direction?I've flipped a steering rack on a kit car ,from left to right hand drive, and turning the wheel caused the wheels to steering in the wrong direction.Had to source a replacement RHD rack.
Living here in Arizona we run into the issue of scratches in glass and when I worked at the local Chevy dealership we used a type of acid that helped get them out... I'll find out what it was and let you know...
It's a type of wheel acid that was gotten from an auto detailing outfit...gets rid of fine scratches... it's for mag and aluminum wheels... Auto Care is the company name for auto detailing
Disappointed to see a DAB aerial stuck on the inside of the windscreen on Morris - was there no more aesthetic alternative which arguably might also have provided a better signal?
@@retropowercars If you want to know why dab aerials are so absolutely shite, it’s because the DAB signal is actually broadcast on the same frequency previously used for black and white television. Now I’m sure you remember what a tv aerial had to look like to work ! The only DAB aerial we ever had any luck with were the bee sting type amplified switching type form hirschmann or pioneer. 10 years in the car audio trade. Love your work.
So, my question is, are Retro Power Cars going to build something new as their own car? With the expertise they could do limited runs of say, brand new Jenson's.
Does anyone know why Redux don’t mention Retropower do all the work? Why would anyone use Redux? Wouldn’t you just go straight to RP and save several thousand pounds?
Seeing Alonso drive to third and now the evening snack of retropower- just lovely
Hahaha I totally agree
Yes! Absolutely excellent 👍

Love those hinged PDU/ECU mounts! Brilliant!
Glad you enjoyed the US
Love following the progress on the builds.
Nice work and hope the team feel better soon.

All the best for Marc

You should have gone to the Museum of the US Air Force in Dayton Ohio,it’s amazing and HUGE!
Making great progress! Looks like Morris and Toyota projects will be finished up soon.
Love to see the Escorts progressing well, I need all the motivation I can get for my project!

Awesome as Always...Another great vid
Cracking vid as per usual. Thanks
Thanks for the upload gentlemen.
All hail the algorithm
Top work again boys, everything looking good . I wish you would make / buy an alloy grate over the front of that pit
I strongly agree. Looks like an accident waiting to happen.
It's normally covered with a car, but of course you do need to get into the pit somewhere so has to be uncovered when in use
@@retropowercars I fully understand but i still think just a light weight movable ally grate would be a good idea .

@@09gearchange I worry about it constantly and have written to them several times about it. (I’m retired HSE trained) …

Im here for the escorts.. : )

i think they explained it. doing stitches rather than continuous welds reduces the likelihood of cracking.
Already explained!

We actually did go to Springfield!!

The CV8 will be awesome. It seems as though it will be the first CV8 that isn't a thrown together shed...
I'm amazed how crappy they really are! Premium product? I don't think so.

You’ve just accurately described the U.K. 1960s car industry ha ha! 😁
Epic video as usual. But my OCD kicked in when the pattern on the quarter panels and door panels didn't match up 4:38
It's the viewing angle. Rear cards are inset further so when viewed from a high angle they look lower down

Steering rack is behind axle on mondeo, infront on etype.

Because mondeo rack is behind the axle, etype is infront.
Fun fact - a rhd Lotus Elite (Type 14) uses a lhd Triumph Herald rack

"There's been a bit of a bug going around .." Could that be because you turn up to work when you're sick?
I’m intrigued by the CV8 rebuild in carbon. Has it ever been done before by anyone ?
Don't think so
I think the objective is to use the buck for mass production?
One day, if I'm ever rich enough I'd love for you to work your magic on a 40's or 50's COE truck for me.
