  • To say that I fell out of love with having a campfire feels so wrong - but it was the truth. So I set about building what I believe is the ultimate camp fire pit combo for traveling and overlanding. Hope this gives you some good ideas, and please if you have any suggestions about how to improve my setup, please let me know in the comments below!

    Fire pits are a good thing, I camp at Straddie a lot and the sand is so full of charcoal from years of fires (lots have been from me) that everything gets black after a lengthy stay, I have the same one and love it, you use heaps less wood and can just drag it around to different locations mid fire -either to avoid wind or start on the beach and drag it back to camp, I have a hook on a pole that I use for that👌

    Trivet is for using charcoal when cooking. Lifts it all up

      Ahhh makes sense... I've started using charcoal lately and am loving it! Thanks Dean!

    This whole lot is so expensive. Equivalent to a small camp setup
    Hopefully one day It’ll be on my list of things I bring

      Completely understand Jess… that’s why I called it my ultimate setup because I wasn’t too worried about costs. I’m pretty sure a lot of this gear has dropped in price since I made this video though 🙌

    Nice video mate, got a similar fire pit and they are amazing, the new Drifta table looks ace, looked at what they had a few years back with the snow peak IGT stuff and they had a sick table around the fire pits but there was just too much parts for me but this one being one piece is my next purchase for sure! Only thing I would say to get but you may already have is a good set of gloves for around the fire makes everything easy then as well! Thanks again for the video mate!

      Good on ya Graham - appreciate it mate! I keep a set of welding gloves in with my camp oven so I might have to transition them into the fire pit bag because you are right, they would be handy!

    What about clean up time in the morning or if you want to have a fire in the morning. How long does it take to cool down

    • @TroyStaines
      @TroyStaines  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I use welding gloves to empty the coals out in the morning and the fire pit then takes about 30mins to cool down enough to pack away 😊

    You know this fire pit is a complete ripoff of Snowpeak fire pit. Why don't you honor the ingenuity of the original and buy from them?

    • @TroyStaines
      @TroyStaines  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      In Australia the Snowpeak version of this firepit was extremely expensive when I went searching and found the Darche one for much less outlay. I wasn't aware that Snowpeak were the originals and it was ripped off by Darche?

    20m x 20m??? What seems to be the problem , Mate?
    In a Kiwi 'camp-site', that would be considered 'glamping' while squeezing 4 families into the same space..... and they'd be thrilled to have a gas-burner cooker of some sort under the 'open skies'... Are you recently from the UK?

    Available in the US?

    • @TroyStaines
      @TroyStaines  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm pretty sure that they are! Drifta sell internationally and they now have their own firepit that's the same as the Darche one I use.
