    You can also convert the object to a pattern by selecting it and going to Object > Pattern > Objects to Pattern. Then you can make a different object, say, a large square, and use the newly created pattern as the fill. This way you don't have to worry about having a bunch of duplicated objects or about the pixel gap between snapped objects that don't have a stroke.

      I have tried this, and it looks beautiful in the program, but when I attempt to export the resulting pattern as a png file, it saves the selected area as a black rectangle. My goal is to create a seamless tile pattern for upload to Redbubble, and cloning my base line as shown creates seams that show up in the png file :/ Pattern fill would be great if it worked for me

    I always wonder why sometimes in Inkscape the width/height of an object is different than what it should be. For example, at 6:20 instead of 1000px the height is something like 999,992px, and that's quite annoying.

    • @LogosByNick
      @LogosByNick  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That annoys me too

    • @Yacine3Dz
      @Yacine3Dz 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@LogosByNick this happens because the default units are millimeters . the solution is this:
      go to : 1- File/ Documents Properties.
      2-Select Page.
      3-Set "Display units" to :px
      4-And set "Scale X" to: 1.00
      5-And set" Units" to: px
      (optional)

    Nick.. If you want to create an outset or inset of Text.. is there a way to do this using inset or outset, so the results dont look cartoonish, but rather crisp copy of the original.. ? ..

    Hey Nick, will you make a video on how to do short animation by creating sequential changes in image created with inkscape or how to make .gif. I did not found any single video that tells how to do this. If we can't do it then please tell the other ways to do it. (Please recommend free software's) . Because I want to make an animation of less than 10sec. I did not want to spend my time to learn animation software's cause they are too time consuming and hard to understand. Although inkscape have too much potential your videos made us to understand inkscape easily and made us very comfortable at inkscape.
    Anyone gives answer to my question. Thanks for helping me out in advance.

    As usual, great tutorial, Nick.
    By the way, I've been wondering about your screen resolution. Because you get Align Distribute & Fill Stroke Menu show together without need to scroll or switch between them.

    • @LogosByNick
      @LogosByNick  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      When I'm recording tutorials I set the resolution to 1920 x 1080. I have those two menus open at the same time by clicking and dragging them next to each other manually.

    I love your tutorials. thanks a lot! But I have a question. When I make a mosaic, there a very narrow line that divides each tile. Is there any way to avoid it? Thanks in advance!!!

    • @popdemtech
      @popdemtech 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      he usually says to select the whole image and duplicate it. you will see a noticeable difference in that the lines between the tiles become less visible

    I exported this as a .png file to use as a background on a website to see how it would look. It ended up being enormous and you couldn't see the pattern because it was so large. Did I not save it right? I tried to change the size of it but it didn't fix it.

    Thank you for the tutorials. I am not sure what I'm doing wrong. It's second pattern tutorial that I follow but when I duplicate the tile and attach to the side it shows the seam in between. I don't have any stroke lines on. Why are the seams showing and how to fix it? Thank you

    trying to get my head around inkscape. I get an image on the screen and all is good. I go to cut it on my vinyl cutter and it cuts it mirrored. Is there some way to mirror the image on the screen ? There is no setting that I can see.

    • @roryi6111
      @roryi6111 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      deanotune If you have select tool on, look at the top to the left of the X, Y values and you’ll see where you can raise or lower an object and right next to that are selections to flip your image.

      Equivalent to Photoshop's content aware fill tool. It removes objects from the picture. It's as impressive as photoshop. Sometimes it's better. Maybe you can make a tutorial about it.
