Poor Korey, just sitting there left out. I wonder why she wasn't playing rhythm guitar like she usually does. John was already singing, he should've given her his XD
Chris Ebner No- a rhythm is a continuous piece of the same riff played over and over again by a guitar throughout the song. It doesn't matter whether the guitar is acoustic or electric. In this case John is playing the rhythm guitar
man that chick is blessed with an amazing singing voice no only does her voice shatter barrier's but she is also very beautiful and on top of that she chill's with ledger i think it's safe to say she is a triple threat

Daniel Todorov I know that. I'm no expert, but at live shows (much like the one I was at in September) it sounded like they used playback in addition to her singing. Which would be unfortunate were that so, because I love her voice!
Daniel Todorov Almost every band does. They still sing live, but they have tracks to make more voices than they have singers. The band Shinedown does this with their song Diamond Eyes, in particular. Every mic on-stage is still hot, and they are really singing live, but they run a track along with it.
The way to truly tell if a band/musician has talent. Give them nothing but an acoustic guitar and take away special effects. They sound just as good with as without ^^
@MissErikHassleFan the redhead IS the blonde (Jen)...she just recently died her hair red. she's been the drummer in the band since 2008. there was another blonde girl as the drummer before 2008 on the other records besides awake. but jen has been with them awhile so most live videos have her. she just switched up her hair color
@Bludhoundz8 Oh for sure. They don't do anything bad, like they don't sin at all (I'm sure they have at least once in their lives) I actually got to give them all one big hug :P About a year ago now I got to meet them when they came to Australia. It was pretty damn cool :) Then they played an amazing show afterwards too! Like AMAZING!!! I do like Jen, she is amazing and her voice is brilliant but I love Korey's voice too (when she doesn't try too hard) but I love Lori's drumming style more.
@blackoutez1 Also when they performed this song on the record they had 2 guitar parts, the lead and the rhythm. Since Korey isn't playing rhythm guitar here John is playing the rhythm guitar parts, otherwise the song would sound kind of "empty" if you know what I mean
@Bludhoundz8 I'm trying to find the interview I heard it in but can't find it anywhere so from memory I think John and Ken Steorts started Skillet as a side project, John was the vocalist in his previous band Seraph while Ken was the guitarist in his previous band Urgent Cry. So when they were starting up Skillet, they needed a drummer and a bassist so they got their drummer Trey McClurkin and because John could play bass he decided to be the bassist and vocalist...
@Bludhoundz8 That's an awesome way to hear about Skillet! I appreciate religions and other peoples views but the people that force their views and opinions on others are the ones I have no tolerance for. So of course that is why I have an unimaginable amount of respect for Skillet :)
taken right from the Awake album cover "Korey Cooper - keyboards and programming Jen Ledger - drums and vocals" still say that Korey sings on the studio version??
@babydoll8725 i agree, i love listening to live versions of Skillet! you hear little things that you normally cant hear on the recording! its pretty cool!!!
@Bludhoundz8 I think the biggest part of it though is that none of them took it all too serious because it was just supposed to be a side project. So at the time John's dream of being a lead guitarist could have come true. I agree that electric basses have a good sound with acoustic sets, only if the bassist is good. I can just imagine John pulling out a double bass at a show, playing a real jazzy bass line singing "I am a peanut" hahaha I'd hope he does that one day!!
@Bludhoundz8 Haha so true! John can either be really funny or really serious. He's like a comedian but with proper subjects to touch on. He's an awesome guy! but everyone else in Skillet is pretty awesome too... haha. Each member has their part that makes the band so perfect, that's why it was sad when Ben left. Seth isn't too bad though, he is a good guitarist :) Hopefully their next album will be as good or better than the last one
i cannot believe how innocent the girls look in this. korey seems so chill and jen just looks adorable at 1:42. i think i would die if i ever met themm
@Bludhoundz8 It depends on what album you're listening to. Any female vocals before the Awake album was Korey. Sometimes live though, Korey try's too hard when she sings (I suppose for volume) but then doesn't quite hit the notes. She actually is a really good singer. Yeah Lori taught Jen the set list etc before she left but what I probably should have said is I like Lori's writing style more. Bands are always going to change but I'm always going to love Skillet! :)
@semiswe3ty0y0 i believe john just uses the acoustic for 2 reasons 1 to keep him on the right beat in his singing and 2 so he can get used to how fast the song is before they actually play it that way on the bass he already has it. keep in mind most rock songs are written in acoustic.
@Bludhoundz8 Korey doesn't do vocals in 'Whispers'. Perhaps you're thinking of 'Rebirthing'? That's possibly one of her biggest vocal parts in a song. I just think Jen still has a lot to learn (but don't we all?) I'm not too sure, I love them both. I thought I was the only one that thought Alien Youth had a MM sound! Funnily enough "Rippin' Me Off" was about Manson. Personally I think 'Collide' was and is the greatest album ever! Not just of Skillet, just simply best album EVER! :)
*Skillet - Hero (acoustic)*
- Skillet - monster starts playing -
🤣
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Aww look how shy and nervous Jenny is
so cute 😍
@@delcastilloian yeah boii Cute💖
Poor Korey, just sitting there left out. I wonder why she wasn't playing rhythm guitar like she usually does. John was already singing, he should've given her his XD
in acoustic sets they tend to stay away from rhythm
Chris Ebner No- a rhythm is a continuous piece of the same riff played over and over again by a guitar throughout the song. It doesn't matter whether the guitar is acoustic or electric. In this case John is playing the rhythm guitar
This is... wow... I'm falling in love with John's voice all over again

korey shoudn't have been left out, she is part of the band to.
OMG
I look at them on this recording & I look at them in 2019 😶
Jen was an excellent addition to the band. Too bad Kor doesn't sing anymore. Not even for the Comatose songs.
Korey sings The Last Night live, but I think that's about it.
And back vocals on Comatose
Daniel Todorov I know that. I'm no expert, but at live shows (much like the one I was at in September) it sounded like they used playback in addition to her singing. Which would be unfortunate were that so, because I love her voice!
They most likely are using some backing tracks sadly.

The drummer is to beautifull....
Skillet!
Thank you both for the entertaining discussion.
Korey is just chillin in the back:) I've met her before and she's totally awesome

Awesome song, beautiful voices. ^^ Im not religious but that doesnt stop me from enjoying catholic rock, or any music I like. :D

Бесподобное исполнение, очень классно

Oh ya I remember now, They need to have them both sing more. They both have beautiful voice.
taken right from the Awake album cover

still say that Korey sings on the studio version??
i kinda feel sorry for corey. she's just sitting there. :/
but, this. is. amazing.
i saw them live last night and loved it. ;D
@babydoll8725 i agree, i love listening to live versions of Skillet! you hear little things that you normally cant hear on the recording! its pretty cool!!!
That was awesome!
Love this or die
eu gosto muito dessa banda a musica hero melhor musicas deles
Why isnt Korey doing anything ??? Shes just sitting there :O!!
Is that a Micheal Kelly dragonfly 5 string bass I see in the background? (the shiny orangish one) asking because it looks exactly like mine.
Exactly! It's about the music.
@Bludhoundz8 I think the biggest part of it though is that none of them took it all too serious because it was just supposed to be a side project. Does someone knows in which tuning they are playing??
You're absolutely right.
Oh. how I love them!
Poor Korey, should've given her a guitar..
@srvfan25 When did Ben leave the band? I just saw them live kinda recent and met him lol.
@Bludhoundz8 Haha so true! John can either be really funny or really serious. He's like a comedian but with proper subjects to touch on. back vocal is beautiful
Look guys i don't know who's who but I am guessing that Jen is the ultra-fit singer. Funny thing is I still love this band.
I gotta admit I love this song cause of Jen's part. Its so pretty!
i cannot believe how innocent the girls look in this. korey seems so chill and jen just looks adorable at 1:42. i think i would die if i ever met themm
