    I have both the R 7 and the ZX4rr, both ECU flashed and full exhaust.
    The ZX4rr is at least 10 mph faster , and maybe more.
    I ran my r 7 in 70 deg air temp and the ZX4rr in 90 deg temp. Will run again when the weather cools down.

      Yea bro the zx4rr pulls seriously harder now that it’s unrestricted. I took it to the track a few weeks ago and could really tell the difference, and the ways it track and holds in corner man it destroys the r7. I still really like my r7 but this thing is on a whole mother level imo

      It’s all about rpms on the 4rr, at 10k (after restriction is removed) it really gets moving. As long as I drop two gears it’s got plenty of passing power. I needed to drop two on my zx6r to get good passing power too

    Love that you're talking about geometry and all those aspects that make a bike what it is! When most people on youtube can only talk hp, top speed and weight. The R7 and the small Ninjas are slept on by noob riders with too much ego.

    I owned a 2021 MT07. I traded it in on the ZX4RR. I guess people would say that I was nuts. I wanted an inline 4 before buying the MT07 but I didn't want a ZX6R and the ZX4RR wasn't out yet. I was always thinking how a Ninja 400 would feel like in the curves that I ride. I was reluctant to get the ZX4RR. I passed up on a couple of them until one day I just couldn't stand it any more. I wanted an inline 4 so bad I bought the third one I sat on. I am so glad I did. Love this bike.

    Thanks for your compassion on these two bikes. I was stuck between these two but ultimately chose the 4rr for the engine sound. Id still love to have an R7, the white with red wheels looks soo good. I literally just take it to work on nice days, so hardcore track features dont matter to me as much as someone who will track the bike. Also, power and top speed are also not my priority, otherwise id have a zx6r in my garage. Thanks again scout!

    You have some good points on the ZX4RR. The sound and the up and down quick shifter are the two biggest things for me. The biggest cons: the price and the lack of adjustable suspension. You can at least fit the R7 to your weight. The price is cheaper than the Kawasaki too with the suspension. Plus it has more HP and torque. Something you have to re-flash and get a full exhaust for ZX4RR to release its full potential. I have the Ninja 400 and for the price, I would take it all day over the ZX4RR. With the extra money, you could fully prep it out and make it just as fun. Yeah the down auto blip shifts would not happen but still...I think I would take the Aprillia RS 660 over both of them because of the complete package it is for just a couple grand more!
    Have I ridden an R7, RS660 or ZX4RR no so what the hell do I know, lol! Thats what we have you for!! Thanks for showing us!

    • @moton8tion866
      @moton8tion866 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      You bring up some good points. However, yes, the suspension is adjustable on the R7, the issue is that its bottom of the bin yamaha parts. No matter how much adjustment you did, it never responded. The r7 is not a bad bike, it just needs major improvement and leaves you wanting more. 😉 Yamaha could have done it better than they did.

    • @ScoutsOut
      @ScoutsOut  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Haha yea I love my 660 I just don't love its maintenance requirements. And man the n400 is still a really good bike I agree with you on that, I loved mine and tracked it soo good! But really it's the sound and qs that just make it so intoxicating to ride.

    • @EfferusZangetsu
      @EfferusZangetsu ปีที่แล้ว +4

      What, lack of adjustable suspension? It has adjustable suspension both in the rear and in the front. It has the same rear shock as the ZX10R. You got something mixed up.

    • @ScoutsOut
      @ScoutsOut  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The adjustment on the front fork is minimal, I had it at the track last weekend and had it adjusted throughout the day. Even the suspension guy said it only has one real adjustment for the forks and they basically suck. The rear shock however is nice

    This is the type of reviews we need more of. Yours is Fair and unbiased since you own both. I say anything bad about the R7 I get branded a hater, and I owned one. 😂. I agree with all you said. I did look into the wheelbase statement, the R1 is 55.3, the R7 is 54.9😮, the R6 54.1. Zx4rr 54.3. The zx should definitely turn in better. My r1 feels like a pig compared to my r6 which is why the r6 is more fun to ride. Yes the quickshifter is garbage on the R7, clutchless shifting was smoother. The torque down low on the r7 is great for city riding but was boring and you quickly run out of steam, I would take high reving over lower torque any day.
    My question for you, when is the r7 being sold? You sound giddy about the zx and you have the tuano..

    • @ScoutsOut
      @ScoutsOut  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ohh dang I didn't realize the r6 was the shortest, that explains a lot. The r6 was always the bike I wanted and it just never worked out over the years, so annoying they don't sell them anymore.
      As for selling the r7 I'm still not sold on getting ride of it. I have been riding the 4rr the most lately and had it down in the shop for installs for a week and a half. I rode the r7 for that time and I remembered how much I enjoy it so I'm really not sold on the 4rr being better yet

    It's more "playful" than the R7 because of it's 160 rear tire compared to R7's 180 for it's easier to dive into corners

      Yea that helps a lot too I forgot to through that in the vid

    • @raygoza91c
      @raygoza91c ปีที่แล้ว +7

      A lot of people feel this way but i disagree. A while back i went from an sv650 to an r6. The r6 is way more "playful" and it has a 190 rear tire. Theres a limit obviously. But going from 160 to 180 on the rear isnt going to ruin the "playfulness" of the experience.

    • @ScoutsOut
      @ScoutsOut  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@raygoza91c yea I hear ya the tires make less of a difference, it's the angles that make the most difference and the r6 stock has a 180 rear and believe it or not a shorter wheel base than the zx4rr. The r6 has always been the king of corners

    • @quanwick4516
      @quanwick4516 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @raygoza91c R6 was made to win countless professional races and can't be compared to an entry level SV650. If ScoutsOut upgrade to an 170 on his ZX4RR it'll affect a bit with his corners because of heavier wheel rotating mass.

      If you don't spend time on the highway as much, then the R7 or the ZX4RR is a great bike. If you spend more on highways, just opt for the ZX6R. But if you are a new rider and can't opt for the ZX6R (too big of a bike) then the ZX4RR is plenty to train you. Especially, after a ECU tune/flash, it is almost close to the ZX6R stock.

    Its not jut wheelbase that effects turn in, fork height does too, try raising the fork height on your r7 so they protrude above the top yoke and see how that feels, I've done that on many of my bikes to great success, I owned a cbr954 that handled ok stock, but I raised the forks by 10mm and put a 2mm washer between the top of the shock and the frame which raised the rear by about 9mm, and after that it handled amazingly, it basically felt like my old zxr400, just heavier, it felt a bit twitchy though, so I installed a steering damper.
    I also did something similar to my old rvf400, and tl1000s, which transformed how they handled too, the tl1000s was very sensitive to fork height for some reason, 10mm was way to much, it actually felt worse, 2mm was the sweet spot, it may require trial and error.

      rake trail tire size and profile and brand, many things affect handling. Where bike carries weight how high or low center of gravity is suspension settings, air pressures spring rates etc, it takes a guru and yrs of experience to tune suspension and stuff to make bikes handle good and depends big time on riders size weight and style of riding.

Once you start doing track days you will realize you can learn so much more on the n400 that a bigger bike. You will be amazed at how many people will be out there on the track with ninja 400s and they will be destroying even decent riders on bigger bikes. Just my 2 cents

      That's better but still outrageous for a tiny little 400cc bike. A Kawasaki Z900 is 52.00 per month. A Honda CB1000R was 56.00 per month. Doesn't make any sense. A bike is only worth so much, and worth far less than cars or trucks. Motorcycle insurance should literally be almost zero.

As for the sound and feel it’s really hard to compare a twin to an inline 4. The sound of the 660 is really good and exhilarating but you cannot beat that inline 4 sound. The main issue with the 4rr is the heavy decrease in power when stock is painful. R7 and zx4rr weigh literally the same. While the zx4rr has more hp (unrestricted), the r7 does have more torque. However, zx4rr has better electronics, suspension, ergos, sound. They're not even in the same category, the R7 is more like a grown up R3, a sport bike. The zx4rr is like a smaller zx6r, a supersport. You said "much less power" without providing any numbers when the zx4rr actually has more hp, so better top end. I don't know if you're ignorant by choice or by choice cuz a simple google search would give you your answer.
