Quick update to this. You can continue to spam water sword (or any other active skill) after the eye becomes exposed giving you roughly 15 seconds of uninterrupted attacking. Combine this with Battle Focus from the axe tree to further reduce the stamina cost. This allows you to easily max familiarly on all pieces equipped in roughly 2-3 minutes.

In stead of pressing triangle when hes down, just keep attacking his "eye" normally untill he reverts to normal. That way you can do all gloves in 1 sitting.
A lot of folks are asking "What about glue?" Glue is great but only works on armor you have equipped. For a typical build you're gonna need to max out at least 9 pairs of gloves (4 with attack, 5 with a skill boost of choice) that alone will burn through 63 glue. Now you can spend your glory on mats to craft it, but even then 63 glue is NOT cheap. In fact, it costs 5,800 glory to craft a single glue buying mats from the Tea House. That's 40,6000 glory to get ONE pair of gloves up to max familiarity or a whopping 365,400 to max out the 9 pairs you need for your new set. If y'all think you can just buy glue for everything, you're out of your mind.
@@theoldblood3804 min/maxing is a late game thing where you try to reach the ceiling with your stats. Minimizing what you dont need, and maxing what you do. Its not necessary to do, but if you want to reach the limits of how strong a build can get, that's what you do. Hopefully that was helpful.
@@TheSamuraiMind are you doing the NG+ mission? I did the regular one and it didnt give nearly as much as the one on NG+. It gave me around 400-500 familiarity per run. I havent done it in a couple days, but I've got 2 gloves with +20 attack on them that I need to max out familiarity with, so if I found out it has been significantly reduced I'll let ya know.
best wep prof is running the Omnyo Magic dojo mission repeatedly but let yourself die to the last boss so you can keep repeating it without loading. That dojo missions provides you with ALL WOODEN weapons which have like +80% profic gain stat on them
There's a mega easy guaranteed drop for farming Glue if you have the DLC. Start the mission Suzune in the Flames and run to the fire blocking your path right by the very first shrine where you start the mission. There is a body you can pick up Glue from laying in the fire.. Grab the Glue, Branch out, repeat. Takes about 10 seconds and you get a guaranteed Glue drop every time.

Just wanted to thank you for this guide, maxed familiarity for tons of gloves. Just wanted to mention that you can let the bossifght go on pretty much eternally, you just have to ignore the weak spot. After a few seconds he will go back to attacking you but leaves enough time to change equipment and rebuff.
This worked great! Not to mention, you do not have to grapple the boss during his down time and can continue spamming active skills. This not only worked for familiarity, but also weapon proficiency. I got 15 maxed out gloves in just an hour.

You can actually save more time other than traveling back to shrine by destroying just one of his eyes then let the other one be how it is and keep farming off his hands and not destroyed eye. You also gain familiarity by attacking his eye other than doing the final blow, won't get much but it's still about 50-100 points of familiarity depending on how fast you attack it. Hope this helps everyone watching this video. You can shrine once you're out of Elixirs/Onmyo Spells/Ninjutsu Spells. Was able to get all 10 (5 white inheritable iai quickdraw and 5 orange attack inheritable) glove familiarity in about 3-4 runs.
Awesome video as always! However, I've noticed you mention inheritable quite often but have yet to do a guide video. For some it is easy, yes but I've encountered many people who are just as lost as I when trying to move the trait over. With your knowledge and approach, I think you can make a hell of a video

Hoping someone can answer my question. I'm trying to max out a weapon to get its inheritance slot, but after some time it the familiarity stopped at 990/999 and won't max out. I tried using the weapon as primary, and putting it in a 2nd slot. It just won't max out :(
The WHETSTONE item ( weapons) which will give you 150 familiarity for one and I think if you use 7 it will max it. There is also GLUE, it does the same thing for amours but I don’t have it yet because I don't have any green armour yet 😞. You collect it Randomly while you playing or you can forge them. This method is a lot faster than fighting.
There's a Yokai in here that I remember from the demo and I think it was in the early release as well, but I have yet to see it in my new game. I'm doing a new play through now that the remasters dropped, I'm in the 4th or 5th area now I think and I have yet to see it, not sure what it's called, but I remember it having a somewhat human shape, with two swords I think. Did they remove some Yokai from the game?
Just started Nioh 2 and beat Nioh about 1 or 2 years ago or so and I still don’t understand all of the mechanics in these games with crafting, it’s all the really small fine details I’m missing, I get generally what I want for stats on my weapons and armor just not stuff like this basically familiarity bonus percentage, as long as I have the bonus I’ve been good before lol

I have a quick question. What do the +1 (2, 3, etc) do for armor pieces? Other than you can choose to have it remodeled for a paltry extra defense, is there something else I'm not seeing?
Just adds more defense. You can use the armor pieces you don’t want that have +1, +2 etc to get your equipped piece through soul matching to 1, 2, 3, and eventually 4. Obsidian Samurai drops a lot of the + armor on his divine gear you can use if you need some.
@@Loremaster85 thank you, so nothing hidden then, and the defense goes up but a few numbers. Maybe because I'm running light armor, but at over 200 defense it barely goes up 3 extra defense points.

FightinCowboy I’m trying to pick between two clans that offers luck! Gamo clan offers +30 luck and the Hosokawa clan offers a 25% increase luck (enemy killed)!
If you've a shit load of glory you can just use this to buy mats to forge glue also. I've about 100k glory so no big deal. Whatever works out faster. 👍
It cost WAY to much glory to make them. Doing this method, I've max familiarity more than 20 piece's of armor & like 5 weapons in less than 1 hour with the reaper attack of the kusarigama cause in my current build, I dont use dual sword.

That boss is also great for maxing weapon proficiency for the dojo missions.

The Magatama mission for the blacksmith is much easier and quicker. The very first dead body has a whetstone every time.

Soul match a +3 with a +3 and you get a +4. Then do a 4 + 4 and get a +5. And so on up to +10 to max out your favorite sets. Same goes for weapons.

Min maxing refers to the process of tweaking every stat, every miniscule thing on your character, for the maximum amount of efficiency.

Yes this same thing works for proficiency. There is also +proficiency on accessories, if you want to optimize it a bit for that.
The wooden version of each weapon gives a big proficiency bonus also

When it comes to picking a state is 25% luck better or +25 of luck?
There is no 25% luck.

Then look at your current luck, is a 25% increase more than 30.

I had a ton as well but you'll burn through it real fast making glue mats. I made 30 glues and it ran something like 70K
