    Nike’s AG stud pattern is amazing. I’ve worn turf on AG and it’s fine, I’ve worn FG on AG and injured my knee. I wear the hypervenom phantom 3 ag-pro and the traction genuinely improves my performance a bit, i can make cuts quicker but much safer than FG on AG.

  • @chuckmiester10
    @chuckmiester10 5 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    Used the AG pro Venom’s on very firm grass yesterday. The traction was good, didn’t feel any slippage at all. Would recommend this stud patter for both playing surfaces. If only they made boots that prevented hamstring strains 😅😪

    Another good talking point for your videos in regards to ag/fg stud patterns is how they feel when cutting, turning and traction on feet. This is also my favorite video you’ve made. Very informative

    • @Soccerreviewsforyou
      @Soccerreviewsforyou  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's just it. AG as a surface is so abrasive, pretty much anything with studs will provide excellent traction. You just don't want too much traction.

    Love your reviews, keep them up! So I noticed that Nike doesn’t sell any of their high end AG shoes in the US. I’ve looked for the last 2 years and only been able to find a pair randomly on Amazon that happened to be my size. Before that I happened to be in London and was able to buy them at a Nike store. On the Nike site you can order Nike ID with AG but that’s not ideal if you want a certain pack color way. Anyhow, it would be really interesting if you could ask Nike and I’m hoping they’d get back to since you’re a reviewer. The weird thing is it seems like the US has a lot of AG fields (at least here in California) so it would seem the demand is there.

  • @SF-sh3ed
    @SF-sh3ed 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I was wearing puma future 2.1 last year on AG surface because they are technically rated as FG/AG boots. But I got my ankle injured precisely because the studs were too aggressive. Fortunately the injury was not too serious, so I could come back to play in four weeks. But after that injury, I decided to buy new boots that are not too aggressive in terms of traction. NIKE (even in the US) offers AG versions of some of elite models (I only buy top of the line models) but you have to custom-order them. The downside is that you have to pay full price plus additional 10$ at Nike’s website and obviously you cannot return them. In the end, I decided to buy Mizuno Morelia Neo 2 MIJ because Mizuno says they can be used on AG surface and the boots have mostly conical studs that did not look too long and pointy as puma future’s studs. Since I started wearing Mizuno, I have not had any problems with playing on AG surface. Traction is good enough and not clingy. Josh, what do you think about using Morelia Neo 2 on AG surface? And could you compare these models in details (like how long and pointy these studs are)? I think a lot of people these days play mostly on AG surface so I think you should spend more time with this particular topic. I would like to see more detailed comparisons between different models (like puma future vs. Mizuno vs. Nike AG elite for example) and recommendations. Thanks!!!

    • @Soccerreviewsforyou
      @Soccerreviewsforyou  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Anything with all conical studs typically will be fine on AG in regards to not being clingy. Long term durability of boots that are not made for use on artificial grass would be a concern though.

    • @SF-sh3ed
      @SF-sh3ed 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your reply, josh. I’m not concerned about durability to be honest. If boots break, then i can say to my wife that I have to buy new boots. Otherwise she will say why I need another pair of boots.

    Josh,
    Really liking this as my next boot. I play on AG 2 times per week, with one Sunday game on grass. However, the ground is so hard that it probably falls under hard ground instead of firm ground. How do you think this stud pattern will perform in this type of ground?

    • @Soccerreviewsforyou
      @Soccerreviewsforyou  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      They should be OK, however if the ground is legitimately that hard, maybe wear some turf shoes.

      It's not a matter of feeling pain over time, it's one moment where you could suffer an injury. Like I said in the video, plenty of people wear FG boots on artificial grass and never get injured, but I stand by saying that those people are putting themselves at a higher risk of injury.

    The AG boots don’t prevent injuries

    • @Soccerreviewsforyou

      Absolutely you can still get injured while wearing AG boots on artificial grass. The risk of injury caused by the stud pattern goes down greatly when compared to an FG boot though. Artificial grass as a whole is a more dangerous playing surface compared to natural grass.

    So wait, what’s the difference between an AG and Turf surface? Is it the black bits and grass length?

    • @Soccerreviewsforyou
      @Soccerreviewsforyou  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Turf is more so like a rough carpet material, typically without rubber pellets. It's a more shallow playing surface in comparison to artificial grass.

    • @Soccerreviewsforyou

      Your position and playing style has nothing to do with what boots you should wear. It all depends on what type of fit and feel that you're looking for.

      Evan Riekman of course you can,you won’t be as safe as you would wearing AG though.. Son tore his ACL last season wearing FG on a turf field last year though so myself as a parent have bought him AG so it hopefully won’t happen again

    I don't like this ag pattern. I liked having more studs in the middle of the forefoot like adidas. And some older ag patterns like the phinnish.

      Puma makes the Future and One in FG/AG. I have a pair of a Future 2.1, it's really nice. A lot of the 18.1s and 1.1s are going for relatively cheap right now.

      Lemme get uhhh Uhh bro I had the same problem as you, it sucks that Nike doesn’t make mercurials or any of their new lines in size 14. Ik puma makes their future boots in a size 14 and I’ve heard great things about them. U can even take a shot and go for a x 18.1 in a size 13.5 and see if that works. I wear a size 14 but the size 13.5 in the X fits like a glove on my foot and it’s personally one of my favorite boots I’ve ever worn.

    • @Soccerreviewsforyou
      @Soccerreviewsforyou  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Contact the store you're looking to purchase from and let them know what size you need and what boots you're interested in. They do make a size 14 in quite a few different models, but most stores don't carry them in stock. They could let you know what's available and order them for you.
