Thanks for a fresh look at an old Classic. As an native Irishman living in exile in the great state of Maine I have come to love the beauty of Rangely Streamer flies. I fish Upper Dam, where this fly and many other Carrie Stevens flies originated , frequently. My favorite Carrie Stevens pattern is a Colonel Bates, a beautiful and extremely productive fly. You more than did justice to Carrie, she would be proud. Terry
Probably one of the best ties of this pattern that I have seen. I bought some size 1, 10xl hooks a while back and have tied several silver darters. GG is next. Thnx.
so funny u mentioned spring buck..i havnt heard of anyone use that before other than myself i thought..friend of mine shot a few of them over the last few years on an south african bowhunt..he gave me 2 full skins and i had all the white hair dyed to al the colors used in many streamer patterns..its wonderful stuff and like u said the straightest natural white hair out there that has long length..makes beautiful looking flies that call for bucktail with more natural movement than bucktail also and more durable..
Hey Ryan, Fantastic !! Thanks for the beautiful tie of Carrie Stevens fly. She is my hero. She tied in Rangely lakes region of Maine. I live in Bangor Maine. Rangley is on the western edge of Maine, I live more towards the coast. I do tie many of her patterns. I tie my feathers individually too, but I must say they usually don't come out a beautifully as yours did. I have 8xl Carrie Steven's hooks, the one in the video looked much longer. What size was it? All the best, Sean
i always used to use danvilles or UTC but ive had some real bad spools lately that snap every 6 inches i find textreme to be good these days as is veevus
