Just finished working on a neighbors car and followed this video. Thank you for posting it, 100 percent recommended. Only change I would do is take out the two smaller bolts that hold the differential in place instead of the super long bolts.
I just did this job for the first time today and this method is absolutely the way to go. I had trouble lining up the rear stud of the replacement diff while also getting the axles in. I ended up using the double nut method to remove the stud and then everything goes back together like butter. All in all the job took a little under 3hrs start to finish, granted I had a lift and a whole shop of tools at my disposal.
Wow! Great time and work saver! Pulled the dif with very little effort. Did it in a gravel driveway with the help of my son. An extra hand is a real time/effort saver on the ground. We pulled the difff, found the prob, fragged pinion gear. Pulled off the ring gear and reinstalled the dif. No lights only a slight vibration hen accelerating from a stop. Probably from not reinstalling the drive shaft. Balance issues ? Rear subframe and control arms so rusted not worth putting a new dif in. Got a newish driveshaft for sale. You are great!
Very helpful, but I did have to pull bottom shock bolt and lower control arm bolt from the knuckle to get enough clearance to pop axle out. only had to do one side, after that the other axle came out. 2017 rogue. but all the same set up.
Second time coming down on the same car, because the used replacement was full of water 😒 (thank you Knox) so thank you for this! I pulled EVERYTHING the first time and it was still a bitch
how do you get the axles out? I get it out far enough to see literally like an inch or inch and a half of the splines going into the differential but it just will not pop out. Is there something I'm missing? I've tried prying like absolutely crazy
Reused we only replaced the differential my guess dropping diff still might be easiest option for you if the rest of that side control arms are rusted out heavily
I have a 2008 4 wheel drive Rogue with a broken rear end. Can I just take out the drive shaft, differential, and rear axels to make it a 2 wheel front drive SUV?
Did you take it out? We've been debating on it but I read that if it's making a noise it's still going to & a few other negatives. I will never ever own ANYTHING w a CVT transmission again. Problem after problem with this damn thing. I'd honestly junk it but it's in my husband's name lol
If u remove the axles the wheel bearings won’t have any support and will fail immediately unless u separate the axle shaft from the outer flange and leave just the flange in the bearing bolted in that’s the only way it would work. And invisibly remove the differential or even cut the axles in the back might be much easier and definitely disconnect rear driveshaft and remove
@@peteryao2008 yeah I did it and it was easy af. Really helps if u have a second person positioning and maneuvering the diff with a jack when Ure taking it down and putting the new one in, It’s pretty heavy. Worst part for me was lowering the exhaust from the middle and rear mounts.
Thanks I'm the process now on a 2017. The drain plug has metal shavings melted around the magnet so I think the rear differential is the problem and the fluid smells really burnt. Will follow up later.
I think it might have been my differential whole time I thought it was the fucking transmission cuz you know the transmissions on these bastards are garbage thanks for the awesome video Time Saver 2
what symptoms were u having? I got a Nissan Rogue 2015 Select and i suspect the rear diff was damaged when the vehicle was towed improperly without a dolly which should be used for AWD cars.
@@Pingaheimer when I put the spare tire on it started smelling like burnt rubber go on clickety clack I hope I make it back and it was the rear differential I just haven't had a chance to get a new one and install it yet the gears on the rear diff were shredded into tiny metallic pieces. It almost made the same sound as a bad CV joint

Can you elaborate?
Did this in 1 hour because of this video, thank you. Truly appreciate it.

This worked for me, and I did it on the ground. Just jack up rear end very high. Thanks for making this video
My car won’t move . It got stuck when the differential broke. . Could I still change it ? Ground isn’t level

You are great!
You are an angel in disguise for this video. I did my stepmotheris this differential on the ground thanks to you
Helped me out a lot. I’m a Honda tech and I was lucky enough to get his job
Thank you so much 😉👍5 hour job cut down to 1.5 hr. And I didn't even remove front bracket
Great job!
Thank you for the info. Knowledge is power.
Very helpful, 2010 Nissan X-Trail NT31 has same rear setup, my differential is shot so will follow this for removal and installation.

Just about to tackle one. Mitchell On Demand states the same just like Alldata. Was looking for an easier way. Gonna try it. Thanks.🤜🏻
how'd u get it done in the end? Any tips for someone about to tackle this job?
Thanks for the help bro didn’t have any idea how to do it I was going to remove everything but with u knowledge less work thanks
Thanks, I'm about to try your way today.. dreading trying to get the axles back in like that but we'll see!
worked out? Any tips?
@@Pingaheimer I don't remember exactly but I do remember it was a surprisingly easy job.
@@cody2097 But u did it the way it's described in this video, you didn't have to remove the tires and all that?
@@Pingaheimer correct
Really that helped me much ,I would like to thank you man

I have to replace the right half-shaft. Did you reuse those? Was it hard to get them back on n?

You're going to have a check engine light so if you have Auto start it won't work and you probably won't have cruise if you are able to do that.

I took out my driveshaft - well if fell out. Im toying with the idea of cutting the axle off behind the boot @@CODxFUNxMAN
Nice video.. very helpful
can i do it this way without a lift using just a floor jack and some jack stands?
Yes I did it with jack and stands. But putting the axels back is still a struggle. :)

Does a 2008 rear differential assembly work on a 2011
Hi im a big fan!

@@muhamadjallow3490 very well put half shafts in the rear end first then install the rear end

Hey I’m doing a 15 USA rogue tomorrow, any differences I should look out for since this video has the previous generation rogue rear diff

Lifetime fluid till it turns to grease
Thankyou is this the same as a murano?
I believe murano is different sorry for delay didn’t have notifications turned on.
115 thousand is exactly when my 2018 awd differential failed. Sounded like a tire slapping or flat tire
Does it make noise when driving straight or just on slow sharp turns?
When driving straight. Broke a few teeth from the sprocket inside, so you could definitely hear it even at low speeds.
Help me out 👍🏾
