Definitely worth the extra 10 bucks on a B3 2500. That being said, I'm not sure it is any better than a Daiwa BG 2500, unless it shows up in longevity. I do own and use both inshore. Both hard to beat for the price point.
What’s the difference between these reels and the Penn battle 3 LE reel on the white rod, bought the battle 3 LE combo but I’m not sure what LE means no matter where I look can’t get any info on it
Look at the schematics on the penn bat3 2500/3000 and the 2500dx they have the same main gear part number. Looks like they may have cut corners with the 2500dx. The part numbers change at 3000dx. Can you confirm this? I was going to get the 2500dx until i discovered this.
The Battle III DX has a coated brass main gear, while the Battle IV DX has brass main and pinion gears. Brass is harder than aluminum, so it wears better over time and is better for anglers who frequently reel in fish while winching in deep water
Hi, I have a penn battle 3 HS 6000 Everything okay but my worry is, its cross wind gear and cross wind block. Please tell me what is the metel used over there? also let me know any penn version wich has the same cross wind and block in brass or stainless steel wich can be replaced in battle 3 HS 6000

Hate to burst your bubble but speaking as a person very familiar with metal types.....not only are there many grades of stainless steel, but there is a reason you don't find boat winches and such made of stainless steels. The reason being that many types of brass hold up better in salt water environments than most stainless steels....just being " stainless" does not make it better if it is a lesser grade of stainless steel. Many boats use brass, copper/nickle alloys and specifically stay away from stainless steels because they will still rust as they are still carbon steel with different amounts of chromium in them....just look at any boat with stainless fittings and you will see the possible long term effects of saltwater on them. Just room for thought.
Get any of the reels in the video: bit.ly/3UcNxtL
Thanks for the indepth video on these 2(4) reels. I was just looking at the DX models at the store today. Now this explains them. Thanks again
Glad we could help!
I own a Penn Battle 3 DX 3000 for back bay Striped Bass and Summer Flounder. Such a great reel and a solid value.
Absolutely!
Funny, won't find on eBay. That changed fast. I just bought a Battle III 6000 DX on AliExpress for $119 out the door :)
They're tough to get hands on right now!
I've been thinking about getting one of those Slammer IV Reels and seeing this helped. It'll probably be the DX model if I can find one.
Awesome! If you have any specific questions, feel free to comment on the full blog here bit.ly/3UcNxtL and Justin can respond directly!
Great review of those two reels there. 👍
Thanks 👍

Thanks for they reply!
Can you guys do a video on the sargassum bloom, and how it will impact fishing in the gulf and Atlantic?
Thanks for the suggestion! We can send the request to the team to see if that's something they can add to the list!
Are the spools interchangeable between the battle dx and non dx model? Cheers
Great review!
Thanks!

I take it you didn't hear my remark about Brass being more Corrosion Resistant than Stainless...
No ...must have missed it.....
Thanks for the insight!
No worries, friend. In this case its more about hardness and in that case there is no comparison.
Steel on steel is a bad combination for worm gearing. It will get much hotter than steel on brass would. This is a mistake.
