I'm similar -- I go looking for some special singles, but the grab bags, packets, mixes and stock books always find their way home with me. :) Good point on how filling in the gaps with your regular issue collections aren't really something you'd buy individually.

Very nice finds and share a similar approach; also appreciate your love of small definitive stamps - a lot of people don't like them but I love to see a bunch of different colors/same design on the page. I love pick books and bins - then I can pick up lovely common stamps that are hard to find if not particularly valuable.

I loved the Phishbowl, and really like your way of collecting stamps. It is truly like collecting, discovering stamps while collecting them in lots, not necessarily just buying single targeted stamps, although the latter also has its place. Thanks for the interesting video. That stockbook was a nice find ~ while I generally don't collect CTO's the book itself is worth what you paid for it. Several years ago, I was able to spend a few hours at Great America Stamp Show when it was in Sacramento - it was my first stamp show and I loved it ! Were there many exhibits at the show you attended?
Actually, there were a few exhibits, but it looked like they were bulked up by some institutional exhibitors--still fewer than I remember from past years. I don't know why, but very few exhibits catch my interest. I'm a little bugged at myself for that, since an exhibit is an IRL TH-cam video--I should love them.
