Absolutly solved my problem! I cut open a coke can and folded a little piece in half to double it up. Placed it between the clip and spring inside the toggle switch. Thank you!!!!

Where exactly did you place the folded piece you made? Wondering if I need to do the same thing. Fixed mine as well but I noticed it's having some issues with consistently staying on with the switch in the middle position.

Thank you for posting this. This also saved me $300 for the assembly. My Kia is a 2014 Optima Hybrid with a sunroof but had the same switch inside. The switch melted in a bow shape and rounded drooped the edges. I cut the top with a knife to square the top then I filed out the inside to square it also. Test fit the metal piece with the ball and spring and it was working again. Very helpful video.

Thanks for the video! This helped a lot. Couldn't get my dome lights to come on. Took my map console apart and there was a nicely melted switch. A lot of fiddlin, a bit of dremeling and some dielectric fixed the problem and I have it back together. Seems to work good. Looked into buying a replacement switch but I think they want you to buy the entire console.

It did it again switch melting all over the place. If had 3d printer would just make a new one.

Thanks! Worked. Had to use a dremel to clean out the melted plastic for the metal piece to slide better.

Worked great. Saved 300 that the dealer wanted.

I had the same issue and this video helped. Can you show how you got that plastic and brass assembly out because I couldn’t get it to budge. I used a small screwdriver and some dielectric grease to get the brass moving again and reassembled. Works great now. If it fails again I may just have to buy a new assembly ($70). Thanks again for your help!

How did you separate the black housing from the dome light assembly? The assembly seems locked together by the finger pull for the sunroof switch, so did you have a way to remove the finger pull from the sunroof switch?
