  • Nazjatar is the subaqueous capital city of the naga race, ruled by Queen Azshara, the former ruler of the Kaldorei Empire. It forms the core of the empire of the same name.
Nazjatar is a new zone coming in patch 8.2.0. It is located inside a massive crevasse in the middle of the Great Sea, created by Azshara's power. The entire zone is below water level and is entirely surrounded by waterfalls. This large open-world zone will culminate in us confronting Queen Azshara.
While the Alliance struck a decisive blow to the Horde in the Battle of Dazar'alor, it was not without some casualties. With both sides reeling from the events and healing their wounds, the naga made their move and begin striking against the two. Taking any remaining ships, the Horde and the Alliance set sail and arrive in the ancient land of Nazjatar: the land of the naga and the location of Azshara's seat of power, her Eternal Palace, where they will face Queen Azshara herself.
Much of Nazjatar was once a Kaldorei city (presumably Zin-Azshari), and the ruins and architecture remain. However, the naga has added a good amount of their own art to this place, dredging building material from coral and rock and the fallen ruins of their former civilization. The buildings' foundations merge with the walls of the Rift, though the structures themselves are oriented vertically, as normal (not horizontally; their foundations are on their walls). The place has a dark and sinister atmosphere, and naga swims among the buildings, conducting their nefarious plans. The buildings' colors are muted, usually tan or gray, and bear carvings of waves, seahorses, fish, and more disturbing motifs: powerful naga warriors and mages, battling the makrura, enslaving the mur'gul, and returning to the surface to exact revenge on their ancient kin.
Queen Azshara, grown massive in size and in power, dwells in the Eternal Palace in Nazjatar's center; this structure was her palace in the Kaldorei civilization 10,000 years ago as well.

With the upcoming release of the 8.2 BfA Rise of Azshara I thought it is a good idea to show you around Nazjatar. The zone is stunning and some of the music just breathtaking (Glenn Stafford did it again! See 53:26 ) but I fail to see how this patch will save Battle for Azeroth since the casual gameplay is somehow the same.
Anyway, looking forward to see what you think. Please, do not hate because it's not WoW Classic! Just apreciate the artistic team, as they deserve all our gratitude.
All music names are generic (created by me, they are not yet datamined). Open Subtitles / CC to see them.

I honestly love BfA so far, ye it has a fair share of problems, but it's still a pretty good expansion.
8.2 is awesome, finally it feels like there is actually fun stuff to do.
Mechagon is awesome, especially with WM turned on.
Couldn't do quests for the first few days 'cause i was always engaged in world pvp.
Nazjatar is breath taking music & art wise. The quests are okay but overall a 7/10.
Don't know why people would judge 8.2 by the first week so negatively, when neither raid, the new dungeon or the new pvp season is available yet.
I also don't get the "casual gameplay" part.
World of Warcraft's whole deisgns philosophie was to be casual. :D WoW was fucking casual since vanilla. I'd argue that BfA 8.2 is way harder than vanilla was in any stage.
Sure if you only scrap the surface and just do dailies and maybe a dungeon or two, then yeah it's probably easier than classic. But most people don't even get to mythic raid, run high m+ or do high rated pvp which is all way more complex than anything in classic.

Whenever sad music is playing, now in Zin-Azshari or in other older zones, there is a double sadness. The sadness of the lore itself and of the good old times where the game had an untouchable value.

it's pretty hard to get wrong. just gotta hire someone who makes consistently good stuff. no risking it by hiring someone who makes generic stuff if they cant find inspiration or saving money by getting a newbie and hoping they aim to prove successfully. getting someone who makes AMAZING stuff is a risk since they tend to be eccentrics who might sabotage their own work if working conditions are bad or dawdle till the work is perfect, making it incomplete at deadline (eccentric eg: Mick Gordon, wasnt given enough time and he was angry cos he didnt get to perfect Doom)

I was a medical resident working the COVID ICUs in 2020. They had us on a week on week off schedule as a form of quarantine / watching for symptoms on our weeks off. I hadn't played WoW since 2007 at this point, but since I had those weeks off I picked up the game again. I remember playing a lot here to upgrade a spell for my warrior (can't remember the details). WoW was such a beautiful and needed respite from work, it helped keep me in decent spirits despite everything.

53:30 is easily my favorite part to hear in the game...yet also the most haunting. You have to imagine what a city like Zin-Azshari would have been like in its time--this was literally a global empire founded on the practice of Arcane magic.
Now all that remains are these ruins, along with Suramar and the Nightborne.

The part at 53:26 is the best part. I LOVE when the music matches the theme of the zone like this. The use of choir as well as strings makes for music that makes you feel the pain & sorrow of the once great city. It's up there with Invincible, why we fight and lament of the highborne. Honestly i could live with the bgm for the zone being just that choir & symphony accompaniment.

It’s amazing. But imo invincible is in a league of its own.
Arthas had way more backstory than Azshara and the naga.
Not to mention we played as Arthas in Warcraft 3 and some wrath quests. We lived through arthas’ life.
And invincible is that much more powerful

Azshara was so egotistical and narcissistic that she assumes her people are beneath her and demands she be worshiped like a goddess.

I've recently come back to the game, and this zone was MUCH more than I expected -- in variety, layout, and lore, all exceeded expectations.
Although, I have to say, for something that was purportedly underwater, the presence of roads and architecture (non-ancient-ruin) on the ground is a little conspicuous...maybe the naga never bothered updating their civil planning methods from their days as elves?

  • @Assabinnas

Azshara lured us to Nazjatar and deep into her palace because that was the will of her master N'Zoth. As our Heart Of Azeroth necklace was the key to freeing N'Zoth from the titan's prison deep in Azshara's palace she parted the ocean and taunted us to pursue her. Azshara had a secret plan to overpower her master, but N'Zoth preempted this. By sending Unat to test us, he ensured that we were strong enough to subdue Azshara.
This was one of the coolest zones of all time in WoW. It gets a bad rap because of BfA's shortcoming's in gameplay and gearing, particularly the manapearl grind for an OP belt. But the environment here was breathtaking.

55:54 and 58:58, these parts are so oddly reminiscent of a part in Rimsky Koraskov's composition Sheherazade, it's a long one I am not sure where but I've listened to it hundreds of times and I'm sure it's very similar. Can anyone smarter than me confirm it, I adore this part I've been replaying it all night while studying ^^

I might be one of the rare people who doesnt like the Glenn Stafford`s tune. I am obsessed by the dark sounding stuff like the stuff that starts at 21:48 - Echos of Nazjatar 2

while bfa had its bad/useless moments with warfronts and island expeditions. i found it more appealing overall than legion. legion had great theme, but it got bad in the end, especially argus. really forgettable place after all years we waited. bfa however i found got better WITH TIME. i cant talk about how it was upon release but i started play wow again in 8.2 and with the base game being good, nazjatar and mechagon were the best content iv experienced in wow since mop days. no wonder many ppl say its the best content patch since 2.4. the story was also intresting cus the sword and azarite made it for a interesting development between horde vs alliance. and we just got that with sylvanas doin actions we clearly didnt understand at that point, but it got our attention. and i was eager to find out what it would lead to. the sad part is that it lead into shadowlands. while SL looked pormising, it failed to deliver what bfa built up so great. and fail is maybe too nice word to describe it. BFA was a great "build up expansion" and it gave us great cinematics to tell the story more. I was always eager to know what would happen next in wows story with this expansion.
and remember all the memorable characters we got to meet/learn more from during this expansion, magni, jaina, derek, ashvane, azhara, rastakhan, talanji, bwonsamdi and ofc the best character pf them all: Saurfang.
yes yes u can ofc complain about the azerite armor/necklace and all that but as a casual player just doing nazjatar, mechagon, daylies and world quests, it never really affected me about the perks and mid maxing.
i wonder how a wow expansion teirlist would look today with bfa in retrospect?

I've not played Warcraft in a long time and from what I saw, this place was somewhat underwhelming when you consider the scope of Queen Azshara and the Naga's power and influence in the Warcraft universe from Warcraft III all the way through till now.
However! The music for this zone did not disappoint even a little. This was everything I had hoped to hear from Azshara and Nazjatar.

    • @Scruffed
      @Scruffed ปีที่แล้ว

Azshara was probably one of the hardest end-of-raid bosses they ever made (second only to Kil'Jaeden perhaps), Eternal Palace was the hardest raid in BfA overall, and Nazjatar as a zone was enormous and with some of the best art and music they ever made in WoW, so I wouldn't really call it underwhelming.
