I've seen a few '57 Chevy El Camino custom builds, but when I caught a glimpse of Brett Williamson pulling into Byron Dragway I just had to see what the story was as I've never seen one done quite like it! In the bonus clip is Larry's '57 Chevy Bel Air Drag car. Having raced it and other cars for years, these days his 23 old son Brett pilots it. Brett who started racing at 7 years old in the Jr. dragster program progressed quickly. At 16 he took over the racing of the '57 and has made quite a name for himself winning events and competing in a lot of bracket races all over the midwest and consistently bringing home the big paychecks. Brett is also a go to driver for those needing someone with the reflexes of a cat and experience to pilot their car down the 1/4 mile. Brett has personally raced 16 different cars!
The black '57 car has a 496ci big block chevy with Crower mechanical stack injection on alcohol. The engine has Crower lifters, Jesel shaft rockers, Brodix BB2+ aluminum heads custom ported, and an all Manley rotating assembly. Best times to date are a 5.94 at 117mph in the 1/8th and a 8.98 at 148mph in the 1/4.#57elcamino #belair#trifive

Yeah it's a love it or hate it thing but I personally think its cool! It's totally different than most conversions you see and a lot of work and thought went into it not to mention the skills to do it.
