It's BADASS!! From the original body, paint, interior, the faded lettering, old decals, white headers and gold Moroso valve covers..definitely a time capsule!!
Mild 406 my ass! Do the math, the car weighs 3-k,,, the motor must pull at LEAST 550 h.p. to propel the 55' 1320 feet in 10:88 @ 120 m.p.h. I love the car, very sanitary under hood, and wheels up hole shot,,, doesn't get any better,,, O' and no l.s. Bull shit! Ol' school. The way it was intended back in the good Old days!👌👍🇺🇸 apple pie, and Chevrolet!!
There's contact info for the owner in the description you can take it up with him. Like the 301 I'm thinking that's a 100 over 283 ? I had a 55 back in the day 350 inches and 390 pos track with 4 spd sure miss that ole hot rod. Thanks for sharing!!
@@powerfulpiney2391 thanks for sharing your knowledge! Stroking the engine go way back! I knew a 060 283 made a 292 ci ! They had a 292 6 cylinder and my old machine shop ran one in a dirt car and he was very competitive with it! I love ole cars and motors!!
Sleeper, with 3 year record holder painted on the roof above the door. Bwaahahaha. Someone needs to show you a sleeper so that you don't make a fool of yourself again.
@@speedymike8821 Not my opinion, fact! A sleeper is a car that doesn't look quick or fast and maybe even has quiet mufflers on it an it surprises you with how quick or fast it is. Not a car that is lettered up like a race car and has painted in 4 inch letters AHRA national record holder 67, 68. 69 above the door. Go back to sleep.
Love 5-5 Chevys. This one really boogies ! Had a 5-5 back in the late 60's. Last motor was a built 331ci Corvette motor (500+hp), Pontiac Muncie 4 speed and a 4.88 posi rear (4.11 street). Best time 11.96 at 114+ mph. Sold it in '70, BIG MISTAKE !!
@@WyoCutlass71 Way back in the late 60's, I was informed by the place that did a review and performance modification of my transmission that the Pontiac Muncie 4 speed trans had a bigger input shaft than the Chevy and was therefore stronger when subject to a harsher treatment. Don't know how true that is. I can tell you that I put that transmission through some pretty harsh treatment at times and never had a trans failure. As far as I know the 4 speed bell housings are the same (Pontiac and Chevy).
@@paulacri604 interesting! I have never heard that! I can tell you the bell housings are definitely different. Chevy had their own but Pontiac, Oldsmobile and Buick shared a different style. The holes are in different locations
@@WyoCutlass71 I beg to differ. A Pontiac manual transmission will bolt up to a Chevy passenger car bell housing ! I can tell you that I had no problem bolting up a Pontiac GTO 4 speed transmission to a Chevy passenger car bell housing, my 55, with a 66 Corvette motor !
@@paulacri604 www.teambuick.com/reference/ident_automatic.php Not true my friend. Trust me, I’m building a ‘71 Oldsmobile with Oldsmobile parts. I had to find a transmission out of a firebird because a Chevy one wasn’t gonna work

That could be done with 12.5 to 1 and about 620 lift and a TCI 4500 converter, weighing around 3300lbs with driver.
Haha! I like how it says “mild 406” then rips a high 10
Awesome
I was born in 55 and the 55 Chevy is my favorite car. We can take a lickin and keep on tickin Mr. !!! 👍🤙☝️🇺🇲
Oh yeah gotta love '55s 👍
I love how it is still old school. Not cut up and newbied
Thats pretty much the ultimate vintage survivor, period perfect car in existence. 9" slicks pullin the wheels 10 " s . Wow .
55' Chevy, thing of beauty. Better looking than 57' in my opinion.
Agreed.
First time I saw a '55, I knew it was the best one.
Love the Junior Stock look, better than the gasser style to me.
Nice. Couple of my hometown boys. While the '55 is great, Larry Perry's '67 Deuce is no slouch either. One of the sweetest Novas you'll ever see.
Very cool!
SOUNDZ NICE AND KRISP. THANX
55 is the best year
Love the car! I picked up a mint set of those front 3 and 1/2 wheels and also have the same cool 60 series shifter.

Probably 12.5 to 1, good flowing heads, maybe 220 ports, 2.06 intake valves, 620-630 lift, a TCI 4500 converter, 3300lbs including driver, 4.10 gears, yeah about 10.80s or 6.60 1/8th mile.
