I have very rarely seen a soil profile as clear as that showing the soil horizons so clearly and so clearly demonstrating just how water logged that one horizon was.
Excellent. I love your attention to detail, your work ethic and the fact that you truly do care about how things look, even before the final grading is done. It’s no wonder you and this company are in such high demand. Congratulations. 😉😎👍
Chris, I love, love, love your long videos, especially the ones dealing with Ponds! They're my favorites! Thank you for taking your valuable time to shoot and edit them for us!
I'm so glad youtube recommended this channel. It's fun to watch. One suggestion, Is it possible to add the job you're working on to the title of the vids going forward? It would just make it easier to follow a job for people finding your channel in the future. Makes it more of a story.
Yes bro I need this myself. Literally had this exact same thought. I figured my comment wouldn't do anything, but seeing that you've commented the same thing there months ago depresses me 😔
Did you ever wonder when you were a child, playing outside in the mud and water, that 30yrs. Later you would still be outside playing in the mud and water.very good video just shows your commitment.😎😎😎😎👍👍👍👍
Looking great ! It was only 96 here in Ct with a 73 degree dew point, but that's hot/humid for us ! Cannot imagine 100 plus with the same dew point, crazy ! Thumbs up Chris !!
Dig my pond 60 feet deep. Down to limestone layer here in Texas. Using small dozer. Large dozers can Crack limestone and therefore let water out and loose pond. Love your videos.
#letsdig18 @30:30, really nice side hill dozer work. That sure is odd with the roots so deep, Chris. Almost looks as if the "pond" was once a wet land with trees, said trees were cut down and the existing pond dig was tossed over the stumps. I couldn't tell if you were seeing a consistent strata of top soil, sand and clay throughout the whole process. No bottles that I saw so not a farmers dump site but anything is possible.
That dirt is going to be wore out before job is done. Like I say pay me now or pay me later. Cheapest price doesn't get you the best job done. Great video and job
It utterly amazes me that you do almost(?) 45 degree slopes with that dozer and dont slide in sideways! Kudos! 🙌 in answer to why people down here have ponds, part of it is the aesthetics, part is practicality- if you have a pond, most times your homeowners insurance is a little lower, cuz if there is a fire, the fire dept has a pond to draw from
Great video, and I must say that you do not have a lot of time off - you're working all the damn time! Nice to see there's still some hard working young people around. 👍👍👍
Saw the pictures of the new bucket, are you sure it's big enough? LMAO. Looks awesome can't wait to see that thumb shredding logs on clearing job real soon.
I think the pond is gonna look really Good the way it's gonna be laid out now Chris, being wider in the front ! Cause when the owner looks out will be so much more water surface to see up front, Don't ya think ? And Man , you talking about the Heat ! Same here in Western Ky. I mean just smokin' Hot !! Be glad when Fall gets here, got to where I hate this damn Heat....lolol...Really enjoyed the long video today Chris !! Thanks for making a longer one this time... Have a Great Evening Man ! And stay safe out in this Heat.....On to the Next !!
Chris you're doing a top job with ya videos enjoy watching them in new zealand. Also like the real gear go volvo. Top job top operator. Keep them videos coming thank you
I love your videos Chris. Are these ponds your clients build for decorating their properties, or do they serve a function such as draining mushy land? Thank you
I feel for you. I'm a firefighter out here in the Texas panhandle. And the past week we have had temperatures of 108 to 111. Not fun putting fires out in full gear.
That soil explanation kinda explains why that part of the country will flood after it gets a certain amount of rain. The rain water has no place to go once it starts raining
Maybe it's an old fill area, someone filled in a low spot with dirt. When I was a kid a friends dad dug a pond and where he put it was a filled in raven. There was some trash buried way down. No one had any idea how long ago that it was filled. Looking good.
When grading slopes, try hanging your camera on a gimble so it will stay level. Gives viewers a better feeling of the slope. Makes a neat shot. 8*) Sure do enjoy watching.
LOL!! I own one!! I've only got a couple years of age on it (1978)! Runs strong. Three sticks can be a bitch. I've run a bigger excavator before and the two sticks is an easy adaptation after that kind of experience.
@@meauran I was a pro on that 3 stick machine. Even competed in a backhoe rodeo in Grand Junction, Co at the Case dealership . Came in 2nd due to the fact they had me using a 580 super E that didn't have same brake pedal configuration.
So with the white layer as a water barrier and basically acting as a big tarp underground, would it be possible to use that to fill a well? Just dig a really deep, cylindrical hole, line it, and drop a pump in there.
Interesting on your soil composition, ponds are only common around here if the ground is marsh/swamp. I converted 106 to Celsius it’s 41c 😳 holy shit we are suffering right now in 28c 83f it’s just bearable almost heat stroke weather 🥴
I don't know how you do is working in that temperature we get 90 degrees up here and that's enough I don't do much outside that'll be nice pond when it's done.👍👍😀😰🍁
watched that dredging, oroville spillway failure recovery, those excavators look like they welded some bucket ears on a 20 yard dumpster, that would be a big bucket
The land there is very different to here in the NE of England. Here we have 2 feet of top soil and then a thick rocky layer of clay some 60 feet thick and then bed rock. I'd always wondered why wherever you dug it's always sandy and wet!
you lucky son of a gun here ( Eastern Ontario ) we have about 2 ft topsoil then bluerock in other places it is 2 inches topsoil then 2ft clay on bedrock ( bluerock requires blasting as the hammer wont touch it )

He's got a couple videos of him running a Deere pattern excavator going back a few years, including a Liebherr long reach that gives him absolute fits that are worth a watch for a chuckle.
I would like to know why larger buckets aren't used? I'm sure there is a reason but what is the deal when moving looser dirt? Why not a bigger bucket? Nice video. Love watching them.
Is this place close enough to work some in the evening after your day job? The 36" bucket looks like a trenching bucket compared to all the other buckets you use. 106? I have seen 103 here at my house in North Texas. The heat index has been 110-115 a number of days already. We were having the Dog Days of August the last week of June. No beneficially measurable rain since late June. You were talking about the ground being a hard sand, Is it what we have called sandy loam?
I love the layers and explanation of the dirt that’s really interesting. One question tho why were you using such a small bucket on your excavator I think it was the 220
Did that material look natural or like fill when you were hitting those stumps at 5’? Only thing that makes sense to me is that it was a natural low spot that somebody filled in way back in the day.
I like how you showed us the cross section of the layers. Makes it easier to understand for us visual learners. You da man 👍🏻
Our dirt is not like that in North Alabama. It varies widely from area to area but nothing like that. I haven’t seen you posting many videos lately.

@assassinlexx The bucket does 12 oz. curls.
But he has never sat in it since he works all the time.
So, instead of calling him the "Stig", we call him the "Stick"
Love watching your vids. You should put numbers on them, so it’s easier to find the next one in the series you do. I’ll hate to miss one;)

To save money, we are gonna cut the belt for the a/c and install a swamp cooler out the back window. Real North Carolina R neck, for sure.

Awesome video Chris looking good hope you have a great week

How deep will the pond be at its deepest point?

That was just to see if we were paying attention! Lol
Chris, could be you are digging out a old Prehistoric Forest, with those old trees?

Now the pond is taking shap .
Nearly an hour thanks. Time to get another beer or 2.

If it gets too big there is not enough power to pull it and not enough counterweight to balance it with a full load. Tippy toes.
