Everyone asks Why is the Syrena Legacy, but no one asks How is The Syrena Legacy. This is so sad. Edit: My experiment has concluded, thank you for participating.
Just started the video but Im so ready to read about a mermaid thats not like other mermaids and has some rare power no one else has and she has to choose between one dark brooding love interest who shuts everyone out but only lets her in and the happy go lucky best friend love interest. This is gonna be sick
Feel like there's probably 3 good explanations for the "why didn't this character think of this when it's clearly a thing they know?" (Re: Gaelen and half Syrena) 1. "Mhmm... it's just as I feared". They knew, but wanted it to not be true/were probing for more information. Needs more foreshadowing imo 2. Mythologization. "What? Half breeds aren't real!" or "But half breeds all have long claws and fish eyes!". Feel like that one would have fit best in the series 3. Full comedy/character is a dumbass. "...OH! Huh, I guess that makes sense. It just never really happens so I didn't think about it"
I literally found this book underneath a shelf at my library as if it had been there for years, read it, was somewhat underwhelmed then like a week later this got uploaded. Wild.
OMG I just remembered that I read these books back in the day.... I think this is the first time I noticed anyone talking about them. I also remember that I hated the male protagonist...
12:00 it would have made more sense if the Gift of Poseidon was why Galen was reluctant to the posibility that she was a half-breed. Instead of acting like he didn't knew or believed half-breed existed he would be more like "the royals of the Kingdom of Poseidon are the last syrena in the world I could ever imagine mating with a human!"
Also, the freshwater syrena town should have been called “Naiad” - which if its been there for centuries, does that mean that every once in a while, they have to led in a bunch of normal people to… mate… with the population? Cause otherwise if they’re secret and closed off, then they would eventually bread out the “half” part of “half-syrena”
guess there must be mating with both humans and themselves going on because if not they either are full (inbred) syrena at some point or they become only human by breeding the Syrena out.
Omg I bought all three of these books years ago and just started to read them and they are horrible, I hate Emma’s mom so much she is the most selfish and heartless character I’ve read yet.
The mom basically beign the Chosen One protagonist of her own story is pretty interesting. Its not that these types of stories usually dont include the parent/parents in the plot (Twilight ironically is the odd-one out, with Bella's parents beign such nothing characters) but in more cliche story I think the mom would be dead and that would just be the backstory
Of fish and man. It seems like a interesting story I'll definitely go watch another review about it. Maybe even read the back cover if I see it in the store😊
As a greek mythology nerd, they lost me at the titles, if you're going to name your book Poseidon and not have Poseidon in your book is a waste to me, also Neptune is the Roman counterpart of Poseidon, so same person.
The US is descending into open fascism south of the border but it could be worse, James Tullos could not have uploaded a 35 minute video about a work of fiction I’ve never heard of today
It has to be a """reference""" (IE: shamelessly taken from) to ASOIF. First book came out in 2012 though, that was peak tumblr age back then so who knows
So how come Poseidon is sprinkling his gift all over the place but Tritons gift is like super rare? Is that confined to the Syrena of the two houses and the freshwater ones are descendants of Poseidon and Triton just has so few followers? I don't get it xD
IMMIDIATLY annoyed with this authoress for naming her two mermaid Houses/Kingdoms “House of Poseidon” and the other “House of Triton” not “Kingdom of NEPTUNE”. Like come lady, Triton is Poseidon’s son and Neptune is his Roman counterpart. This is mythology 101. Also. Im just gonna say it: the violet eyes and white hair is super cringe. Sorry.
it's so weird to listen to James saying "syrena" all the times, cause it sounds like butchered pronounciation of the exactly identical Polish word for mermaid - syrena.
@emiliobustamante2401 probably makes it sound more special to the English native speakers, just like using plain or slightly altered foreign words for magic or worldbuilding stuff - for example in Shadow and Bone's libertious use of "Russian" vocabulary lol
Hey James I want to ask if I can send you this fantasy world I made up. I want to ask if you can judge it and what problems it may have if that is okay?

Then you will be pleasantly surprised

Seeing as some people use kitten as a cute nickname makes me wonder if angel fish is also some sort of house pet in siren society.

The arrival of this book review was foretold by the ancient shelves
oh my god i remember reading this in high school and didn’t bother picking up the second book bc it was so unbearable 😭
so, a protagonist with alexandria's genesis? good start, i hope that's not foreshadowing for the mary sue stuff coming next
OMG I just remembered that I read these books back in the day.... I think this is the first time I noticed anyone talking about them.

I know the sirena are supposed to be merfolk but I keep imagining them as Manatees
Oh the hu-manatee!
I freaking love the early 2000's YA book reviews but I love them most when they're super long 😊
When the MC watches her best friend die. "Oh no..... Anyway."
Surprised the video isn't named "Of Syrena"
Sounds like a scientific paper, "On the Subject of Syrena"
Also, the freshwater syrena town should have been called “Naiad” - which if its been there for centuries, does that mean that every once in a while, they have to led in a bunch of normal people to… mate… with the population? 32:46 "hey Kitten"
I started laughing when he said that, coz in my native language that's how it goes. Fish, frog, cat, bear
The background is sick.
Omg I bought all three of these books years ago and just started to read them and they are horrible, I hate Emma’s mom so much she is the most selfish and heartless character I’ve read yet.
These books had a lot of good ideas but also a lot of bonkers ones.

I like how even though I’m subscribed with notifications on TH-cam apparently waited 6 days to show me this video.
Yay.
:u
Holy shit, you just unearthed 10+ year old memories
Of fish and man. It seems like a interesting story I'll definitely go watch another review about it. Maybe even read the back cover if I see it in the store😊
23:02 WHOOT WHOOT! CHATTANOOGA IN THE HOUSE! (not sure if there is a town named Neptune near here....🤔)
The titles “Of Poseidon” and “Of [insert name]” threw me right back to Handmaid’s Tale nightmares
As a greek mythology nerd, they lost me at the titles, if you're going to name your book Poseidon and not have Poseidon in your book is a waste to me, also Neptune is the Roman counterpart of Poseidon, so same person.
I said it already but to me its so annoying the two opposing houses are Poseidon/Triton and not Poseidon/Neptune
James….That’s weird never mind
Mr Tullos….Too formal
Content Creator that I bribe with likes…ya that’s it
DARK WAR! DARK WAR! DARK WAR! BOOK REVIEW!
This unlocked an old memory. I think I read these in middle school?!
I do not understand "off screen" activities. This is a book! Write it down please 😂😂😂
The US is descending into open fascism south of the border but it could be worse, James Tullos could not have uploaded a 35 minute video about a work of fiction I’ve never heard of today
The US south of the border isn't the US
@@fmsyntheses I live in Canada so that’s what I meant by that
@@PosiWritesStories Oh yeah no that isn't true
They just elected the other color of Israeli shill
Do you people even know what fascism is? Or are you just like a little kid that learned a new word and is using it in every phrase?
@@remuslazar2033fascism is when someone has politics I don't like
Tales of the Otori does the 1st person to 3rd person pretty well.
1:35 Alexandria’s Genesis in 2024??
It has to be a """reference""" (IE: shamelessly taken from) to ASOIF. First book came out in 2012 though, that was peak tumblr age back then so who knows
The whiplash I received
9:45 HBO proudly presents...The Griffanos!
I was obsessed with these books when I was in school, they're so terrible. This and The Siren by Kiera Cass and Dark Life by Kat Falls.
So how come Poseidon is sprinkling his gift all over the place but Tritons gift is like super rare? Is that confined to the Syrena of the two houses and the freshwater ones are descendants of Poseidon and Triton just has so few followers? I don't get it xD

Didn’t he say one house was a guy named after Triton and the other was a guy named after Posiden? That would make sense
Triton is Poseidons son so it does make sense but your idea is much better
"authoress"?
"white hair and violet eyes" woman who just read ASOIAF
Mat I suggest the mummy romance ”Unwrap my heart”?
Nurses are badass, though. If anyone can kick some unsuspecting guy's ass, it's a nurse!
only call me coyote from now on.
James you should read the Trylle trilogy it will not disappoint
AQUATIC ACTION NURSE!
Thanks for this. I feel way better about my own story now lmao
PLEASE read Tigers Curse - 2 Indian princes cursed to shape shift into Tigers. Another mythical character to add to your roster 😅
Thats the book, or at least type of book, Lindsay Ellis and her friend was going to parody on her sequel to AWOKEN book, or whatever its name was
it's so weird to listen to James saying "syrena" all the times, cause it sounds like butchered pronounciation of the exactly identical Polish word for mermaid - syrena.
Siren with a Y, sounds like when people write Magic with a K.

5:13 thanks for the maps i can't place half of the weebley doobly US place names in a map
You know something is wrong when your MOM becomes your sister in law. That is just....ew
Emma's backstory is just "The Tail of Emily Windsnap" for adults 😆
I care of what James' thinks :(
Are the titles like that so it's Syrena, Legacy of Neptune because I don't think that's a bad name
James - please read the poppy war trilogy- really interesting worldbuilding
Hey James I want to ask if I can send you this fantasy world I made up. I want to ask if you can judge it and what problems it may have if that is okay?
you should look up the author Christopher G Nuttal
you should watch the movie adaptation: Barbie, a mermaid tale
not the charmed necklace. At least that's what i think it is...
VIBES!
james you're like a girlfriend to me
Babygirl coded fr fr
Thabk you for summarizing these books so i dont have to read them lol
Yes
Why do mermaids get horny if they have no genitals
So... you like weird and zany things? I wonder what you'd think of my book.
Pleas come to Christ.
