Got my sweet dog from a shelter, bad tear staining, no tear duct problems! He is white so it looked terrible. Gave him bottled water instead of tap, tear stains gone, took about 6 weeks. It has been 2 years and no tear stains or tear duct problem!

Great videos my 1 major tip that has been so HELPFUL - switch to filtered water - I use my Berkey water filter and it made such a difference , my dog used to have very obvious tear stains . Since switching the water back in 2020 tear stains no more . Tap water is often full of so many dangerous chemicals , filtered is best , if you don’t have a filter bottled water would also help . Also of course healthy natural diets

My apricot Poodle tears stains are only from his right eye(even when he was a puppy) I did ask the vet about it. Vet said he is allergic to something in the san Joaquin Valley. I always clean his tear streaks. Wipe gentle. He seems to know because he sits and let's me clean. Keeping the muzzle area near eyes wiped, and on bad days he is given an antihistamine from the Vet.

Your videos are so informative. And I just love your dog. Do you have any recommendations on what to do for stud tail by any chance? I learned about this too late unfortunately. My chihuahua has one and it looks like a cyst. It's swollen. I had taken him to two vets and they didn't even tell me what it is, just told me it wasn't anything to worry about. I'm just recently finding out that's not necessarily true. I've been putting benzoyl peroxide shampoo on it twice a day and a topical antibiotic, but it's not going down. I love my little guy so much and he has all kinds of compiled issues -- collapsing trachea, luxating patellas, dental issues, sluggish thyroid (which a glandular and tincture seem to be helping), and now this. Stud tail, which I had never even heard of.

Kibble fed dogs get tear staining whereas naturally fed dogs rarely have the staining. I used to foster poodles for an organization and after a month with me, eating raw and gently cooked home recipes (balanced recipes that are carnivore centric of course because dogs are carnivores). Currently, my white miniature poodle eats a lot of beef recipes with a lot of heme iron and zero tear stains. It is my opinion that the iron (ferrous) sulfate added to kibble is a major cause of the staining whereas natural form iron in meat is not a problem. Kibble contains a lot of bad stuff that may simply cause excessive tearing in general that then keeps the hair under the eyes moist and welcoming to reddish bacteria. Just sayin'

I wouldn’t use the stock photo of a dog sitting in front of a cooked chicken when talking about home cooked feeding. People might just see that as it being ok to give a cooked chicken with cooked bones and all.

This 'unnamed dog food" LOL LOL I have been buying Mighty Eyes treats that change a dog's chemistry and effect the chemical he said. I think Angel Eyes is similar. If I could get the same results without another expense that would be great.

That surgery is extremely invasive and I would not put my baby thru it, seems like alot could go wrong. Also very expensive. My pup is part poodle and has excessive tearing. I got an eyewash that seems to be helping. I also put him on chewable vitamins that specify for eyes. 🤞 Castor oil (organic, hexane free) also helped us and you can put a drop in each eye and/or under the eye.
