I just got a rigid hammer drill on 12/29/23, the gear switch on mine does the same thing, I press the trigger a few times to get it to slide into position fully, hopefully over time it " wears " in and becomes smoother,
That speed selector seems a bit alarming issue. Speed selectors usually connected directly to the transmission and if by any chance the drill runs while it is on the odd location, it could destroy the mechanism.
