I have enjoyed all the other hymns and wanted to like this one too. Unfortunately, the solo in the final verse loses the majesty of the angels’ praise to Our Lord and turns the focus back on the vocalist.
Pius X condemned operatic mass music. It's fine to listen to while say mopping the floor but keep to just a choir with maybe an organ if the choir needs it for mass.
Just as scripture is not to be used out of context to hit each other over the head neither is Church teaching. It would seem that many of the TLM folks are so counterphobic as to be possibly be called heretics they try to 1 up others. I applaud those who follow the TLM if done sincerely in Good conscience ( Vatican II is your salvation) though many TLM don't accept it. But love is the greatest of Faith hope & love Love is the greatest of these. Love in Him. His peace. God love ya! I do
This is taken from the Litergy of St Basil the Great, replacing the Hymn of the Cherubim in the Byzantine Rite on Holy Saterday, this Rite is in full communion with Rome. It's from the Liturgy.
@@robertmcginness4610 Yeah wasn't talking about the hymn, which is perfectly fine. Rather I was talking about how it was sung. I was condemning the interpretation not the music itself. It happens to be one of my favorite hymns and have sung it in the choir at mass.
