Devil Artsy maybe. But even if she can't remember Majima completely, she still believes that there was someone out there besides Kiryu and Sera who helped her. That's how she remembers Majima a little bit anyway. Though I wished that she could recognize him.
Makoto never clearly saw his true face before due to her blindness. The clearest she can see Majima before he changed his persona was when she slightly recovered from her blindness, although it was still blurry enough for her to unable to make out his facial details. Moreover, Majima never told his name at all in the first place. Just so you know, it's for the best. He doesn't want her to be dragged back into the Yakuza underworld ever again.
I think the narrative makes it clear that Majima is NOT actually insane at all. It's a persona he created, partly to distance himself from his pain and partly to put fear onto everyone around him. Majima knows there is no way out of the Yakuza life for him, so he buries the past and adopts a gives-no-shits attitude. He's theatrical, he's eccentric, he's damaged and even a little crazy, but he's not the complete lunatic he pretends to be.
Even in 4 you can already see that. Whenever he's around Saejima, he's not acting like a crazy person, he's serious. I think they added that starting with 4 since you can't really have Majima's character keep showing up without depth and always just being the "loony character".
He was always the Nishikiyama to Saejima's Kiryu. And Saejima spent 25 Years in the Hole. Majima didn't get why Saejima would do such a thing, single handedly starting a war for the sake of his boss when he planned the hit that day. But now he understands exactly why he did it and he will get to the top his own way. The story is all about oath and promises and now he has found his way to uphold his promise to Saejima.
Yeah man, I love this portrayal of Goro the best! The other games he's just some annoying jackass. In this game, he actually have deep character depth.
Makes me wonder how real the psycho image Majima projects from here on out actually is... Or if it's just to cover up or maintain the wreck that's left of him.
I feel like it's partly that he finds it fun since he can now spread his wings and partly to be a piece of his tough guy Yakuza act, makes him unpredictable, makes people nervous of him which is good.
it sucks that we even have to speculate on his transition. Majima was normal even during the Makoto scene at the end and some time had obviously passed since he decided to "be free". Nishitani was more Majima than Majima was this whole game.. I actually thought he had something to do with Majima going all wild until he got shot to death.
Majima isn't actually crazy. He created the mad dog persona to honor characters like Nishitani because they did whatever they want, they weren't dogs on leashes. Majima wanted to live his life like that, fun and in his own way. Majima was psychotic only in Yakuza 1, because they didn't know he was going to be so popular and Sega didn't know Yakuza would be a series.

I have never encountered any video game in history that has a narrative anywhere near as good as Yakuza 0. The scene with Makoto reuniting with her brother and this ending scene are both so powerful. Happy endings don’t always make for great stories, the best stories are the ones that feel real
That’s why this game is called Sega’s masterpiece. Amazing story, amazing characters, amazing combat. I can’t believe that there are people that actually hate this game. How could you hate a game like this?
just finished the game, first Yakuza game i've ever played and man it was an experience, so many twists and turns and quite a lot of tearjerking moments that combined with the over the top silliness of the side missions and activities made this whole this really surreal, can't wait to play the other yakuza games.
The ZombieMan - Hell, I remember reading somewhere that she did die. So here I was thinking that was going to be Majima's turning point from being calm to crazy. I thought he was going to go on a killing spree after going insane.
I love how the eyes in this game seem to say so much. Whether its due to the realistic face models, or just the facial animations, or the amazing voice acting, each character has an established personality, and seems so real. In that final bar scene with Nishiki, Kiryu's eyes speak volumes without the need for any long-winded exposition. This game was a drag at times because of the difficult final boss fights, but the story is far and away one of the best I've ever had the pleasure of playing. It made me fall in love with the Ryu Ga Gotoku series.
The scene with Makoto not recognizing (the only thing she remember is a black silhouette) Majima and then he walking away got me mad af, with a teary eye of course. The "Yo...KIRYU-CHAN!" cured my depression tho.
They meet again in kiwami 2. Although it was done rather subtle, Makoto did figure out who the one eyed mad man was and managed to thank him in her own way
The first song in the Credits made this awesome experience easy worth 60€ i paid for. This is one hell of An emotional ride. Thank you Sega for letting me experience this. Easily one of the best games this generation.
God, I just come back to this video every once in awhile because it really is just breathtaking how good the ending is for every character here. I played Yakuza 0 first, so I didn't really appreciate this ending as much on my first play through, but after playing the rest of the games, this ending is just so special. I don't think I will ever be able to experience such a beautiful moment in any video game franchise for the rest of my life. Sega hit the nail on the head with this.
FUCK! Anyone else imagined if that damn doctor hadn't arrived at that moment the two were gazing at each other? If Majima walked away, would Makoto have chased him, demand an apology, and maybe he had no choice but to speak, and then she'd recognize him, etc Goddammit ;_; that scene breaks my heart everytime...
It had to be this way. Majima knows Makoto had been through enough with the yakuza and how it nearly killed her. Since he's back in the game, Majima couldn't stay around her lest she get involved again. I have to wonder if his radical change in his looks was also partially done to make sure Makoto wouldn't recognize him in even the slightest bit, thus keeping her safe from reconnecting to the yakuza underworld through Majima. It's a bittersweet ending to their relationship.
This is the only Yakuza game i've played and am looking forward to play the other ones. One question though. Did Majima and Kiryu already meet prior to the ending? I know they said in the game that they each heard of one another, but why did Majima greet Kiryu like they havent seen each other for a while?
there was a 1 month time gap so they must have met up during the period Kiryu was trying to get back into the Dojima family, chances are there was a meeting concerning him rejoining the Tojo which Majima (being a Shimano captain) would definitely be privy to, hence him meeting Kiryu during that time skip.
Nishki really save Kiryu from turning into a killer. If he hadn't stop Kiryu, Kiryu will become like Nishki he was in Yakuza 1. We would also might his story for rest of Yakuza series
thanks for the playthrough man. finished the game already and just wanted to watched the whole thing again to understand the plot better. fk this game is amazing
Having only played Yakuza 7 before this I wondered how Majima went from being a normal guy in 0 to being batshit insane in 7. Now that I know why, its quite heartbreaking.
He had to do it, so Makoto will not get hurt by any Yakuza thugs anymore or even get dragged into another conflict. Because losing a precious person you cherished and love can be painful. It's better this way. If it would happen to me, I'd do the same.
He's laughing but he's clearly in hysterics. Dude was the best assassin in Asia and he just had his teeth force fed to him. Probably undid a few screws in his head. Majima being overwhelmingly emotional probably didn't help dial down the pressure.
I uninstalled this games for like 5 times finally i finished the game today, what a emotional rollercoaster, the ending brought tear to my eyes :((( , now i see why people like yakuza games.
why people asking about majima's persona? if he was me, i would do the same thing. imagine when u love someone but u couldn't have them. u leave them to keeping them safe and even didn't introduce urself, that would be really hurt. i can see why majima is crazy after yakuza 0, makoto is the reason
While i understand it's a year old comment, it's more over due to people like Nishitani who had the "no fucks given" lifestyle that shaped his persona. It's more of just an act he uses around to intimidate and really stand out. Because...[Spoilers ahead.] In Yakuza Kiwami 2, during the Majima Saga, he meets Makoto again, finally closing off the story of her for him. He drops his personality there and has that solemn, deep, formal and emotional attitude again. Atleast he would finally now know she's happy in life. He still refuses to speak to avoid being recognized, or saying his name.
I really, REALLY, want to play a prequel game that takes place before 0. Maybe one where you control a young Shintaro Kazama (hell yeah) or Makoto Tojo, the founder of the clan (there has to be reason as to why Sega is shrouding this guy in mystery). That would be so amazing. Also, I wanna see more of Nihara, since he was a total badass as an old man. Imagine him in his prime, alongside Makoto Tojo.
Here to watch the end scenes again. I randomly installed it via game pass and was instantly hooked. Just finished it. Man, what a story, what a ride…I laughed and cried. ❤❤❤
It's heartbreaking to see Majima go through all of this, as well as falling in love, only to do what he does. I get why he did it though; he wanted to protect Makoto and give her a happy life that he couldn't provide due to there being no way out normally in the Yakuza life. He even punched down the guys so that she wouldn't recognize the name. He adopted this mad dog persona because of people like Nishitani and Awano, who sacrificed themselves but lived life without a leash. To be honest, I think he really did love Makoto, or was close to that sorta feeling for her, and they always say letting go can be the truest form of love when it comes to that.
Kiryu would’ve killed out of revenge and hate, but stopped when Nishiki told him to hold out and that he’ll be with him if he crosses that line Majima too would’ve killed out of revenge and hate, but also for protection, but Sera told him that there are other ways to protect without killing and to consider other’s feelings The difference between them though was that Majima would straight up kill them from the start, while Kiryu was hesitant
I beat Shibusawa at midnight hoping to finish the game before bed. Came here just to see how long the ending cutscenes were, then skipped them all for the time being to go to bed and watch this in the morning 🤣
I find it funny that Kiryu was hesitating to kill and Nishiki stopped him from killing but didn't he already kill a load of guys when he was shooting out of the car with Oda? he must of killed a lot of guys then so he has already crossed that line xD that kind if ruined it for me a bit that he didn't kill Kuze or the other guy just a plot hole that he didn't kill anyone when he did #, they just weren't important people xD
Watched Lots Of Anime The thing about yakuza is.......the Gameplay and story are separate. Anyone you presumably killed in the gameplay is not actually dead
I think it's worth mentioning that even if we decide to say that "Yes these guys are dead", the series has a big emphasis on the difference between killing in self-defense and killing in cold blood.
In the car chase, it's either kill or be killed. If your opponent can't move anymore, killing him/her seems sadistic, especially if it's done out of anger.
thanks for the walkthrough, they were great really ! anyway , do u by any chance do made the other series ? like yakuza 1 - 6 perhaps ? if u do that would be awesome ! i mean i wont need to find some other channel and just look on urs instead. you're awesome ! thanks for the gameplay
I never managed to play the Yakuza series, so I read up on spoilers instead. Learning how Majima fought tooth and nail to protect Makoto only to leave her and then meet the doctor who'd also fall in love with her was emotional, to say the least. Speaking of the doctor, he's a lucky man thanks to being in the Mad Dog of Shimano's good graces and for being Makoto's future lover during the ending. I still wish that Majima would have made him understand what was done to ensure Makoto's survival and who made that possible. I also wish that Makoto and the doctor would return in a future Yakuza game to repay Majima somehow and that they know the truth-all that COULD be possible judging from the variety of substories that were in other games. Kiryu-chan might be gone-alive but gone-but Majima deserves the spotlight again in future Yakuza games. Long live the Mad Dog of Shimano.

Those left Makoto wondering and confused the whole scene. Damn man, I can't get enough of this game.
Damn, the ending is so bittersweet for Majima, even though I knew there was no possible way for him to stay with Makoto the end still hitted me.
Welcome to Yakuza. All the endings are bittersweet in some ways. Except for 4, which had a good ending.
Majima deserves everything on this planet earth and ive only got my love to offer. Majima Goro best boy.
I have never encountered any video game in history that has a narrative anywhere near as good as Yakuza 0. The scene with Makoto reuniting with her brother and this ending scene are both so powerful.
Happy endings don’t always make for great stories, the best stories are the ones that feel real
Played the whole game on mute cuz I was working n damn near she'd a tear. Sega is incredible
That’s why this game is called Sega’s masterpiece. Amazing story, amazing characters, amazing combat. I can’t believe that there are people that actually hate this game. How could you hate a game like this?
@@hauntingphantom14really?
just finished the game, first Yakuza game i've ever played and man it was an experience, so many twists and turns and quite a lot of tearjerking moments that combined with the over the top silliness of the side missions and activities made this whole this really surreal, can't wait to play the other yakuza games.
:(
Have You Played Kiwami Yet?
@@KaroshiSalad2000s I'm about to start it ^^
@@akey_9655 Nice.
@@akey_9655 Checking after 2 weeks, how is it?
that is what i call a proper ending
The start of a legend. The "babyface" Kiryu cracks me up everytime lol
Totally. Beats that shitty yakuza 6 ending
yeah, like, it's 50 minutes long overall, like, this is what i call the proper ending
@@shabegsingh1843 The Yakuza 6 ending is good what are you talking about? Do you think it's bad because it's sad?
@@LefYakuza agreed
Ok let's be real here everyone who else thought the girl would have died? I know I did
The ZombieMan - Hell, I remember reading somewhere that she did die. So here I was thinking that was going to be Majima's turning point from being calm to crazy. I thought he was going to go on a killing spree after going insane.
I thought the same thing too.
i thought majima was actually gonna kill her
When Majima left to get her Takoyaki, I thought she would’ve been killed and her body left in that park for Goro to find
So you are telling me Majima wore the same shitty jacket for over 25 years?
Kiryu too
Hey his jacket is feckin cool shut up
@@madarauchiha-dj9bk not everyone can pull it off, so it ain't that cool
He had a black-red suit too lol
Don't disrespect the man's drip
''Kazuma Kiryu's current whereabouts are unknown'' hits a lot harder after playing 6
O.o
Nishiki: fine. Wear it for the rest of your life then!
Kiryu: *was that a fucking challenge*
The scene with Makoto not recognizing (the only thing she remember is a black silhouette) Majima and then he walking away got me mad af, with a teary eye of course.
The "Yo...KIRYU-CHAN!" cured my depression tho.
They meet again in kiwami 2. Although it was done rather subtle, Makoto did figure out who the one eyed mad man was and managed to thank him in her own way
"I don't have much cash on me"
Nishiki: just grab some from Mr. Shakedown, dude
The first song in the Credits made this awesome experience easy worth 60€ i paid for. This is one hell of An emotional ride. Thank you Sega for letting me experience this. Easily one of the best games this generation.
“His current whereabouts are unknown” Yeah I guess you could say that after Yakuza 6.......
You can see Shimano has a twinge of sorrow when Majima mentions his sworn brother.
I cried like a child alot in this game. Jesus what a story and what a game.
awesome ending to a great game
Really?
It was cool when Majima & Kiryu meet face to face and the background music is dramatic 50:51
Andy Wong it’s from the first game.
27:54 Majima chose to follow Nishitani's way of life
Strange how Kiryu and Nishiki's conversation basically foreshadows the first game's events.
I mean yeah, this game was released 11 years after the first Yakuza game, it would make sense to do allusions to the story of Yakuza
Strange how? it was intentional all the way
KIRIYU CHAN!! Wished my friends greeted me like that xD
If your name was Kiryu
Your name's Kiryu, too!?
You don't want someone like Majima to be your friend
@@Legendnewer I want all the sexy dances and moves!

Yakuza 0 was something else, one minute you can be absolutely pissing yourself then next minute in tears
33:40 makoto: I CAN HEAR EVERYTHING YOURE SAYING
To be honest It'd be a perfect ending for the game series.
The end of the beginning
I'm so glad I started the series with 0. Seeing how Kiryu and Majima became who they are has been a trip and a half.
23:38, kiryu took nishiki's words to heart and wore the same suit for his entire life
This is the only Yakuza game i've played and am looking forward to play the other ones.
One question though. Did Majima and Kiryu already meet prior to the ending? I know they said in the game that they each heard of one another, but why did Majima greet Kiryu like they havent seen each other for a while?
CoolDad there's a time gap between that end scene and the rest of the game. they hadn't met during the actual game.
there was a 1 month time gap so they must have met up during the period Kiryu was trying to get back into the Dojima family, chances are there was a meeting concerning him rejoining the Tojo which Majima (being a Shimano captain) would definitely be privy to, hence him meeting Kiryu during that time skip.
I watch this littaraly every night this is the best game I've ever played , and i have played all the yakuza's
I thank you for taking the time to record and share the videos of the game, the series is written well to me.
So You Like Benny Goodman?
The scene at the bar with Nishiki always leave me in a bad mood. Akira downfall is heartbreaking.
50:00 this is why I love majima so much
“Once a man’s got his fists up, he’s gotta follow through.”
Nishki really save Kiryu from turning into a killer. If he hadn't stop Kiryu, Kiryu will become like Nishki he was in Yakuza 1. We would also might his story for rest of Yakuza series
The credits start, and so does my pain.
thanks for the playthrough man. finished the game already and just wanted to watched the whole thing again to understand the plot better. fk this game is amazing
The series as a whole is pretty damn amazing. Glad you enjoyed it!
seeing Nishiki in Y0 is so painful, when you know the story of YK
Just beat this game well written game 🔥
the greatest form of Love is that of sacrifice ..
I could just be imagining this, but I could swear that Majima's pupil dilates during his close up scene with Makoto.
thank you for posting. My game crashed in the middle of the scenes and i won't feel like playing all the way up again
'Wear it for the rest of your life!" and here we get the dragon of dojima.
Having only played Yakuza 7 before this I wondered how Majima went from being a normal guy in 0 to being batshit insane in 7.
Now that I know why, its quite heartbreaking.
23:36 and then he proceeded to wear that suit for the rest of his life
Team MajimaMakoto! This scene is so heartbreaking, though the scene with her watch is kinda heartwarming. Majima is one hell of a man
He had to do it, so Makoto will not get hurt by any Yakuza thugs anymore or even get dragged into another conflict. Because losing a precious person you cherished and love can be painful. It's better this way. If it would happen to me, I'd do the same.
is laogui actually whinning in fear or laughing at majima?
laughing, i believe
Because...[Spoilers ahead.]
In Yakuza Kiwami 2, during the Majima Saga, he meets Makoto again, finally closing off the story of her for him. He drops his personality there and has that solemn, deep, formal and emotional attitude again. Atleast he would finally now know she's happy in life. He still refuses to speak to avoid being recognized, or saying his name.
after all of this, then Nishiki turns into the antagonist in the Yakuza Kiwami is a big punch to the guts😭😭
Thank you kindly for the playthrough! Wonderfully done, and well played!
Imagine him in his prime, alongside Makoto Tojo.
lol and you have to beat kuze 4x too
Here to watch the end scenes again. I randomly installed it via game pass and was instantly hooked. Just finished it. Man, what a story, what a ride…I laughed and cried. ❤❤❤
Bru when i first played the game i was so into the game that i didnt even notice the cutscene was THAT LONG
Yeah, apparently it came very close to MGS4 in terms of longest cutscene
Such and emotional ending... and a beginning of 2 legends :)
@24:52 “I -uh... don’t have much cash on me”
You liar! We make bank from the real estate minigame! 😂
I had like 18 billion stacked so I was like "tf you mean you don't have much cash" 😂😂
Rewatching this (beat it in March) while Yakuza Kiwani is installing for my first playthrough. So anxious! And what a series!
I literally can't help but cry every time I see Makoto and Majima
it's 11pm let me finish the final mission in this game i bet it wont take too long
*reaches the credits at 2 am*
I like how Majima is insane by choice, at any point in the other yakuza games he could be chill
Majima is THE character in the Yakuza world. Absolutely fantastic. AND THAT ENDING OH BOIIIII
im came here after finishing this game , the last fight was the boss fighter ever
Kiryu would’ve killed out of revenge and hate, but stopped when Nishiki told him to hold out and that he’ll be with him if he crosses that line
Majima too would’ve killed out of revenge and hate, but also for protection, but Sera told him that there are other ways to protect without killing and to consider other’s feelings
The difference between them though was that Majima would straight up kill them from the start, while Kiryu was hesitant
I beat Shibusawa at midnight hoping to finish the game before bed. Came here just to see how long the ending cutscenes were, then skipped them all for the time being to go to bed and watch this in the morning 🤣
2:10
Spoiler alert
But it’s crazy foreshadowing how nishki says these lines and when he crosses that line his empathetic character no longer exists
Foreshadowing for events that we already know of?

There can only be one dragon.
WTH,the last part was soooo emotional with that watch, until "Kiryu Chan"' LOL
Catch ya on the flip side, Majima-Chan.
“…then I’ll cross it with you!”
…fuck. 😭
#Rubberbullets
I think it's worth mentioning that even if we decide to say that "Yes these guys are dead", the series has a big emphasis on the difference between killing in self-defense and killing in cold blood.
In the car chase, it's either kill or be killed. If your opponent can't move anymore, killing him/her seems sadistic, especially if it's done out of anger.
@@kartikayysola yeah. And Kiryu is very much a criminal who mainly kills in self defence.
nishiki and kiryu having a moment while shibusawa is just like "MF didn't even kill me smh. can't have shit in tokyo"
THIS GAME STORYLINE IS JUST TOO GOOD
great series but congrats to everyone who waded through that final mission and then proceeded to watch the ending in one sitting

Jesus it didn't feel like it when I experienced this, but it really do be 51 minutes....
fr, it felt like at least 4 hours while playing it...
I love how the "ending" is an hour long 😂
I never managed to play the Yakuza series, so I read up on spoilers instead.
And... Kiryu's back in Like a Dragon 8
@@BloodAssassin I heard the news, too. I also know that he'll be going by a codename until further notice.
