  • Is this truly the way to cut cost?
This is a response to a video I was recommended to watch about a comparison between 2023 toyota corolla hybrid and 2011 citroen c4 1.6hdi.
If you look at my videos, I owned both toyota prius plug in hybrid and citroen c4 1.6hdi, but I prefer citroen as the best way to reduce costs than the hybrid.
All is explained in the video.
If you have a question or advice or suggestion, please comment below and I will trying to respond asap.

I have a 2013 model C3 PICASSO diesel chip tuning, 770km in the city. The only problem i am facing after 200.000 km is dpf. A cost of 1000 euros
I decided to sell it and buy a Toyota Corolla cross hybrid, after getting presure from my wife. Cost is 30.890 euros.
Guys i am regrettong it every single moment. The stake here is talking and grumping coming from my wife vs 30.000 euros. Now that i am thinking of it...i made the right choice😅

If Toyota wasn't so short sighted and didn't have a patent monoply of its series/parallel, planetary gear hybrids, there would be a lot more choice for hybrids for many more types of vehicles.
That open window was long gone for many years now available second hand. I would be happier with the car market if a Citroën Picasso or Berlingo, or any car with a correct engine and battery cradle had a hybird or EV battery
Every car should have the service to be overhauled and retrofitted. But what societies inherits has been decades and decades of waste. It's the business model across the industry that is at fault. Not hybrids or EVs
If Toyota thinks they have to compete with Tesla, turning Toyota into a premium status symbol, they would be blind sighted by BYD. BYD is making the mass adoptable EVs that Tesla couldn't, they're too greedy to step away from premium profits.

      That's true bro,
Also if toyota used a diesel engine in their latest hybrid, it would be extremely economical.

      @@fix-and-drive-diy-repairs Sound pal👍
It's a big if, I know the hybrids well, all energy comes from the Atkinson cycle petrol, while all power comes from both the engine and battery. If the batteries were better with regen and capacity storage, they would make a better Hybrid. Plugin hybrids prove this. But that's a whole NiMH patent embargo.
The sole reason why Toyota's Prius exists is because of California Air Resources Board "Ultra Lowe Emissions" regulations.
A diesel would not have passed. Not only that, a diesel 20 years ago and today would be more expensive than a Yaris engine with different cam timing

@@toyotaprius79bro, just scroll down and see 3 videos I made 5 years ago about the fuel economy of my toyota prius plug-in hybrid. Without charging, I got ~50mpg!
The only time I got ~100mpg, was when I was charging it twice a day, but I was losing money! I was leaving home at 6am with 3kwh, came back at 10am to charge for 90 minutes, came again at 3pm to charge for 90 minutes! This 3hrs of charging made me lose money on charging and customers and work longer hours!
That's why I built another battery with tesla module to reduce coming back and forth home to charge costing me ~£1000. Absolute disaster!
I ended up swapping prius with my wife's citroen, the car I am using today.
To my wife the prius was excellent. She loved it. She could take kids to school and go shopping without using petrol at all. Her journeys were less than 15miles a day 90% of the time.
I am talking from experience! The hybrid is a sad game if you are looking for cutting your costs!

Ok so when you have heavy loads on the Citroen same it won’t give you great miles per gallon that’s how it is for all cars but without loads Toyota wins

Well if I tested my citroen without any load, just me, I would get 900 miles on 1 tank

Also bro, my main query was regarding reducing costs. For me, spending £25k plus interest just to gain roughly 9mpg does not work for me.
I am not saying others shouldn't do it. All I am saying is, I would rather invest that money in "buy to let" property and let my tenants pay off the mortgage for me.

You talking about 800miles in tank but Citroën has much better bigger tank than Corrola.

60 liters and 65mpg, whether full tank or half tank.
      Currently, ~£90 per week

If you want to see that I am not monkeying check a video on whatcar. They compared a skoda 1.6 diesel estate with corolla hybrid estate. Diesel was better on fuel economy and cheaper to buy.

      I don't trust VW group...not reliable.
Isn't only consumption but also cost of any problems will appear in the future..
For me, hybrid is the way to go.
I'm not taxi driver, so the miles I'm traveling will be enough.
I'm testing these days a Corrolla hybrid 1,8 & the consumption is amazing.
      Thank you for your replies.
