    THANK YOI! Glad to know the extraneous stuff on the sides of your backdrop is no big deal. I have been sooo stressing about that.

    Thank you Dan. Whoever asked you for this advice came up with a really great topic. It’s reassuring that casting directors aren’t concerned about the rest of the background too! Have a great weekend. Take care, Cindy

      Thanks Cindy. Yeah, it’s nice to know, and remember that we probably overthink everything as well.

    What about simply cutting after the slate and moving the camera back for the full body slate? You can put both clips together and it looks way more professional no?

    • @ActingCareerExpert
      @ActingCareerExpert  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's certainly an option for sure. I was showing an alternative for folks who weren't too good at editing or wanted to skip that step, but that would definitely work! Thanks for watching.

    Hi Dan, I see this is an older video, so I’m not sure if language has changed. Now CD’s usually ask for a slate with full body shot. I’m assuming that is the same as a full body slate. For that, I generally use editing software and combine the 2 shots to avoid the backwards scuffle. Probably doesn’t matter, but I feel like it looks a little cleaner. I will check out all your videos, though, I appreciate it!❤

    Dan, what kind of lighting are you using. My lights have a umbrella, should I switch to box lighting?. Thanks. Just so you know I just now starting back after almost a year dealing with cancer.

      I've used these lights from time to time.

      Natural light is the best if you can get it.

    Your slate is a little at an angle. I assume casting directors want front on. Maybe the angle is so the rest of the stuff in the room on the other side can't be seen as well? It's a fine slate though, and this was a very helpful video.

    i see you use a i phone and i guess a apple lap top. i have a i phone but a pc and they don't mesh. what program do you use for editing I guess movie magic? any suggestion to fix this either by a new phone $$$$ or a mac .....thanks Bob Sattler

    • @ActingCareerExpert
      @ActingCareerExpert  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is an app called InShot that can edit your videos in your Iphone. It can stitch them together. If you are submitting with eco cast, the audition and the slate can be sent as separate files. Also, depending on which version of phone you have you can edit inside your phone as well. I should probably do a video on that.

    Now that the pandemic is over, is this technique still valid and acceptable? Or, when doing a full body slate, does the entire background need to be a clean or blank. You indicate that CD’s don’t care about the area not covered by the background. Is that still the case?

    • @ActingCareerExpert
      @ActingCareerExpert  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes,
      Thanks for your question. It's the same still.

  • @maralynnebeyou

    What if your apartment is not big enough to have it that far, as well as needing it to be wide the entire time

    • @ActingCareerExpert
      @ActingCareerExpert  วันที่ผ่านมา

      put your phone or camera setting to the widest possible setting and you should be able to fit. Just below the knee is good enough for full body

  • @maralynnebeyou
    @maralynnebeyou 3 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    But what about all that space on the sides? That's what I'm always told it shouldn't be there

    • @ActingCareerExpert
      @ActingCareerExpert  วันที่ผ่านมา

      The space on the sides doesn't matter. Casting knows you don't live in a studio.

  • @RConn55

    You read the scene in a full body slate or just show your body type?

    • @ActingCareerExpert
      @ActingCareerExpert  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just the slate. Good question. Thanks for watching-
