Our economic indicators are so reliable here in the US. We have extremely low unemployment with labor participation rates at decade lows. We have exceptional growth and a strong labor market despite majority of families finding it difficult to pay for groceries. I find western economic statistics about the economy to be more manipulated than China's. At least in China you can go there and see that what was recently a fishing village is now a bustling city with millions of inhabitants. In the West we somehow have stable economic growth in cities with empty factories, homeless encampments and sky rocketing drug addiction. So which country is fabricating their growth? In America there is a strong correlation between economic growth and a rise in poor real-world outcomes like homelessness, addiction, factory closures, low labor participation. That makes absolutely no sense.
Also can we accept that the US has tons of vassal states around the world including Japan and most of Europe. Those countries have less independence militarily and economically than any countries bordering China.
Everything said here seems so blind to how the world operates. Mr. Williams describes China acting like pretty much every other country - but he does so in breathless terms and hyperbole. You could make the same argument for the US on most if not all of his points. Case and point - he refers to China's one-month long intervention in Vietnam in 1979 as if that is the defining moment in Vietnam's modern history... not the French and US intervention that lasted 20 years and killed over 1 million Vietnamese people. Give me a break. This guy is useless at putting things into perspective. He's just peddling lies and manipulation.
