For Britain it was 0.1 per cent, for the US it was 0.3 per cent, in France it was minus 0.4 per cent, in Germany minus 0.7 per cent and in India minus 1.3 per cent. According to the mid 2024 IMF report, China's economy was expected to grow by 5 percent in 2024, while the US GDP is projected to grow by 2.6% percent last year, Long story short, the suggestion that the Chinese economy is somehow 'in trouble' or collapsing would be news if it were true. It isn't. I'm not Chinese and have no reason to do anything but look at the facts. You seem to have trouble accepting a more open and wealthy China. If Mr Williams thinks China needs a new economic model given the country's growth is at 5% a year, maybe he should look at history. In 1997, the UK had a bigger economy than China and India combined. Now, India's is 10% larger than the UK. China is 600% larger than the UK's economy, according to David Lammy Foreign Secretary in June 2024. If China needs a new economic model I suggest otherwise. With 70,000 US companies now operating in China and 32,000 new foreign companies a year entering China maybe Mr Williams should get more up to date information.
