They’ll never be another Perry Como or Frank Sinatra dean Martin or Sammy Davis Junior a dick Haynes or Judy Garland so sad that our young people don’t understand the beauty of tree music I was a little boy in the 50s and was privileged enough to listen to the Perry Como shows thank you for posting this God bless you and sweet dreams Jeff Bradford
I’ve heard Eddie Fisher and Vic Damone sing this great song , and they are marvellous at it, but Perry for me is the best, plus he’s singing it live while the others where on a record.
I have long thought Como's version of this song (with basically this arrangement) on the "Como Swings" album from 1959 may be the best recording Perry ever made. The way he can transition between nearly singing in a whisper to being full-throated in seconds is amazing.
You 'may be' right - it's so natural and, disarming at the same time... Perry, makes it humorous and 'light', which is challenging with a song like this. Very romantic... with a 'we' ending, too boot ! A very affable entertainer with a gift of making everybody - including the band and the audience - feel included and appreciated
What a great performer loved to watch his show when I was a kid. I've heard Julio Iglesias sing this, I like Perry's version better. Thank you, for posting.
Perry Como was a fine ballad vocalist, but at times he acts like a comedian, & that infuriates me. Perry, be serious, & keep to your natural musical talent. I hope you are listening upstairs among the heavenly clouds, & I am sure, even the angels will criticise your performance. Como's performance with Cole Porter's "Begin The Beguine, " was substanded & way below his impeccable high standards. It was live, Irene Mccann, one year ago, do you remember the differentials in quality between studio recordings & live performances, that was your observations one year ago. His millions of followers will not be impressed by his lighthearted attitude & comedy antics of this beautiful romantic ballad. To Irene Mccann one year ago, & Vincent Lynch, 2 years ago. Vincent, you must of been in an intoxicating trance when you viewed Perry Como's musical video. I am glad, Irene, that you mentioned the differentials in the qualities between live & studio recordings. Como's video was lIVE, that proves your points. View my comments above(nov 2021), & you will realise that I know my musical subjects. I rest my case. No offence, to Irene & Vincent, just constructive justified true criticism.
I remember on one of Perry's TV specials, Leslie Uggams and Paul Lynde talked about him. Paul: "I have to warn you, you might have to slap his face." Leslie: "To keep him from getting fresh?" Paul: "To keep him from falling asleep."
Paul Wilson where is your taste, in your backside I think, yes MATT HAPPENS TO BE MY FAVOURITE BRITISH SINGER, BUT HES NOT A PATCH ON THE FABULOUS PERRY COMO
Oh how I loved his voice...we watch him on TV all the time. My daddy loved him and had all his songs.
Perry Como, in my opinion, has the most beautiful voice, so smooth.
Cantata con dolcezza , lo stile di Pierino COMO grandissimo...
R.I.P.
This gentleman a true class act. His and Lena's tribute to Nat Cole after his passing, one of my favorites.
Perry, any song he touched he made his own

🎈🎼💙💛
Not forgetting one of, if not the first real crooner, Bing Crosby. Perry takes some beating but Bing's voice is eternal.
Qué voz

Impreggisbie!!
Come posso riparare a questo commento?? Volevo solo dire che Perry Como era impareggiabile!!!!! Chiedo scusa a ha letto x la mia distrazione!!!
Julio Inglesias couldn’t sing to save his life, his voice is not nice and smooth, he’s got a wobbly voice, give me Perry any day.
Big people choon!!!
