I was born in 1956 so I really did grow up with this because my parents had it playing on our Hi-Fi stereo! Perry was a dreamy looking man. And Doris had a way about her that girls wanted to emulate. RIP Both of you. I know you are singing wherever you are.
They broke the mold with these two great singers. The bodies of work by Perry and Doris should be required study by all music universities and vocal students.
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is what is called "entertainment." Never to be confused with the trash that is given that label today. The greats are gone and those of us lucky enough to have been around to enjoy them ....our lives were enhanced and were we ever lucky. Thanks to YT for reviving these gems.
THIS is singing! No vocal gymnastics! No electronic trickery! And, the songs are wonderful! This is why the WWII generation and Baby Boomers grieve about the state of music. These people kept their glorious voices for decades, and you can see how they are beloved. Bieber and others, especially with their antics, will be forgotten, and people still will listen to Doris, Perry, Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra and others. It's been about midway into the Nineties that music lost its way. What happened?!
Two talented beautiful people with a gold plated characters, both are gone now but they are remembered here on You Tube for those of us who appreciated their memory and entertainment for so many years.
4:15 I would make googly eyes at him, too, if I was singing with him; he was always so terribly handsome and a wonderful talented gentleman!! RIP Doris & Perry.
Doris Day and Perry Como were very good friends with each other in real life.....how I wish she had met a man like Perry who would've brought her a lifetime of love, warmth and security that she desired so much (psssst….Doris & Perry would've made a lovely couple in another day and time). :)
Perry met his future wife when they were about 14 or 15. It was the first date and last for each of them. Although he was a barber his wife encouraged him to sing and leave Canonsburg, Pa. because she knew how talented he was.
I love the way people "back in the day" could show affection by putting a hand on someone's shoulder, or an arm around the other person, or holding hands, or hugging WITHOUT it being considered assault or inappropriate. That's the world I grew up in, and I loved it. Today sucks!!!
Watching videos such as this make me happy and sad at the same time...so great to see such talent, poise, and effortless class. But it's also sad when you think about what passes for talent and celebrity today.
I was there while they were rehearsing for this show. I'm a fan of both....especially him. He was such a cutie and really nice. Even in the rehearsal hall, she was flirty with him.
What a beautiful medley, so complex and interesting yet Doris and Perry sailed through it as if it were child's play. Two total pros from a bygone era when the level of professionalism and musicianship vastly exceeded anything to be seen today
Sherron Teal yes, I agree. She actually started her career with singing and then in 1948 she became an actress in her first movie, Romance on the High Seas... which I absolutely adore. My friends think I’m strange that my "role model" is Doris Day and I’m 15 haha. Which is kind of interesting but I love older movies and songs so much. They remind me of my granny. 💖
She began her singing career in Les Brown's Orchestral early 40's ..I began collecting her recording in all modes..seen her movies many times over her television show I recorded..to this day Doris Day memorabilia is heard and seen..Yes Sherronteal Doris Day could sing...Check her listings of movies this talented wonder sang and acted.
Doris & Perry....the class of Hollywood! I loved them both and am so glad and fortunate I had the opportunity to meet them (Doris & my mom -- an actress -- were friends through Maureen O'Hara way back in the day). Both ultimately left Hollywood and when they did, Hollywood was the much poorer and dimmer for it. Gosh, I miss those days.
Bless their hearts -- I wish they were still performing. We lost Perry in 2001 at age 88, but the lovely Doris is still with us! She turned 95, 2 weeks ago today. Both such class all the way. So grateful we still have their music and can still see them thanks to people like you, Rae Edwards, who posted this for our enjoyment! Thank you!
Great, inspired duet covers! Their voices maturer than in the '40s, yet they bring more experience and artistic sophistication to their beautifully emoted vocalizings.
I remember well, that moonlit night we fell. Her eyes, her thighs, her lips, her sighs. It was love at first sight and we loved with all our might. Miss you my darling Doris.
Beautiful singing by two masters of their craft. Doris is still a gorgeous woman & still has the sultry voice. Perry lived a great & long life. May he RIP. I purchased Doris' DVD of her show. Wonderful & memorable special. Great keepsake. Thx for posting but buy the DVD if you can. You won't be disappointed.
Beautiful, classy, & I miss this type of entertainment....BRING IT BACK....maybe first, you need to find the talent....that will take some doing.........
Doris, one of the greatest American female vocalists of the past century. Thank God she´s alive to be adored by fans all over the Planet. Those bossa nova Brazilian songs are absolutely beautiful. They sing "Corcovado" (name of the montain top on which the estatue of Christ the Redeemer is placed in Rio de Janeiro, and "Insensatez" ("How Insensitive") both by great Brazilian composer Antonio Carlos Jobim. A gem video. Rae, thanks a lot for posting it.
It simply does not get better than this. Two wonderful performers who will always be with us. Brilliant, so creative, talented, accomplished and simply perfect. This happens because of the genius of the those who post such greatness and TH-cam who enable it to be posted. Teamwork=success Muchos gracias.
The world needs more class like this.

Thanks Perry and Doris for your great performances and wonderful personalities. RIP both of you.
You look at Doris Day, and she looks fantastic, and then she starts to sing and her voice sounds just as good as she looks...Amazing...
What a wonderful clip!! I loved Doris forever. She's beautiful inside and out. And Perry is a first class act. My have we have fallen in this country.

This is so beautiful, Doris was so stunningly beautiful with a soft magical voice. May she rest in peace in the arms of Jesus.
Amen! 💕

My oh my, who WOULDN'T make eyes at Perry Como? What a dreamboat!
"Attractive, talented, well-groomed entertainers singing sweet melodies." Is it over forever? I don' want to believe it!
Perry and Doris in the 70s. They don't come any better...
We know Doris was adorable but, my gosh, Perry was gorgeous ! Very very handsome! They made an adorably beautiful couple !
Wow what talent what smooth voices blended so well together. No talent like this today
Two beautiful performers with voices to match.
4:15 I would make googly eyes at him, too, if I was singing with him; he was always so terribly handsome and a wonderful talented gentleman!! RIP Doris & Perry.
Perry has the most beautiful profile I have ever seen; stunning man !
Sigh......🥰
Gosh, two of the all time greatest singers. I miss those days of innocence.
Innocence? The only innocent one was Perry. Doris was a hussy. He look uncomfortable. And then at the end, she had to say "kiss me.".
two legendary singers
Class...pure class...
She was gorgeous here and her voice was deeper and even richer.
I wonder if Doris Day knows how many "wonderful memories" she has given us. She and Perry made quite a pair!
Beautiful woman plus handsome man both with talent. Those were the days!
This duet by these two great artists is simply ¡FANTASTIC!

I watched a bio today about Doris Day. It was lovely, showing her always positive outlook on life.
Can you imagine Perry Como and Doris Day as a couple? Talk about stunning!
Ohhh yeahh !! Real artist, real voices!
Perry met his future wife when they were about 14 or 15. It was the first date and last for each of them. Although he was a barber his wife encouraged him to sing and leave Canonsburg, Pa. because she knew how talented he was.

Two of the greatest ever stars together. They make it look so easy. Superb.

Would have been the perfect dictionary picture of attractiveness and talent. They were beautiful together. RIP in your rejoining.

Bobbie that was neat you were there!!!! Wow what a cool thing for you to be there!!
If our society was exposed to this type of entertainment and environment, can you imagine how different it would be. I love you Doris!
Pure class! Sadly no longer available.
What a beautiful medley, so complex and interesting yet Doris and Perry sailed through it as if it were child's play. Two total pros from a bygone era when the level of professionalism and musicianship vastly exceeded anything to be seen today
I always considered Perry Como one of the smoothest singing voices of all time and it didn't get much better than Doris Day 👍
I wish I lived in that era SO BADLY!
I was a child, it was a glorious time.
@@nain1638 unless you were black.
I never knew Doris Day could sing I love this because it brings back happier less chaotic times then today..

What a class-act! We shouldn't neglect to mention Perry's long-time arranger and conductor Nick Perito. He's the one at the piano. Great arranger.
Two of my favorite people.
He was truly Mr. Relaxation... as the guys from Saturday night live, used to call him. He was marvelous. Salute.
Whatever happened to music and talents like these two, Magical.
My favorite male singer is Perry Como, and my favorite singer altogether is Doris Day! What's not to LOVE?
Oh! Where are the beautiful singers today? I am glad I was around when they were entertaining us. We were so lucky. We only had the Best of the Best.
I love both of them so much! Perry is such a fox, but very shy. He seemed afraid to look at Doris. :-)))
patita sandiego, He does seem uncomfortable . They sound great though.
Bless their hearts -- I wish they were still performing. We lost Perry in 2001 at age 88, but the lovely Doris is still with us! She turned 95, 2 weeks ago today. Both such class all the way. She never meant it to come across that way. Doris has been retired now for many many years but hasnt appeared on tv or anything since the 1980s
"Quiet Nights" such a romantic song, sweet, I didn't know this song goes back decades, it is a classical.
