What's strange is that Louise Fletcher and John Rhys-Davies actually star in the film, and they were the bigger names of that era. Promotional material for the movie would have done better by featuring them instead of the cameo trio, if for no other reason than nostalgic value.

@@stevegeorge6880 He's had a really good career. He was on something called Auf Wiedersehen Pet about builders in Germany in the eighties, probably one of the most fondly remembered British series of the time. He would be notable for that alone in the UK. Since then he's appeared in tonnes of serious TV dramas etc, and regularly wins awards. Oh, and he does voiceovers for various major TV commercials which are on all the time here, so there's that too.
America tends to be the graveyard of British actors. There are some really good ones who've bombed over there (and some unexpected ones who succeeded - I wouldn't have put money on Tracey Ullman, Hugh Laurie (House) and Craig Ferguson for example, but they've all done well.) Some directors like George Lucas and Stanley Kubrick knew that they could get decent actors at a fraction of the price if they used British ones instead of American.

Everything about this movie is perfect for Mark's talents, so of course he didn't disappoint! By the way, Steve Inwood, the Wolverine-lookalike actor who plays Nick, had a pretty solid career in the late 70's/early 80's, if mainly in small parts. Then, in 1983, he starred in "Staying Alive", the much inferior sequel to John Travolta's "Saturday Night Fever". He had quite a big role in the movie and hoped it would make him a household name. It didn't - and the troubled production of "Grizzly II" came next.
According to co-star John Rhys-Davis, "coming off the near-superstardom of Staying Alive, it made him (Inwood)… perhaps overvalue his contribution a little bit." After that, his career took a nosedive and stopped altogether in 1997. Myself and a few other dedicated fans have been trying to track him down ever since, but he seems to have disappeared into thin air, which is a shame. If anyone has any recent info on him, it would be greatly appreciated!

In that same interview, John Rhys-Davies also said he had no idea whether Inwood was still alive and that he seemed to have "a problem or two". Then, whatever animal you were shooting at gets mad, goes for the gun, then when the animal has the gun pointed at you, you shoot it with your hidden, secret gun. Now it’s self-defense and not illegal poaching. White rhinos and polar bears are notorious for falling for this trick, which is why there’s so few of them.

5:31 It's the guy from "First Blood" who falls off the helicopter! I had never seen him in another movie until this debacle! Wow!

You gotta wonder if good old Charlie Sheen ever looks back at the filming of this and reflects on his life and wonders if he’d make any changes? I mean he was killing it in like 1987 and then things got a little crazy.

Hey Mark, you missed mentioning the amazing Louise Fletcher turning up in this about 4 minutes in. Some know her as the disgusting head nurse/warden in One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, but to me shes the religious bajorean leader Vedek Winn from ST DS9. 😎

Thank you Mark, this is another movie I have added to my ever growing collection of B movies because of your reviews. B
The baby bear screaming after being shot is sublime.

Hand and gives down, this was for sure one of the weirdest movies I've ever seen. Troll was pretty crazy too but this one just puts it all together. Is it me or is that kid a bit of a freak waiting to grow up and keep on surprising us. Your video was fantastic and this was a great choice for the poll. Who created that background music in your main video? I need to write to them and ask them what were they thinking. I love how your jokes make me laugh so hard but the video music makes me cry. It's a perfect balance. I'm so torn. Thanks for listening. Your awesome

I saw Grizzly as a kid, I found it horrendous and way too bloody. This looks hilarious, though.

If I remember right, Cinema Snob had a review of the rare rough cut up years ago but had to remove it when he was supposedly faced with a potential lawsuit.

One of my ex friends was a trapper. So yeah Quebec still have them but it's not the most common activities nowadays. Still, got tasty venison regularly!
Also yeah, he looked the part, too! Beard, checkered shirt, necklace made from wolf claws or whatever those came from...😄

They should've put John Rhys-Davies and Nurse Ratchet on the cover. Not Louise Fletcher. Nurse Ratchet.
