Oh, my, it actually happened. I watched this back in the 80's and remember thinking how people would look back on that time period how I do the 50's (seeing it in syndication, and thinking about how their parents were kids then), and enough time has passed since then that it's officially that case today. We've gone 30+ years since the 80's! I'm going to be in my 50's soon! Where did the time go????????????????
This show jumped the shark when Beaver's son, Eddie's son and their friend are in the school washroom and spontaneously break into a choreographed song and dance about the new girl in school.
I think I went to your site once or twice to see if there were any updates on Kaleena Kiff or something on the show re-airing at all. Shame they dont air this anymore. This ruled back in junior high.
The 70's and 80's weren't a decade of innocence on TV. 'Three's Company', 'All in the Family' and several other shows defied innocence during their times. It may seem that way compared to now but it really wasn't.
If Universal had known what was going to happen to Qintex, I think they would've kept the master tapes for the show and we'd probably have the show on DVD right now. As such, it probably won't happen now unless things can get straightened out in the courts.
A DVD release for this series is in limbo as of late as Universal sold the rights to the masters of the show to Qintex Productions after the series concluded its first run in syndication -- the syndicator soon went belly up. I'll bet Universal regretted having done that.
I read that RHI acquired the Qintex holdings a couple of years ago, so there's a chance we may see this on DVD someday. Whatsmore, I read yesterday that Shout! Factory has acquired DVD rights to the original 'LITB' series and will be releasing THE COMPLETE SERIES (no joke) on June 15, 2010, and that many extras are in the works. Who knows, maybe that will at least include the "Still the Beaver" movie! And YES, this was a great series that greatly complemented the original show...no question!!!
The new Leave it to Beaver was a far cry from the original. All new sitcoms fall into the same trap of making the kids smarter and more sophisticated than their parents and indeed all adults. The dialog is more about one liners than true conversation. Too bad, we need shows like the original again. I miss Ward (Hugh Beaumont) Cleaver the almost perfect father I wish I could have been.
This was one of the shows that meant a lot to me growing up (the original show that is) but I think it was great they did a sequel. A lot crap on the air today shows that are very cynical which is their way of trying to be cool, but most suck. The wonder years was an exception to the Family show genre that was entertaining without being vulgar or cynical. The people that like shows like Rosanne (rosanne barr) appeal to cynical people that are generally not happy people
yeah i hope they put this on dvd one day. i think she works on short films now, which is funny because that's what i'm doing too. anyway just look her up on youtube.
It has a nice updated 80s sitcom feel to it. It still has the gentle feel of its original to. Even today beavers influence is felt. Not much diffirent then Arnold Jackson on diffirent strokes or Bart on simpsons: the original "I'm always in trouble" boy. It's a proven formula to this day
+BingCherry11 You won't believe why it won't come to DVD: the syndicator, Qintex, went out of business shortly after Universal sold the show and its masters to that company after the series ended its first trip in syndication. I do hope they can sue to take back the show from the defunct syndicator.
@slydawg221 , well the original series was made during the 60's and it was a good show, back then with any show your not going to see the stuff you see in todays TV shows.. i don't consider it goody 2 shoes as you call it. it was a good show back then regardless of if you grew up during that time or seen it in reruns.
Well, it be kind of silly to call the series The New Leave It To THEODORE, wouldnt it? Some childhood nicknames never seems to leave a person and in Beav's case, once Beaver -ALWAYS Beaver.
LOL, I used to run a little web site dedicated tho the New Leave it to Beaver, the first and only. I used to have such a huge crush on Kaleena Kiff. Hey if anyone remembers it, message me, I'd like to hear from you!
As a video editor, stuff like this is a guilty pleasure. You've got all the horrible design elements of the late 80s: Cornball jazzy intro, a title with gradients, horrible color clashes, and very, very ugly backgrounds. Wonderful!

Man, I was always so happy when that show was over.
Lmao
"This is also the reason why the series may never be released on DVD."
Hopefully, there will be a day when this great show is on DVD.
No doubt. This show rocked.

I used to love this show when I was a little girl! I wonder if it is or will it ever come out on DVD.
Oliver, who is playing Beaver's son, is stepping up and down on the curve the same way Jerry did in the closing in the Original Leave it To Beaver.

Back in the 80's (& part of the early 90's), I loved this show. I wish TVLand would play these.
IIRC, this was in the same block with the TBS/Arthur Co. originals "Down To Earth", "Safe At Home", and "Rocky Road".

I used to watch this...so long ago

I really enjoyed this show growing up.
I miss the 80's.
I remember watching this on the Disney Channel
I wish the Hub would show repeats of this wonderful show!

This makes me want to cry
The opening titles are cute but so sad too, Ward’s only in one of the photos

Put this on DVD or Blu Ray Soon
What year did this come out
The sax sounds familiar to one of Taylor Dayne's songs like I'll Always Love You and Heart of Stone.
Does anyone have a clip of the intro in which they use an a capella version of the theme?
will this be on dvd?
Is this one playing by Cabo Frio ??

Was that the same house ?
Why is he called the beaver?
Can't believe that old bat is still alive.
Can't believe that old bat is dead.

The first 12 seconds of the opening were great but the rest feels a bit rushed.
wasnt a young mohammad otta in this show ?
But at least it had a story back then unlike now.
Did Qintex gone completely bankrupt?
Responces anybody?
Hey where's Wally?
@raddaluigi Your wrong it's not the only good spinoff ever made.
Weeknights 6:30pm on WWOR 9
@bobbollu Because it was on TV.
This last intro with the "doo wop" vocals, and a cappella (no instruments), was probably the worst remake.
of course this show failed. a 40 year old man still being called beaver!!!
@incrediblehulkmovies great example of a low life show, the one with Al Bundy(forgot the name)
@ExtremumXymosis I used to have a crush on Kelly!
Cabo Frio,
Man did the 80's suck! How I hate remembering them! Argh the saxophone!!!!!!
@omen74 This show reallllly sucked out loud like a dying mackeral gasping for air on a rotted wood pier.
@thewvnetwork Start saving your money.
it's ok but the original leave it to beaver is better
it stinks of the 80's.
