    I’m departmentalized 4th grade science (3-4 classes depending on the year) and the best way I’ve figured out to do anchor charts is make mini ones with each class and then combine their ideas on one big 4th grade chart to display. I use printer paper to make a mini one with each class and put it under my document camera. Then I take all/most of their ideas and make a big one to display. I let them know that they may not see their exact answer on the big one but I keep all the mini ones in the folder I use for their class. They really like seeing their thoughts with the other 4th graders not in their class.

    Something I was told in college for anchor charts would be to go ahead and make it with the “bones”, laminate it, and then you can use dry erase markers to fill it out with both classes and erase in between! Then you could just hang the completed one from your last class!

      That's a really smart idea! I love that!

    I teach all subjects for 4th grade in NC. I have found that students LOVE to make “mini” anchor charts with me. I give them all a piece of white printer paper and I project my paper in the my smart board and we make a mini anchor chart together. They keep and use them as their notes. Then I make a big one to display on my wall! They love to suggest what to add and you can differentiate by giving some that are already filled in.

    Hi Bailey, I love watching your vlogs and your enthusiasm in preparing for the new school year. I am a teacher in Australia and find it so amazing that you only teach certain curriculum areas now in your new position. I guess this allows teachers to specialize in certain areas. Here I teach all curriculum areas except music and Japanese. I am really enjoying watching your classroom set up series, our school year runs from February to December. I can’t wait to see how the new year goes for you in your new position.

    Maybe as you learn each cursive letter you cover up or replace the print letter with the cursive one?

    For anchor charts and multiple classes I usually "make" it w each group on a whiteboard using expos but create the paper wall version myself. That way each group gets the experience of making it and I get to make sure it looks reasonable.

    Thank you for your great ideas of magnetic tiles! Hope your students enjoy it and learn through playing!

    I am surprised you didn't mention perimeter and area as a use for those tiles! I don't know if they told you what to say but even though it is sponsored and I no longer am teaching, those tiles could definitely be used for endless things! My mind is turning thinking of all the different ways they could be used, and it definitely would be a super simple way to increase student engagement.

    Love that you’re planning to leave more wall space for your room to “breathe” this year! I find that when every inch of wall is covered with something, there’s no place for your eyes to land and you end up not really “seeing” anything. It all just becomes background.

    Our grade level teaches in a pod where all the classrooms are openish to each other. We have a circular pod with a workroom in the middle, and we have to walk through each other’s rooms to get to the restroom and hallway. It takes some getting used to, and talking/noises can be distracting at times but we love the togetherness we have!

    I’m departmentalized and we do a mini anchor chart in their reading notebook with the first class then I make a big version on poster paper with the 2nd while they are copying in their notebooks. I also display my notebook on the projector for them and uncover each part with a piece of paper.

    Yes girl honestly love when I get something useful out of teacher trainings. But ya open wall space does NOT mean you aren’t prepared or a good teacher or whatever. Honestly I teach littles so I find having lots of open wall space at the beginning of the year is nice for them. Less overwhelming! Literally have boards papered and titled and nothing else on them. We add to them as we learn!! Having posters up of stuff they haven’t learned yet might be stressful ? Idk. 💗💗💗💗😍

    I cross grouped for many years and one useful thing I did for organization, was to give each group a color. For example, my a.m. class was named the "Red Team" and my p.m. group was the "Blue Team". So, I was able to organize their things. Their name tags were on their desks, one written in red on the left side of the desk and one written in blue on the right side of the desk. I also had a red and blue basket for submitting work, etc. Additionally, I had supply a bin for each table, one red, one blue, that I would store on a shelf and each table had a table captain each day. They would be responsible for getting the bin for their table and putting it back when finished.( it might store their interactive journals, etc.) For anchor charts that they helped create, I would use red and blue marker for writing the info on the white board, and thenI would combine on the chart to post it. I also tried using stick it note ( pink/ blue) to put on the chart.Your room. looks great. Have a wonderful new school year.

    For the anchor charts, I would make one with the first class then take it down or cover it for the next class. When the next class comes in, hear what they have to add then show the anchor chart and add anything that was not added before.

    I’ve wanted to put my diplomas up in my classroom for years but I’ve never had enough room for them (there are 3-and they are not all the same size). I finally decided this summer to take them to my local copy shop and have them all colored copies and shrunk to a 5x7 size. Now I have all 3 of them on a shelf and they don’t take up a ton of room and they are all the same size (and the originals are safely filed away).

    How do you feel about the new benchmark curriculum for florida?

  • @katelynchapman52
    @katelynchapman52 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Oh and for the anchor charts, I would either take both of their ideas and combine them onto one poster after orrrr just make it a priority to make space for both ! Different classes will come up with different solutions to problems or silly vocab that helps them learn a concept. A word to one class might mean something totally different to the next if that makes sense?

  • @sarihammon1435
    @sarihammon1435 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I would have a helper of the day in each group rather than all of those jobs. The helper would do all the special things that day. My class loved it! Also, to get markers off dry erase boards use a dry erase marker over it and it will come off when you wipe it off.

    I'm not starting with any bulletin boards made. I wouldn't even put reading strategies up until you teach it, because they won't reference it until then. Basically, kids don't look at a single thing unless you constantly reference it.

    I’m not excited for classroom setup this year :/ i’m a 6th year reading specialist and I’m probably going to be in the hallway unfortunately :( I heard they were giving my tiny room the size of a closet to the gym teachers to store stuff so that puts me and all my things in the hall. Kids steal at my school so much so that I caught a student IN MY PURSE STEALING last year and the student attacked me when I tried to get my freaking wallet back so being in the hall is giving me severe anxiety:/

    Hello from a Luxembourgish senior highschool student, I do have a quick question: Why do you decorate your rooms in america ? it is not something commonly done here and i am very curious about the reasoning behind it. We always had basic brown/beige desks,chairs and the cabinets and stuff were often even screw into the walls. We only ever put up images around holidays and it was the drawings done by students. Now in highschool there is nothing on the walls really, sometimes a map or some poster a kid made for a presentation that the teacher thought was pretty. I would find so colourful classrooms very distracting, so i am unsure and curious as to why they are costumary
