    I'm also heading into my 20th year teaching. I really loved watching at veteran teacher set up their room. I appreciate your honesty about the profession and about the frustrations of setting up the same room again 😂

      Congrats on 20!! The longer I teach classroom set up is easier in the sense that I know what I want and what works. But it's still physically a lot of work!

    I've been teaching for 3 years and have moved 3 times. I don't think people realize what it takes to set up a classroom, especially by yourself. I've had help thankfully, but I feel for you, especially with no air!

    • @msrachelvincent

      Yeah people definitely don't realize how much we do before the school year even starts! My first 3 years I also moved to 3 different classrooms and 3 different grade levels!

    I agree with you wholeheartedly… Setting up a classroom is not easy! I am on my 45th year of teaching and it never seems to get easier lol but it’s always with worth it when you’re done… I teach in South Carolina also

      Wow! 45 years is an amazing accomplishment! Have you been in the classroom the whole time?

    I work in an elementary school in which half of the classes have ac and the rest- are like saunas. I feel your pain:)

      Ugh...it stinks that it's not all the same at your school.

    I bring a few small rugs from home to put under table legs so when I drag and slide…no scratching. Layered cardboard works as well :)

    Our custodians put everything back in place according to the pictures we attach to our bulletin boards when we leave for summer break! I an thankful we don't have to do all the heavy lifting most of you are doing!

    • @msrachelvincent
      @msrachelvincent  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, they usually put it back in the general location, so I only have to move it a little, but we had 2 retire this year so they were short staffed.

    Woo hoo! Love a veteran teacher keeping it real! ❤ Our custodians take a picture of our room before we leave and put the big stuff back where we had it!

    • @msrachelvincent
      @msrachelvincent  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's so nice! Usually they put it close to it's original location, but we had 2 custodians retire this year so they were short staffed and we had a shorter summer since they changed our school calendar.

      @msrachelvincent I love your room. I have a black and white color scheme too. I plan to use red as my pop of color. I have taught in high school and elementary school. This year I will be teaching 7th grade. It takes me weeks to get everything the way I want it. I even have to get up on a ladder to put up stuff on my walls every year. I use 3M adhesive tabs to make sure the posters and anchor charts stay on the wall when they allow us to leave them in place over the summer. Otherwise, I return to a classroom with posters all over the floor.

    Last year I was returning from a long maternity leave, to a new room, so set up a mishmash of the new room's supplies. This year class sizes are going up. I think it'll take pics after I set up, and in June. The pics will be so much better than my sad attempt to draw set up for janitors. Hubby gets drafted to help since my back doesn't allow me to lift much.

    Are you moving other classroom

    • @msrachelvincent
      @msrachelvincent  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not this year. I supposed to move to another classroom next year. They are building a new hallway onto our building and 4th & 5th grade will most likely move to that hallway.
