Enjoy watching your common sense videos. You’re spot on! It’s funny the smallest stuff require the most depth sometimes. Under door puddle lamps 🤣.. combine that with the PS+ option and you’ve got both of the most gimmicky options available!
Definitely on point with PDCC, RAS, & PASM sport. PDCC is for SUV’s, RAS is unnoticeable, and PASM is standard. 10mm drop is absolutely worthless.
I’m also against nanny options like LKA & ACC. The less nannies the better for a SPORTS car.
I love my PCCB’s however. Idk if it’s because I’m in sunny California, but I haven’t had one squeak! Maybe colder climates bring it out. No brake dust and 150k miles of life is worth every penny.
Looking forward to Part II. Keep up the great videos!

Front axle lift is for the ri-di-ci-lous speed bumps in Europe and driving in ancient historic cities in Europe. Since American and Australia don't have 800 year old ancient cities, I forgive you missing this. But; it's a necessity here. If you don't have it: you vehicle is worthless in second hand market. Dealers warn you you MUST have it. However; it should be automatically lifted instead of manual.

Swell video, Nick, but it's over and the swelling's gone down. Looking forward to part 2! Just a quick note about the sunroof that nobody seems to be talking about. I have a dark blue 991.1 C4S with a metal sunroof and would never spec one with a glass sunroof unless I were to spec black exterior paint, which I wouldn't do either. The reason being that the glass sunroof creates a giant black slab on top of your 911's roof that interrupts that beautiful paintwork. I'm 6 ft tall and love to gaze over the top of my 911 and appreciate its lovely shape with the continuous paint from front to back (windows excepted). Also, the 911 is like a snowglobe inside with great visibility all around so there's already plenty of light to be let it in. And, yeah, well, this is just, like, my opinion, man, but I strongly suggest new buyers consider this.

7:30 yes the two tone Slate / Chalk, and Black / Mojave tan are the most beautiful interior options. If really lifts the car for very little money. The 930 leather package is nice too, but less certain if it is worth the price. Porsche crest on headrests is a nice touch for very little money. Paldeo wood trim looks really nice with Slate / Chalk, but again less certain if it is really worth the money given that the standard trim is good enough.

I find the most enjoyable part of buying a new car is to configure it to ones personal taste. I used this configurator up and down to configure different 992s in different colors and feature combinations and meticulously stored them as build codes. I thought I knew all the choices but learning that the PASM option really only means that the car gets lowered by 10mm made it worth watching this video to the very end. Thank you for that Nick! As a long term Porsche 911fan I must say that most of your judgement calls make a lot of sense. I am looking forward to part 2.... and I am holding back to finalize my 992 order until then.

Hi Nick, thanks for your candid comments. Most of which I agree with. The only thing I would ask for your further opinion on is the rear wheel steering option. I agree with your comments that most people can hardly tell if they’ve got it or not when driving. But, having had it on a BMW I can say that it certainly reduces tyre wear. I got an extra 6 months use from my rear tyres and open road driving in NZ, which is considerably different to US concrete and bitumen motorway/highway roads (more like blue metal stone and tar fast country roads) felt a little more sure footed and smoother handling. I would appreciate your further feedback as I am looking to spec my first 911. Thank you...

Excellent video content!! Really informative as usual. The effect of 4 wheel steering is much more noticeable on a Cayenne. I've experienced the new shape Cayenne with and without 4WS and my new S 'feels' bigger and less agile than my previous base Cayenne which had 4WS. Not a big deal though and doesn't detract from the driving experience. It's not a track car.. However, if you're not used to 4WS on a 911, it feels odd at first.. as if the rear end is a bit 'loose'. My 991.2 C2S doesn't have it and I much prefer the more natural feel. However as Nick says, we all have different views on it. 992 not for me though anyway.

Also optioning RWS forces the equipping of Power-steering Plus, so I'd hazard a guess that much of the "feel" that people attribute to RWS is the lightening of the steering at lower speeds, obviously extra stability in lane changes and reduced turn-circle are physical benefits, but much of the intangibles are just S/W tweaks.

Great video, I appreciate your input. As the owner of pretty well equipped 991.1 that I bought as a CPO, I agree that there are some options on there that I wouldn't bother with if I bought a new one. Top of the list is the Sport/Chrono. Yeah, the clock looks cool, but is it worth $3k? I've used the Launch Control once. Just stomp it and it goes fine! But I do love the full leather interior, it just sets the car off and gives it a premium feel you don't get with the standard interior. That said, I'd consider your advice to look at the standard two-tone, and maybe dress it up with the silver or Paldao wood trim.

Finally the 992 options video, I have been waiting for this, and just in time as I will be taking delivery of my 992 C2 on Friday.
So far only two minor "mistakes" in my config as it is GT Silver with 19/20 inch wheels (for comfort), but I simply love the GT silver and if I want to drive a sports car with a loud color I will just take my Guards Red 718 Boxster, always good with a bit of variety.
I can only agree that the under door puddle lights are the worst option in Porsche history ever, has that china/ebay feel to it.

Funny! I also didn`t like the rear bumper with the number plate in the middle but the front of the package looks good. The normal rear bumper gives it the nice undisturbed look at the end which looks really great at the standard car.

Excellent video, as usual, thank you very much! Can you in your next video or Q&A explain why you think that the base 992 without any options is already a well-equipped car? I'm asking because it seems to me that of all the luxury manufacturers, and specifically the German ones, Porsche is the company that milks its customers the most with options, some of which should be standard for a $100,000 car. For example, lange change/keep assist are standard even on a Toyota Corolla.

On some 911 models you can only get PDCC with RAS, the two are bundled. They are on the 911Targa S. Sooooo if you drove a one of those models with PDCC, it also had rear axle steering.

Sport chrono - when not used in chrono mode it’s a clock display with itty bitty digital hours and minutes with a hulking analog seconds hand. Here’s an idea - use two hands. When in clock mode make it an hour hand and a minutes hand. In chrono mode the hour hand can move to hide behind the minutes hand to become one, and that conjoined hand then becomes the chrono function’s analog second hand.

I just sold my BMW e90 M3 which I had for 6 years sold it at a profit 😳 Brought a 991.1 Carrera S and boy do I love it. I could have purchased a new G90 M3 or even an M5 which are Mega cars, but they don’t have the character of the yes older Porsche. I love how analog it is and yes they are a very beautiful looking 911, arguably the best. My M3 had a tune and an exhaust and yes may have been a bit quicker to 100kph than the Porsche but this car does everything Soo much better and let me say I am a huge E9X M3 fan it was a great car to own and absolutely bullet proof. My 991 only had 30,000Ks on it and it totally feels like new it’s an MY13 model. I could have gone for a 991,2 but I love naturally aspirated over turbo motors the flat 6 without turbos is just a Mega sound !! Good to listen to someone who has had numerous Porsches, thanks
