    All you have to do is use the flood select tool, make sure its got all the white background, then click filters colours and Erase white paper!

    Good video, very detailed. That's more like 14 steps though. 👍

    In Affinity Photo 2, you can instantly remove the white background by going to Menu > Filters > Colors > Remove White Paper.

      It’s definitely worth a try, but this method unfortunately doesn’t always work and it is destructive.. It doesn’t work when there’s white in the subject itself, because those pixels also get erased. But as mentioned, it’s worth a shot!

    Hi Rensi. I just came across your video 2 yrs later. Affinity has released a new version of Affinity Photo and many of the menu options you mentioned are missing so I can't follow your tutorial. I didn't have a previous version of Affinity so I don't know what is an alternative function. For example, refine mask isn't in the menu options. When you have a mask the view looks the same as the background even when the mask layer is selected. Would you consider doing an updated video with the Affinity Photo 2 version? Thanks.

    Great stuff. Can you do some of these with an iPad?

    • @IAMRENSI
      @IAMRENSI  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I’m convinced it’s possible, however I don’t have an iPad (yet)! Once I do I’ll make sure to create Affinity iPad tutorials :)

    I am on Windows 10 and the CTRL Click + Drag for the inside of the loop just switches off the first Flood Select Tool. Back and forth, I am unable to control 2 areas at the same time. I had to paint in the black matte later and if this was say a chain link fence I was working on that would drive me nuts. Do controls work for Mac that do not work for Windows? Is this one?

      Hey Don ! So I did a quick search and apparently to add to the selection on Windows you need to hold the right mouse-button while selecting with the left mouse button ! I prefer working with keyboard shortcuts, however you can always select ‘Add’ in the context tool bar to add to the selection. Hope this helps :)

    Rens this is going to help us many times in the future. I really appreciate the tip about lowering the border slider in refining, I think that can help us even if the background was not all white. I have taken your course on Making Pixel Perfect Selections and working my way through The Art of Photo Manipulation they are both amazing and worth checking out. Thank you again for making another informative video to teach us Affinity Photo. Stay safe, stay healthy.

      Hey Ed ! Yea you’re right, this also works with different kinds of backgrounds. It’s so great to see your progress in photo manipulation ! Always appreciate your words and support buddy ! Keep on rocking 🔥

    For some reason, I rewatched this old video. In the interim from when you posted it, I have become more comfortable with procedural texture equations and have written ones that get rid of grey, pure black, and pure white with tolerance sliders. Not sure how I can share them with you, but I would like to see more videos from anyone about the art of creating procedural texture equations. There are many built in functions that I am interested in learning more about.

      Hey Pedro, that sounds very interesting! Honestly I literally have no clue about Procedural Texture Equations, since I have never used them 😅 So it's gonna be hard for me to make a tutorial on that. Sorry bro 🤙🏽

    nice video, but as usual my program doesn't do what yours did in the video. Digital art pisses me off. everyone makes it look soooo easy.
