didn't know I needed this until I watched it! I love all of your recommendations ❤️ You are one of the few people I found that talks about historical/regency romances
Oh man! You need to check out Crystal's Bookish Life, PeaceLoveBooks, RachelReadsandSings, and Novel Life. They read more Historical Romance than I do. :) And thank you SO much for checking this video out. :)
Thank you so much for this video! You're a class act and explained yourself in a detailed and informative way without being crass or cringeworthy! Great video and I will absolutely take your recommendations!
It's been really fun to see your spice levels and I do love seeing how each content creator has a different range on how we view steam in romance. I have had one since I started a blog, just because many of my readers have different steam preferences and it's always good to know the steam level before going into a story. I do think in historicals, it can be more difficult sometimes to find more steam. But I definitely agree about Frampton, I love how adventurous she is in her sex scenes, it's highly refreshing. I am not sure if I have put it in the spreadsheet, but for more steam, Charlotte Featherstone does a great job with it as well. Thanks for sharing the range of spice levels for this sub-genre, this will be super helpful, especially for HR newbies.
I’m so glad you did an updated spice video. I always reference your older one. It still holds up but the new one is great too since there have been some new books/authors out. I think Alice Coldbreath could be stretched to be 🌶🌶🌶.5 to 🌶🌶🌶🌶 because she includes a lot of sex scenes but her books are longer than the average historical so it tracks.
Wait till you check out jess Michael's hers range from 3.5-4.5 for sure! When I first tried her books I pleasantly surprised since most authors don't go there at least in this sub genre
Haha! Sarah, it is a REAL thing! Also, when there is interrupted sex more than 2 times in a book?! I get so agitated. It's not tension at that point, it's cruel.
I read two of these series and I love it special what today with people with special disability. My daughter had has the disability with reading and interpretation.
Definitely will try some of these recommendations. I would like to add in the 3 scale Eloísa James, her books have wit and many of them will make you laugh out loud. Grace Galloway can go into the 3.5 scale too and her books are funny and have some small level mystery and wonderful characters, the audiobooks specially are awesome. Also victoria Dale into the 4.5 scale for sure, her books somehow have a really good characterization for something erotic and fun to read.
Nice video Jen. I would try the authors you mentioned. Since I love Outlander series, do you have any Highlander romance books recommendation / faves ? Thank you 😊
Lyndsay Sands is great. Maya Banks has a good Highlander series. Be forewarned it’s unfinished (she has health issues) but it’s iconic among Highlander fans. Jayne Castel has a good series. I love nuns and Highlanders. The first in her series is a nun Highlander Romance. Lyndsay Sands has a nun Highlander romance too. Monica McGarrity (sp) writes Highlander too. Donna Fletcher writes Scottish Highlander too. I’m not a fan but I know she is a fave as well.
It depends. Probably between a 2 and 3. There are usually multiple scenes but they are usually written very flowery and overly explained in romantic terms.
I’m glad you did this video I’m trying to find a historical romance that has a decent storyline with good steam. Does anyone else able to recommend other authors as well?
Sarah MacLean (if you like more feminist leaning romance) Kate Bateman (dark but not as much as Kerrigan Byrne) Kerrigan Byrne (darker historical romance) Christi Caldwell (mix of romcom/darker themes) Tessa Dare (more romcom) Sophie Jordan Sabrina Jeffries All of these authors are regency/Victorian. Tessa Dare, Kerrigan Byrne and Kate Bateman are my faves but I think it’s a matter of preference. All of them are amazing writers.

It was insanely hard to put together. But I love when I force myself to examine my ratings and scales so that I am more confident about them.

THANK YOU, this is the video I never knew I needed!
Wow! My TBR is now out of control thanks to you! :)
I'm still busy with school, but definitely gonna check these when I have the time. Keep em coming Jem! I'll just binge watch everything this summer.
This video was AWESOME! I love your ratings! If you haven’t, you should do some of your favorite contemporary even though you do it each time

@@TheBookRefuge Agreed!! LOL
This reinforced that I need to try Elisa Braden soon.
Thank you so much for these recommendations! I'm still in a historical romance mood post Bridgerton and I think this just extended it even more haha
Thanks Jenn for another great video. I have so many new authors to try thanks to you ;)

The first book I read of Minerva Spencer was Dangerous and I loved it and read the whole series. I’m looking forward to read more of her books.
Loved this video topic!
I love Sierra Simone so much!!!! Her historical are so underrated
Thank you Jen ..can you share more authors on spice novels ...
Hey Johanna! Did you check the other video I linked that is like this one? It is linked in the video in the card in the upper right hand corner!
Love a good 3.5 - 4.5 range
As someone who is starting to read romances, especially ones with erotica in them, this was very helpful. Thank you :)
I prefer a very spicy novel. Let’s face it, we are adults, and adults have sex.
@@dd0465 Exactly!
Thank you Jenn❤️ love your videos😍 Did you read any Jess Michales books? Hot stuff 🔥🔥🔥 I also love Scarlett Scott

Thanks, Jenn.
where does Stephanie Laurens book fall on your spice meter
It depends. Probably between a 2 and 3. There are usually multiple scenes but they are usually written very flowery and overly explained in romantic terms.
For goblins and orc kink-> The Fall of Sarah
Ooohhhh. I'm intrigued.
I’m glad you did this video I’m trying to find a historical romance that has a decent storyline with good steam.

Stephanie Laurens - I would say a 3 on this scale.
Sarah MacLean (if you like more feminist leaning romance)
Kate Bateman (dark but not as much as Kerrigan Byrne)
Kerrigan Byrne (darker historical romance)
Christi Caldwell (mix of romcom/darker themes)
Tessa Dare (more romcom)
Sophie Jordan
