Affinity photo and Affinity designer are great to. It's a one time fee, about $20 from memory and it's the closest to photoshop and illustrator that I have found
What a great resource; a printer that has all the technical bits already figured out for you! Now my mind is reeling with possibilities. Perhaps I will try this one day! Thank you!
Thank you for this information. You explain the steps in a way that I can understand. I work with tarot cards for personal development and growth, and have always been curious about how the cards are made.
This is so helpful. So generous of you to share this. Thank you. Also, I would love to know about your deck with the death card that you used in the example.
Thanks Joanne! Glad you enjoyed the video. The card is from an upcoming deck i'm creating called The Abyss Tarot, it will be published through US Games,
Thanks Kelly! :) I know it doesn't cover everything in terms of the design aspects, but it's a starting point. Hey, maybe it will help you in your geomancy cards ;)
New subscriber here , I started my TH-cam videos a year ago , I want to create my own oracle deck thank you so much for sharing especially for a how do I say beginner with technology lol , teaching myself thank you again , I promise to share my deck once I'm done and share on my channel,
They have added some options. However if you want a more chunky book, then your best bet is amazon self publish. You get a bunch of options in terms of book size.
I was so excited about creating a deck but seeing this makes me realize I probably won’t be able to do anything with it. I don’t even own a computer. Just have art supplies. I was a little discouraged before, but now I don’t think I can even do it. It’s just unfortunate bc I already created a lot of the artwork and had a great idea for the structure of the deck.
You shouldn't give up. If you have the art done you can create a deck. Even if it means going to your fedex and working on their computer. You need to take pictures of your work, or scan them and then work from there. You can also download an editing program temporarily. The printer site has also an option to add the type in there. Remember, every deck creator started somewhere. Good luck!
Luna Solare thank you so much. Sorry for sounding so pessimistic. It’s just been a really tough year. I appreciate all your help. Also, your work is amazing!♥️
Thank you so much and one question in 2021 relating to MPC how do you get images both sides of the cards, no matter what I do I only seem to get image to back ( individual tarot image designs) and the front only gives me color and text option and no image? Any clues ?
When it first start designing the cards, In Step 1. You have an option/ button to select same image for all fronts or different images. You have to select different images for all fronts. Then it gives you the option to import the files. As far as the text, or color, you can just select "skip" and it will just go to the next step. Hope this helps!
@@anatourian8084 Actually I finally figured it out myself, and it is not how you share it .... if you want images front yes your right but I am wanting images for the back regardless of how many ,you need to click Change layout and then you have the option to add images, skipping to the next step does not do it ...Thanks anyway
Hello, thanks so much for sharing this information, it has been truly helpful for me. I did everything but as a beginner on mkp I did something wrong with the red borders so they send me a message about the white lines on the borders wich I didnt choose it but I didnt correctly so I will blame Mercury retrograde lol Thanks a lot.
I have done tuck boxes since that is the more economical version. You can definitely do two part boxes and even magnetic boxes, however you'd have to go through professional printers. Those will usually only take on a minimum of 500 decks. And as far as costs of printing you're looking at something around $11.000
Thank you so much for this tutorial! If I want to create a template for the front cards that includes each card's messages and statements, do I also want this outline to be within the red lines? Or can it be directly on the red lines?
Laura S Molecavage MA PLC Life Coach Hi! The box you need to Download from the website. If you have more than 78 cards then you need to message MPC so they can send you the specific template.
Hi Ana, I'm not sure if you still monitor comments here. You suggest scanning at 300dpi. I always scan 600 dpi by default just because that's my scanner's highest setting, so I assumed it was best. Should I change to 300dpi or is the highest better? Thanks for the guide!
You can certainly scan at 600 dpi. Image would be better quality. However, the files will be very large and sometimes will take longer to upload or work within the program. Usually if you scan say an image that's 4 x 2 @600dpi. You can resize to 6 x 8 at 300dpi. It would be work. But if you scan an 4 x 2 and 200, you can't make it bigger.
@@anatourian8084 Thanks so much for coming back to me, that's really helpful. What measurement are you working with for 4x2 etc? Inches? Looking forward to your deck coming out soon!
Well, first make sure you fix the charcoal with spray. Then, you need to scan them in pieces and assemble in photoshop. Or go to a place with a large enough scanner. The other thing you can do is just take pictures of the pieces. Get a tripod and do it that way. Use natural lighting or a natural light lamp. Good luck!
I made oracle and Tarot cards for myself but what if I want to sell them. My pictures I did not create, I copied them from random places online. Do you know the legalities of doing this?
Hi Crystal, I have website for the deck that shows all the cards that have been created. tarotoftheabyss.com you can also follow my instagram page. I post things there also. lunasolare1 :)
Just saw this. Hmmm.. unfortunately it's not something easy to do. The type of paper you need for cards you'll lot find at your regular staples. It's also hard to print them off your computer. Unless you have a high end printer. The only thing you could do is print them on a good stock and perhaps laminate them. That will give you something that could be shuffled and wouldn't get damaged.
Just Keep Swimming 11:11 You need to take the photos that you’ve shot and then transfer them to photoshop. That’s where you will be editing them and incorporating any effects that you like.
Depends. They usually will say if they are free or not. If you plan on making it just for yourself then you can use the images. If however, you decide to make profit and start selling the deck then i'd personally not use and online images. I'd shoot them myself. Or go to getty images and purchase royalty free images.
I like them, they work quick, card stock is good. You can't print 400gsm though. So if it's heavier cards you like, they are not the ones for you. it's the easiest way to go about it without being forced to print 5000.
Bless you for sharing this information. I do have a question about selling on Etsy. I made a deck at printers studio and put it for sale on my store site at printers studio. When you sale your decks on Etsy that you printed on Printers Studio, do you order from your site on Printers Studio and have them ship to the buyer? I want to sell the deck I made on P.S. and sell it on etsy but I am confused. Do you end up having etsy and printers studio both take a percentage. Or do you just buy it from your account site on P.S. , without setting up a store site and ship it to buyer from etsy's address. Sorry if my question is so confusing. I hope you can help me figure it out. Thank you for your time. Teresa
I order my decks from them and then I distribute them personally. That way I can control and make sure everyone is getting their decks in time. Or if there are any issues I am aware of them. When you sell directly from the printer, it takes longer and you really have no control in terms of shipping. I also like to package everything myself and add thank you notes and such. Makes it more personal. Hope that helps :)
I have a very old used deck of Tarot cards that is no longer available. I don't know if its possible to coat them with something to preserve the deck? I'd be very grateful if anybody has any suggestions. Many thanks.
Well the only thing I can think of is if you laminate them. I wouldn't put any coating on them, you don't know how the paper would take to it. Also with shuffling, it would start falling off.
It doesn't have to be. It really depends on the final card. If you want a traditional tarot size then any rectangle size. But you do need to make it a bit larger than the final size. I would not make a square image or circular since then you'd have to do a lot of cloning and editing in photoshop to have enough art.
I'm an artist and I recently got interested in tarot cards ❤ I want to create my own design in the future.
did you end up making one?
Sorry for calling you out, but I'd love to see if anything became of this.
You're a huuuge time saver for this. Thank you.

Thank you so very much for this video. I've been looking for information regarding the process of self publishing.
This was THE best tutorial of creating oracle cards. Thank you for shoeing the actual process and not giving steps and no visual. Much appreciated!
Thanks Dyna, I hope it comes in handy for you. Good luck with your project!😊
also, if you do not want to spend the $$$ on photoshop, get gimp lol

I don't think that Gimp lets you use CYMK color

Where do you get the tarot book printed with the meanings for the cards? The ones offered with the cards at the printer you suggested are small
What a great lifestyle...!!!
Do you add color to background behind letters and card photo or leave it as is. Would like tree more about doing the box

Yes, everything should be above the line. If you place the type right on the line you should be ok. But nothing underneath.

You draw them, photograph them and edit them in a program like photoshop or in design
How do you get drawings of the tarot cards? Like the death card.
