  • Bob Marley's song Exodus is favourite of Seretse's and this off the cuff rendition is based on different arrangements he has made of this song over the years.
One of the beautiful features of this rendition is Ottey's piano accompaniment in the first section of the piece. Seretse starts with the bass line riff to establish a sense of ritual and trance as the framework and Ottey is liberal is decorating the space with textures and colours in is voicings.
Seretse's guitar starts to go out of tune making certain choices painful to make and there are times he attempts to use the guitar to create a trancelike rythmic pattern with the drum which at times he fails to maintain.
Overall the band keeps it together and the Exodus phrase "pam pam pam!" is always a delight to return to.
At the end Seretse goes to the lower end of his register to avoid the out of tune strings and finds a mellow, dramatic coda to end on.
There are some true Wine & Soul moments in this recording.
    Seretse Small - Guitar
    Desi Jones - Drums
    Othniel Lewis - Keyboards
    Carlton Jarrett - Bass Guitar
