I agree the Dowland is ‘strange.’ I think the Brouwer sets the tone for the whole set. It’s a modern reinvention of a very well known classic piece. She plays the Dowland as if it’s modem music too, not Renaissance. I think it works and in my opinion the musical intelligence here overshadows that of most of the leading players today. This is much better than playing standard pieces each in their own period style.
Now i am listening to a giant artist an excellent feelings and an excellent nuance as well. I wish you my best.
